slabinskia 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2006 Like the title says, what ring of honor dvds are worth getting ?I haven't seen much roh so take that into consideration.
Guest GoJoe Report post Posted May 28, 2006 I'd check out the Milestone series, specifically the Wrestlemania weekend shows which are Dragon Gate Challenge, Supercard of Honor and the soon to be released Better Than Our Best.
Cuban Linx 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2006 In general you want to get the more recent stuff, ROH from April 04 to present is where the good stuff is, before that the shows are very hit and miss.
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2006 Right now, ROH is having a $10 sale for select dvd’s so that’s a good chance to into some of the older stuff that’s worth getting… I’d rec’d these shows from the $10 sale Night of The Champions Epic Encounter Death Before Dishonor Main Event Spectacles War of the Wire ROH Reborn: Stage 2 Testing the Limits Midnight Express Reunion 3YA Night 2 Back to Basics The Final Showdown Nowhere to Run These are the non-sale dvds that are “must own” 2002 Unscripted Glory by Honor At Our Best Generation Next Death Before Dishonor II Part 2 All Star Extravaganza II Final Battle 04 Manhattan Mayhem Redemption Punk: The Final Chapter Joe Vs Kobashi This Means War Final Battle 05 Tag Wars 06 4YA Best in the World Dragon Date Challenge Supercard of Honor There's alot of great matches not included because they were on "one match shows", such as Joe/Punk 1 and II, Gibson/Danielson and Danielson/Strong II. I was going for more complete shows.
Kardo 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2006 I'd add Vendetta and Survival of the Fittest 2004 to that list. Danielson/Strong II is on a great show, with Joe/Daniels and Gen Next vs. the Embassy.
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2006 Vendetta, really was just a one match show for me. As great as Roddy/Danielson was, the rest was flat. There's better Joe/Daniels and Embassy/Gen Next stuff out there. JvPII was obviously great but I wouldn't rec'd as a whole, some shows can lack a ****+ match but still be worthwhile because it was strong throughout. Guest aural angel dust Report post Posted May 29, 2006 I'd recommend Vendetta, it was all good apart from the Adam Pearce squash which, yes, is a squash. I think it might also be the one where Colt Cabana cuts his only decent serious face promo and Claudio gets dumped on his head. Twice. You can't really go wrong with it. Manhatten Mayhem is consistent all the way through. And all the tag team matches from Tag Wars 2006 make that one worth getting despite most of the singles matches blowing. JustJoe2k5 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2006 I'll recommend the original All-Star Extravaganza from '02. -An above average spotfest between Da Hit Squad / Divine Storm / Special K / The S.A.T. -A gauntlet series that includes A.J. Styles, Bryan Danielson, Paul London, and Red -An appearance from a fairly recognizable name in Philadelphia -A great six-man tag team match in Christopher Daniels, Donovan Morgan, and Samoa Joe vs. Doug Williams, Homicide, and Low Ki -And a Zero-One tag team main event between Low Ki / Steve Corino and Masato Tanaka / Shinjiro Otani And it's only $12 at rohwrestling.com. tigeraid 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2006 Whew... just my personal suggestions: Punk: The Final Chapter Final Battle 2005 Joe vs Kobashi Weekend of Thunder 1 and 2 Dragon Gate Invasion Dragon Gate Challenge
Guest Coffey Report post Posted May 29, 2006 Joe Vs. Kobashi & Manhattan Mayhem are the two best I've seen. They'll hook ya if you're not already hooked. Joe Vs. Kobashi is a main event that lived up to all the hype. Manhattan Mayhem is just a great, all-around card. Very entertaining.
Coolclint 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2006 Supercard of Honor, what with its run of awesome that includes GenNext (Aries/Evans) vs. Sydal/Styles, Danielson vs. Strong 3, and the best match I've seen live, Blood Generation vs. DO-FIXER six-man tag.
Guest BarnacleBill Report post Posted June 8, 2006 I'm about 2 and a half hours into Better than our best and it might be the best roh show I've ever seen,it doesn't have a match as blow away as the dg 6-man from 3/31 but what it does have is constant good to great wrestling. Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2006 The entire MILESTONE SERIES was just great stuff, even Arena Warfare which was easily the weakest show still had some good stuff. Nothing will top Do-Fixer/Blood Generation this year. Easily the MOTY.
DMann2003 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2006 I like War of the Wire a lot- just rewatched the AJ Styles/Samoa Joe match, felt good to see such hard hitting wrestling again And that Barb Wire match? Not pretty, but not boring either And yes Manhattan Mayhem maybe one of the best top-to-bottom shows I've seen from any group, up there with Canadian Stampede and Great American Bash 1989
hyperchord24 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2006 I can't find any of this stuff on rohwrestling.com. Can you find it anywhere else?
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2006 I can't find any of this stuff on rohwrestling.com. Can you find it anywhere else? How can you not find it? Go to ROHwrestling.com and click on SHOP ONLINE and go to RING OF HONOR DVD's and select the show you want. A handful of shows are out of print (being remastered) but about 90% of them are available for purchase, including the highly praised Milestone Series. Mole 0 Report post Posted June 20, 2006 I got the 3rd Anniversary show today, that I bought on eBay. It is pretty good so far, but I only got to the Punk/Spanky match. It is my first taste of ROH, so, they might have gotten a new fan. And it looks like bob barron is in the crowd.
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted June 20, 2006 Yep, I was there for that show. I forget if that's the match where I started feeling sick or not.

Guest Timmer Report post Posted June 26, 2006 Between you guys talking about it on here, you tube, and the WWE product being what it is... looks like it's time to invest some time and see what ROH is all about. Sounds like some really good suggestions that people made here. Going with the Generation Next DVD and two tix to the next Philly show.
Garth 0 Report post Posted June 28, 2006 That's great you're taking an interest in the product. I feel a more recent DVD would have been the way to go, so that you were more aware of the current product going into the show. I suggest getting up to date with the video updates that ROH puts out. They can be found at: ROH Videos

They can be found at: ROH Videos I can understand what you mean by going with a more recent DVD and there were a couple that were suggested in this thread that looked promising. I elected to go with hopefully a "safe" pick since I have had some exposure to seeing Shelley, Strong, and Aries in TNA and have enjoyed what I have seen and figure that they are even better in ROH. I am hoping that the Philly show will be good and I can see whole matches to determine how much I am going to like the current product...
