Marlins have been on a bit of a winning streak lately. They're dangerously close to surpassing the Pirates and no longer having the worst record in the NL! Yes!

When I left Comerica, the Cubs were up 2-1 in the 7th, but I didn't expect them to hold it. I came home and see they're in the 13th after having made a 9th-inning comeback. But I also see that for some reason, both Jones and Murton are out of the game and thus, we have an outfield of Bynum, Pierre, and Mabry. Huh?!

P.S. the Youkillis homer was a pure markout moment.

The A's game clocked in at a brisk 2:03, probably one of the shortest games I've been too. I was at the game with my brother and with the A's up 1-0 in the 8th inning I thought they were pressing their luck by hoping Kirk Saarloos would continue to pitch a shutout even with a low pitch count. He walked the lead off batter in the inning, Justin Morneau was up next and in the middle of the at bat I told my brother "you know, the A's are gong to lose this game."

Next pitch, homerun, Twins win 2-1. I'm a pessimistic prophet!

Walker came dangerously close to washing away their scoring chance there, but hey, game of inches and all. I don't wish it had kept going, but it would've been interesting to see who the Cards would've sent out there if there had been a 15th. They were out of pitchers, so a position player probably would've had to take the mound.

It seems like no matter how bad the Cubs are, they seem to be able to pluck more wins than they should against the Cards.

And man, oh man, do Astros fans thank them for that. Yeah, but it's weird how well the Cubs play against the Cardinals. It's kinda like how usually the Pirates suck against everybody, but they always play the Astros really hard.

Gagne's going to be coming in to finish this abortion of a game from the pitching perspective of the Dodgers.

Yeah, you guys fucked up tonight. It was 5-3 LA when I last checked the score, now it's 8-6 Phillies.

How DO you walk 2 guys, give up 3 hits and 5 ER without recording an out in just 17 pitches anyway?

I have no clue.

Gagne doesn't look good and the break on his pitches wasn't there, until that pitch to Rowand.

Nomar is 15-19 past the 7th inning over his last 20 games.

Guzman can make an early impact.

A double play impact.

Nomar and Tim Thomas clearly made deals with the devil at roughly the same time.

I'd love to see Flash give up a 3 run GW HR right about now.

What is a concern, is what they'll do with Nomar when Izturis comes back.

I would hope Grady Little has enough common sense to not move Nomar to a position where he'll be at a high risk of injury (i.e. any position other than first base).

Izturis could see some time at 3B, or Furcal to 3B and Izzy to SS, or one at second, the other at SS, and Kent at 3B.

Or he'll get traded.

Ugh...my Brewers have been sucking lately, having lost their last six in a row, worst losing streak of the season for them. Just goes to show how much damage losing two starting pitchers (Sheets, Ohka) can do.

Or like how all the shitty teams in the NL lie down for the Cardinals and play the Cubs hard

That's presuming that a team with Pujols, Rolen, Carpenter, Isringhausen, and SOOOOOO~! Taguchi is on the same level as a team with Neifi Perez, John Mabry, Glendon Rusch, and Tony Womack...

It's not that they play the Cardinals weak or the Cubs hard...it's just that...it's the Cardinals...and...the...Cubs.

I have to ask; Would Cubs fans prefer Don Baylor managing the Cubs again over Dusty Baker?

...or perhaps Jim Riggleman? Best manager the Cubs ever had.

We remember Baylor, but it's also been pointed out how several of the former Cubs managers won more games in a season than Baker ever has with the team and yet, they've all been fired eventually. It annoys us that Baker seems to be untouchable, regardless of how the team plays.

That said, Neifi's batting second today.

Oh, I just noticed that Perez is in there in favor of Todd Walker. I got so used to be Perez only being in there when Walker was over at first, but with Nevin in there, Walker's riding the pine in favor of Oompa Perez.

Mets/Giants about to start about 3 hours later than scheduled.

Winn doubles already.

I've come to terms with the fact that I won't be able to watch the first Mets game (thanks Fox!), but does anyone know on what channel the second game will be broadcasted, if it's going to be broadcasted at all?

The second game should be on SNY based on what I saw earlier on their little scroll thing at the bottom of the screen.

Thanks, that's good to hear. I feared it would only be on WB 11 or something similar.

The Mets fail to score with a runner on 3rd and 1 out yet again. I asked before, but does anyone have that chart that shows the likelihood of scoring with the different baserunner/out scenarios?
