Detailed Impact Taping Spoilers

Report by Alan Wojcik on 05/29/2006 at 11:56 PM

Welcome to a Memorial Day marathon Spike TV/TNA Wrestling taping where we will find out the entire roster for the King of the Mountain match at Slammiversary. Three episodes of Impact will be taped today and played over the Thursdays before the June 18th PPV. “X Division Killer” Kevin Nash might make an appearance or two. There are stories that World X Division champion Samoa Joe tore his calf muscle during the last tapings. If this is true I wish him a speedy recovery so he can be on the PPV. On the hard camera was a “Get Well Evan Starsmore” sign. Still no sign of Lance Hoyt, Matt Bentley, Traci Brooks, Austin Aires or Cassidy Riley.

Hour one features:

Before the opening match, Jeff Jarrett charged out and demanded who his opponent tonight is. He then brought Scott Steiner who looked like he was going to beat the answer out of Don West. They dragged West into the ring and demanded an answer and also asked for Larry Zbyszko to come to the ring. Instead they got STING!!! Jarrett tired to leave but Raven came out and attacked him. Shockingly we didn’t get an answer to the matches, or did we??

(1) In a non-title match, NWA World Tag Team champions America’s Most Wanted (“Tennessee Cowboy” James Storm and “Wildcat” Chris Harris w/Gail Kim) defeated former three time champions the Naturals (Chase Stevens and Andy Douglas.)

The Naturals sported new ring gear and the same desire to kick AMW’s asses. The Naturals had control until Douglas got too close to Harris and was hit with a clothesline as Storm sent Douglas to a corner. AMW and Kim worked over Douglas but couldn’t get the pin. Douglas and Storm collided mid ring and it became a race to the corners to tag out. Stevens looked like victory in hand but Gail Kim got on the apron to use the bayonet. Rudy Charles saw it, so did AJ styles and Christopher Daniels who took it away from Kim. None of them saw Harris deck Douglas with the handcuffs. Charles saw the cuffs and ordered Harris to get rid of them. Daniels offered the bayonet to Stevens but he declined. He should have taken it because he got knocked out by Storm and the infamous beer bottle. After the match AMW cuffed Douglas to the bottom rope and beat down The Naturals.

Jeremy Borash spoke to Alex Shelley about his involvement with Kevin Nash. Nash joined him and boasted about being Shelley’s new tripod.

(2) In a King of the Mountain qualifier, Jeff Jarrett (w/Gail Kim) defeated Raven.

This match began in the crowd and Raven used trash can lids on Jarrett’s head. The action came back to the ring. Jarrett hit Raven with a chair but Raven fired back with punches and the discus clothesline. Again they left the ring and went into the fans, along the barricades. Raven put Jarrett on a table but missed his elbow drop. Jarrett tried to capitalize and used a chair on Raven’s head. The fight went to the concession stand where Jarrett used the dreaded Relish to the eyes maneuver. Raven suplexed Jarrett into a folding table and brawled around to one of the entry ways and finally back towards the ring. Raven grabbed the chair and went to town on Jarrett. Jarrett countered the Raven Effect while Raven countered the Stroke. Raven went for a corner move but Andrews Thomas was pulled in the way by Jarrett. As Thomas lay in the ring, Raven locked Jarrett in a sleeper hold but Jarrett countered. Raven grabbed the guitar and was ready to deck Jarrett but Larry Zbyszko stopped him. Jarrett grabbed the guitar but Zbyszko stopped him too. Raven got control and “accidentally” decked Zbyszko. Jarrett hit Raven with the Stroke and pinned Raven to the crowd’s displeasure.

(3) Jay Lethal defeated Alex Shelley (w/Kevin Nash.)

I sensed some animosity (not Ana Mosity) between Lethal and Shelley during the World X Cup matches. So now they can beat each other up legally. Lethal went on the attack with a back suplex for two but Shelley countered a full nelson. Shelley went to work on Shelley’s left arm and shoulder. Shelley stayed in the arm for several minutes but didn’t get a submission. Lethal got on the offensive after avoiding Shelley’s corner splash. Lethal became the “Lethal Weapon” but Shelley hit a kick to the shoulder. He asked Nash to get on the apron. Nash put up his elbow but Lethal sent Shelley into the elbow and rolled up Shelley for the pin. After the match ended Nash and Shelley went to attack Lethal but Chris Sabin came out. To everyone’s surprise Nash ran for his life. Sabin said “he knew Nash would run because his back wasn’t turned.” Sabin called out Nash to wrestle on the PPV.

Jeremy Borash spoke to Team 3D about the James Gang parody on Impact last week. Things got a little blue and “the Bingo Hall” and “the Arena” were mentioned. Larry Zbyszko listened to AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels ask for a match with AMW at the PPV. “Slick” Mark Johnson came in the office said the new face of TNA might be here before the PPV. Borash tried to speak to the LAX about why the Spanish announcers weren’t working, he was told to leave.

Hour two features:

(1) In a King of the Mountain qualifier, Sting defeated “Big Poppa Pump” Scott Steiner (w/Gail Kim) via DQ.

Flashback city was the place this match took place in. sting and Steiner traded punches and kicks. Steiner went to the floor and Sting followed. Sting sent Steiner in the barricades and then hit him with a chair. They came back to the ring but Steiner hit Sting in his package. Steiner did the pump up elbow and pushups. Steiner hit a belly to belly suplex and then stretched him on the mat in a modified STF. Sting refused to submit and Steiner hit another suplex. Sting fought out of a superplex and sent Steiner to the mat. Sting came off the top with a clothesline. Both men got to their feet and traded punches. Sting got the offense and after several moves went for the Stinger Splash but Steiner pulled the Hebner brother in front. Gail Kim went to hit Sting with a chair but Sting stopped her. Jarrett hit the ring and Sting with the Stroke but got two on the pin. Several pin attempts and chicanery happened but the referee called for the bell and gave the match to Sting. After the match Steiner and Jarrett went to beat down Sting but Ron Killings ran out. Abyss came out and jumped Killings. They were joined by Christian Cage who sent Jarrett, Steiner and Abyss out of the ring.

Steiner took the house mic and threw a temper tantrum about losing the match. He called for Larry Zbyszko to come to the ring and held the show hostage. Chasyn Rance came out for his match but Steiner told him to hit the bricks. Instead of Rance, Steiner got NWA World X Division champion Samoa Joe who came out to confront Steiner. The two fought as security tried to break it up. Joe remembered to take his towel with him in the event he needed to hitchhike.

Konnan left the Spanish table and joined Tenay and West for commentary.

(2) Sonjay Dutt defeated “Mr. 630” Jerrelle Clark.

Both men tried to get on the offense but neither could gain total control. Clark caught Dutt on the ropes in a stretch of sorts. Dutt hit a slingshot dropkick Clark right in the face and then hit a springboard legdrop for two. Clark avoided contact and went up for the 630 splash but missed. Dutt got the victory with a standing shooting star press.

(3) “the Future” Chris Sabin and the James Gang (Kip and BG James) defeated Team Canada members “Showtime” Eric Young, A1 and “Canadian Enforcer” Bobby Roode (w/Scott D’amore in a different workout outfit).

Kevin Nash and Alex Shelley watched the match from a painter’s lift. Team Canada was on the defensive for several moments until A1 decked Sabin from behind as he looked towards Nash. It also helped the referee was trying to keep Roode out of the ring. Sabin got beat down for several (and I do mean several) minutes until he was able to tag out to Kip James. The James Gang cleaned house on the Canadians while Sabin hit Young with a tope to the floor. Roode hit Kip with an Acecrusher and went to use the hockey stick but Rhino ran out and chased Roode to the back. This left A1 to be hit by the Famouser and then pinned by Sabin.

Christy Hemme came out and handed Tenay and West another note. West told the fans that the new face of TNA will debut at Slammiversary and announced Steiner vs .Joe for the PPV.

Hour three features:

NWA World Heavyweight champion “Captain Charisma” Christian Cage came out to talk to his peeps about the King of the Mountain match. He talked about all of his opponents in mocking fashion. But when he got to Sting, he had to say it to his face as Sting came down to the ring. Sting wanted to tell Cage and the fans his whole purpose to coming to TNA to take out Jeff Jarrett. Cage didn’t believe him and said Sting was lying through his Noxema face paint. Cage and Sting traded verbal shots about the match that need to be heard in person, watch Impact for all the laughs.

(1) Diamonds in the Rough members “Primetime” Elix Skipper and David Young (w/Simon Diamond) defeated The Naturals (Chase Stevens and Andy Douglas).

The Naturals and the Diamonds had control of the match at different times but neither established total control. The Naturals hit Young with the Natural Disaster but Simon Diamond slid in and hit Douglas with a chain shot to the neck. After the match ended the Naturals chased Diamond over to the LAX side of town but the LAX fought with the Naturals. “The Franchise” Shane Douglas came out and tossed the Naturals in the ring. Douglas took the house mic and said they have squandered their talent. Douglas brought up the late Chris Candido, who managed the Naturals to their second NWA World Tag Team title reign. He asked them if they wanted his help. As he talked to the Naturals he spoke about some Irish guy and his extreme event. I guess they accepted and Shane Douglas is now the manager of the Naturals.

As Tenay and West spoke to the home crowd “Slick” Mark Johnson ran out and told them the new face of TNA was here.

(2) In his X Division debut, Kevin Nash (w/Alex Shelley) defeated Mr. X (a two foot tall wrestler).

Nash took the mic and said he knew it was Chris Sabin minus the lifts in his shoes. This was a match for the ages, NOT. Nash beat up the little person with help from Shelley. The match finally ended with a mini jack knife power bomb.

(3) NWA World Tag Team champions America’s Most Wanted (“Tennessee Cowboy” James Storm and “Wildcat” Chris Harris w/Gail Kim), “Alpha Male” Monty Brown and “Canadian Enforcer” Bobby Roode defeated “Phenomenal” AJ Styles, “Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels, Raven and “War Machine” Rhino.

Some PPV opponents faced off in this encounter that made me feel bad for Mark Johnson. Daniels and friends dominated the match until Storm hit Styles with a Northern Lights Bomb to the corner. AMW, Roode and Brown took turns throwing Styles around the ring. Styles survived and tagged out to Rhino. Everyone got involved and numerous close pins occurred (too much happened to keep up with.) Gail Kim hit Daniels with a tornado DDT and Brown came in for the POUNCE!!!

The following matches were taped for the syndicated Xplosion show:

(1) Ron “the Truth” Killings defeated Diamonds in the Rough member “Primetime” Elix Skipper (w/Simon Diamond) when he hit the scissor kick.

(2) Sonjay Dutt and “the Future” Chris Sabin defeated Team Canada members Petey Williams and “Showtime” Eric Young. Williams went to use powder but Dutt kicked it in his eyes. This caused Williams to hit Young with the Canadian Destroyer. Sabin hit Williams with the Cradle Shock.

(3) “Alpha Male” Monty Brown defeated Diamonds in the Rough member David Young (w/Simon Diamond) with the POUNCE!!! After the match Brown gave Diamond a POUNCE!!

Announced matches for Slammiversary on June 18th:

**In the King of the Mountain Match, NWA World Heavyweight champion “Captain Charisma” Christian Cage vs. Abyss vs. Ron “the Truth” Killings vs. Jeff Jarrett vs. Sting

**NWA World Tag Team champions America’s Most Wanted (“Tennessee Cowboy” James Storm and “Wildcat” Chris Harris w/Gail Kim) vs. “Phenomenal” AJ Styles and “Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels

**NWA World X Division champion Samoa Joe vs. “Big Poppa Pump” Scott Steiner

**In a rematch from Sacrifice, Team 3D vs. the James Gang (Kip and BG James)

**“War Machine” Rhino vs. Scott D’amore and Bobby Roode

**Kevin Nash vs. “the Future” Chris Sabin

I am down with the rest of the buildup to this PPV. If I weren't a poor ol college kid, I'd buy this with no hesitation.

I was surprised that the qualifiers were those. Didn't think they'd give away Jarrett v Raven and Sting v Steiner on free tv.

I'm glad Christian had some shots at the challengers. He needs to bring back some personality.

Steiner and Joe should be interesting. I'm just wondering how they'll book this match.

Why does it seem that the iMPACT after every PPV, Jeff Jarrett comes out and "DEMANDS Mike Tenay and Don West tell him who his next opponent is". Why would an announcer know? Why not ask Zybyzsko?

It's really a shame that Raven has to job to Jarrett yet AGAIN. Nash in the X-Division makes me quite happy for some reason. I hope some good comes of this angle.

Dave Meltzer reports that Raven vs. Monty Brown is likely for Slammiversary

Which means Raven will be jobbing to him.

I do feel sorry for the man, but he does look like hell and needs to get into better shape before he becomes a contender again.

The reason Raven looks out of shape is because he is having thyroid problems stemming from a combo of steroid, drug, and alcohol abuse.

That said, he shouldn't be wrestling. He should be looking to get healthier.

How many times can the Naturals be handcuffed to a rope or railing by the AMW before they FINALLY bring a handcuff key to the ring with them?!?!

When it gets done to you every damn time, you aren't being booked as morons. You are being booked as mentally retarded.

No one will ever be booked as the stupid babyface worse than Sting back in the late 80s, early 90s. The man was dumb as a rock.

Raven will be valuable to pro-wrestling long after he is done IN the ring. Lets just hope he doesn't overdo it in the ring, causing him to leave the business in a less then flattering way.

I really want Raven to have a great last run in the ring before he decides to retire. He has been my favourite wrestler since i first saw him in ECW.

Remember when he was locked in a cage by the Horseman and was rescued by Robocop?

Arn Anderson running scared from Robocop will haunt my nightmares for years.
