Just John 0 Report post Posted May 26, 2006 Wasn't Dick Bavetta the guy at the center of Spurs/Mavs Game 7 controversy? I'm not sure if his hard-on for close games is better or worse than Joey Crawford making at least one tech per game while making a big scene in the process leading the announcers verbally felating him saying things like "And that's why you don't mess with a great official like Joey Crawford." naiwf 0 Report post Posted May 26, 2006 this has to be the most ref-driven playoffs EVER. it seems like EVERy series there are vast amounts of referee bullshit going in all different directions. Amen brother. Amen. I'm almost tired of watching the games because the team of 3 on the court ends up deciding who wins moreso than either team of 5.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted May 26, 2006 Sports announcers really piss me off sometimes with their idiocy. Announcer: So, what you want to do right now, more than anything, is guard the 3, don't worry about them taking it inside or anything, just stay out there and make sure they don't shoot. *Wade flies inside the wide open key for a dunk* Announcer: See, now not guarding the paint is totally inexcusable, you have to watch the ball going inside, you can't just sit outside guarding the 3! I could've sworn he was acting like Wade just blew past all of the Pistons trying their best on defense and dunked in their faces. When in reality they just let him do it. Cheech Tremendous 0 Report post Posted May 26, 2006 Not sure when it happened exactly, but it sounds as if Scottie Pippen has gone absolutely insane. In a previous segment, Pippen declared LeBron James better than Michael Jordan . . . at an equivalent age, I assume, maybe not. I'm actually down with that similar age premise. But, for most, comparing Kobe Bryant (like Charles Barkley doesn't have agenda!) or James to His Airness is a stone sacrilege. A source claims Pippen was asked off camera if he was for real? Ahem, or just looking to stir things up in hopes of gaining national? "Not only am I serious about LeBron being better," Pippen blithered, "I believe I was better than Michael." chaosrage 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2006 Good news for the Suns. Van Horn is starting tonight.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2006 Well...good first half. Eddie House once again providing Steve Nash with addtional rest, something he didn't get in the first two series. Call me crazy, but this series hinges on how productive he is while he is out there.
Just John 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2006 Suns are getting killed on the boards at bad times. Game's not over by a long shot, though. And we also got our announcer felatio on Crawford complete with a video package.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2006 Man they're calling everything on the Suns. How about calling Marion for a walk and then Dirk walks even more and they don't call it? Are the refs intimidated by Cuban?
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2006 Peter Vescey wrote that little piece about Pippen. That's really all that needs to be said about its credibility.

Just John 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2006 Not a bad showing for Phoenix, even if it looks like they're going to lose. They did a good job getting the shots they wanted again, they just weren't going down. Sometimes they get victimized by their own style, but I still like how they look this series. iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2006 Shut up Dama. The officiating was completely even that game. They missed a couple calls both ways, (Diop's block toward the end was completely clean), but the referees had nothing to do with the outcome. Howard added a little bit of scoring punch for Dallas, and Phoenix's offense seemed a little out of rythym when Dallas got back on defense to shut down the fastbreak. Dallas still hasn't played as well as they did in any of their wins in the San Antonio series yet, so I think they should be fine when it goes back to Phoenix. Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2006 There was a huge FT difference, so I wouldn't say it was called completely even. Phoenix got some shots they wanted, they just gotta knock them down.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2006 The FT difference says otherwise Iggy. So you shut up. The supposed "best team in the NBA" should probably lose both games in Phoenix. They lose Game 1 and then have trouble in this game. If Phoenix had gotten some calls and made it to the line or had the shots fall then they'd be up 2 games to none right now.
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2006 The home team generally does shoot more FTs. I'm sure plenty of those calls will go the Suns' way once they go back to Phoenix, although I didn't see tonight's game so I can't comment on whatever calls are being argued.
naiwf 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2006 The Suns averaged 18 FT per game during the season. They don't draw many fouls in position to get to the line. Judging how fairly officiated a Suns game is by measuring their FT production is silly.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2006 Decently called game, but all the travel calls on the suns was ridiculous considering that they weren't calling the same plays on the other end. And I am not just talking about the Dirk play. Either you are calling every little lift of the pivot or not. Still, officiating isn't why the suns lost. The only bad calls against the suns were in the first quarter and those were non factors. They didn't hit the shots on some damn fine plays. Suns stole away home court advantage, so lets see if they can hold court at home and put dallas on the ropes. Hopefully so. And hopefully someone points out that grabbing the guy setting the screen and stopping him from rolling is a foul to the officials and to Jason Terry. I understand using the old vet tricks to get away with it, but dude was blatant.
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2006 There are only 4 teams left. They are all perfectly capable of winning on the road. "Home court advantage" yeah right.
iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2006 Phoenix didn't go to the basket all night. That's why they got less free throws. There were a couple times where they were asking for traveling on Dirk and then they showed the replay, and the dude just didn't travel. I really think it was even. I've backed off the Mavs in 5 prediction a little, but I still think it's gonna be Mavs in 6. They'll probably split in Phoenix, but eventually the Mavs are going to start playing their 'A' game and when they do, it's gonna be lights out, series over.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2006 Dude, he took two steps then hopstepped. Thats 4 steps. A double travel. To call marion for his pivot lifting on one end a split second before he moved and ignore a 4 step travel around the basket is just dumb on the refs.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2006 I watch so many games now where I wonder if the refs even know what travelling is anymore.
