dubq Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 I'm baffled that Europe has the black one before Japan does. Hopefully they'll have them when I'm in Tokyo on business later this year otherwise I'm just going to bite the bullet and get the sleek lookin' navy blue one.
luke-o Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 I'm baffled that Europe has the black one before Japan does. Its about fuckin time we got something first! The europe market gets shat on when it comes to games - shit getting cut out - crap designs on the covers - about 6 months later then everyone else - and pluse we get labbled as "not a big enough market"
Ced Posted June 19, 2006 Report Posted June 19, 2006 I got my hands-on, broke down, and did the trade-in. I'm still not high on iPod White, but the positive changes they made make up for that gripe. It's going to take a lot of effort to get me to bite on any more re-designs at this point though since I like the Lite alot.
Garth Posted June 27, 2006 Report Posted June 27, 2006 I got original DS for my Birthday, just over a week ago on June 16th. I love my DS but it's highly annoying considering that a week later the Lite was coming out. Luckily it was bought from Argos, where I work at the moment funnily enough. I'm going to return it and say it's defective and upgrade myself to a DS, and a black one at that. I actually unloaded the first shipment our store got of the Black Lites, couldn't help but quitely talk to them, telling them "I'll be seeing you later." They're definatly worth all the hassle right?
claydude14 Posted June 28, 2006 Report Posted June 28, 2006 Yes, I got one last night. It's so much better than the original, although the buttons and position of everything takes some getting used to since I'm used to the DS Heavy.
AndrewTS Posted June 28, 2006 Report Posted June 28, 2006 Attention Anya- DS Lite in Pink hits Japan: http://www.gamespot.com/news/6153282.html
FroGG_NeaL Posted July 5, 2006 Report Posted July 5, 2006 There's a navy blue one? Son of a bitch, I already got the white one. I love this thing way too much. Once I realized that shit could go from the bottom screen to the top in some of the Bonus Games on Mario, I marked the fuck out.
Garth Posted July 5, 2006 Report Posted July 5, 2006 The countdown is on, only 3 days until I get my Lite now. Huzzah.
FroGG_NeaL Posted July 6, 2006 Report Posted July 6, 2006 Navy Blue isn't in the US tho. Ah, that explains why I didn't know about it.
AndrewTS Posted July 21, 2006 Report Posted July 21, 2006 From 1up.com Nintendo Comments on DS Lites 'Cracking' Apparently occurs in less than 0.02% of DS Lites. by Patrick Klepek, 07/20/2006 In recent weeks, a number of blog posts have gamers frantic over whether the hinges on their DS Lites are going to start cracking, resulting in a slightly dysfunctional looking dual-screened handheld. Fortunately, if you're unhappy with the malfunctioning plastic, it appears Nintendo will be helpful with their usually-friendly warranty, even if they consider it a cosmetic issue. "In the U.S., the reported number of small cosmetic cracks in the plastic hinge of DS Lite systems represents less than 0.02 percent of the total units sold," said the company in a statement today. "This cosmetic issue in no way impacts the gameplay or integrity of the DS Lite. Nintendo stands behind the quality of our products and encourages DS Lite owners to contact our Customer Service Department if they are not happy with the functionality of their systems." Has your DS Lite cracked yet? Mine's still rocking, despite intense amounts of New Super Mario Bros. use. Let us know. Just in case anyone has this problem, there won't be any problems getting it taken care of. Nintendo isn't going to tell you "it's a feature, not a defect."
dubq Posted July 21, 2006 Report Posted July 21, 2006 Navy Blue isn't in the US tho. Ah, that explains why I didn't know about it. That said, you can still get it off of ebay. The Japanese version is the exact same as the US version, you just have to change the system language when you first boot it up. That's how I got my black one, and it came to the same price if I had've ordered it from EB or any other store online.
AndrewTS Posted July 21, 2006 Report Posted July 21, 2006 However, if anything goes wrong with it, I doubt NOA will be wild about servicing it.
AndrewTS Posted August 24, 2006 Report Posted August 24, 2006 Update: Onyx and Coral Pink hit the US September 13th. (Credit: 1up.com) http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3153112 Still no green...
EricMM Posted August 24, 2006 Report Posted August 24, 2006 Does Onxy mean black? And, has anyone heard anything about Starfox? Is it a good game?
Sideburnious Posted September 4, 2006 Report Posted September 4, 2006 I got my DS Lite the other day (decided to just go for the white as I didnt really care if it was black or white) and just got New Super Mario bros with it. The only downside so far is more to do with the game (my friend has a US version, I have a EU version and the two wont sync up) but other than that its great.
daileyxplanet Posted November 16, 2006 Report Posted November 16, 2006 I just got one two days ago with Star Fox Command, and I decided to revitalize this. Right now my Christmas list looks like this... New Super Mario Bros. Mario Kart DS Yoshi's Island DS Trauma Center: Under The Knife Suggest more. Now.
Boner Kawanger Posted November 16, 2006 Report Posted November 16, 2006 True Swing Golf and Brain Age are good and cheap. So is Sonic Rush, and I kinda like it. Kirby's Canvas Curse is short, but one of the best uses of the stylus and fun. A lot of people like the Phoenix Wright games, if I could find them, I would buy them. The CastleVania games are great. I also got the first Tony Hawk game, and its faithful to the formula of old. So if you're a Tony Hawk fan, give it a try. I could go on and on. Has anyone picked up Yoshi's Island yet? I'm waiting until I finish my term paper, and it is hell.
Sideburnious Posted November 17, 2006 Report Posted November 17, 2006 Mario Hoops 3-on-3 is a great game for getting used to the stylus. I just got my hands on FF3 today. I can't wait to get into it.
AndrewTS Posted November 17, 2006 Report Posted November 17, 2006 OMG Super Princess Peach is SEXIST! http://www.kotaku.com/gaming/mario/peach-e...size-215447.php
AndrewTS Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 http://kotaku.com/gaming/wario/wario-maste...dead-217849.php Wario Thief hasn't been canceled after all! http://www.jeux-france.com/news18241_wario...s-d-images.html
Anya Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 OMG Super Princess Peach is SEXIST! I'd rather play an over the top girly character then many of the lame female main characters in games.
Invictus Posted December 12, 2006 Author Report Posted December 12, 2006 Incredibly, Dragon Quest 9 is going to come out not for the PS3, not for the Wii...but for the DS! It's also going to be playable online. Seems like the working title right now is "Dragon Quest IX: Protector of The Starry Skies" http://ds.ign.com/articles/750/750590p1.html http://www.1up.com/do/gameOverview?cId=3155836 This seems almost unprecedented, a full-fledged continuation of a japanese RPG franchise being produced exclusively for a handheld system. As if it wasn't obvious enough before, the DS is now going to be unstoppable in Japan, where DQ is king.
AndrewTS Posted December 12, 2006 Report Posted December 12, 2006 Squeenix is going to milk that FF3 DS engine for a while, it seems. Considering how long it will be before the game comes out, I guess they felt PS2 was going to be a dead system by then. Yeah, the visuals are going to take a hit on DS, but remember that DQVIII was the only main DQ game that didn't look completely like ass. EDIT: DQ9 gameplay footage- http://www.gamebrink.com/news/735-Dragon_Q...ay_Footage.html
treble Posted December 13, 2006 Report Posted December 13, 2006 Is it almost impossible to find accessories for a regular DS now? I thought I lost my stylus last week, even though I found it, I still looked a bit last time I was in a few department stores and none of them seemed to carry anything other than DS Lite accessories. I guess if I checked someplace like EB I could find them if I needed to, just something that would be a pain in the ass down the road if discontinued.
AndrewTS Posted December 13, 2006 Report Posted December 13, 2006 Pelican has a metal stylus/screen protector set I've still found in some Circuit Cities. The Lite stylus of course still works but it just won't fit in the DS. I prefer the full sized retractable pen stylus over either of them, though. You could just put one of them in your pocket. Screen protectors for Lite work with a simple trim. The original DS charger is identical to the GBA SP charger, while I'm fairly sure the Lite and the GBA Micro use the same charger.
Invictus Posted December 16, 2006 Author Report Posted December 16, 2006 A video showing some of the in-game graphics and gameplay mechanics for Dragon Quest IX, looks really sharp for the DS. http://www.gamevideos.com/video/id/8038
Lightning Flik Posted December 25, 2006 Report Posted December 25, 2006 Well, I just got myself a DS-lite for Christmas and Full Metal Alchemist: Dual Sympathy. I'm kinda wishing I had more money because FMA:DS was beaten within 10 hours. Good game, but damn short.
EricMM Posted December 25, 2006 Report Posted December 25, 2006 Jeez, man. In other news, I just got one as well (gonna take it to work) I suppose there is a whole PLETHORA of games I should get, right?
