Guest Jack Potts Report post Posted May 31, 2006 Bobby Lashley's about the only reason I tune into Smackdown these days, and I'm impressed with his improvement over the last several months. He seems much more comfortable in the ring, and is establishing a rapport with the fans. He is slowly settling into his character, too. I applaud the WWE for their careful cultivation of Lashley since he debuted. With that said, what's going on with his finisher? Is it now The Spear or is it still The Dominator? I haven't seen Lashley bust out The Dominator in at least a month. Although Lashley's use of the move Goldberg made famous is much more impressive than Edge's use of the same move, The Dominator is much more unique and intimidating as a finisher. (Note the great pains I took NOT to construct a sentence that involved the phrases "Lashley's Spear," "compare," and "Edge's Spear." You're welcome.) Although it could still make a good set-up for The Dominator, the racial connotations of a big, Black man using a finisher called "The Spear" are a little unnerving. Bring back The Dominator! Guest Coffey Report post Posted May 31, 2006 I think they're just trying to show that he's a big powerhouse that can win with any big powerhouse move. He's won with the Dominator, Spear and Powerbomb (according to Smackdown Spoilers) now. Kinda like they did with Batista when he had the Batista Bomb, Spinebuster and Clothesline. veseo 0 Report post Posted May 31, 2006 Actually I like more the Spear, despite the fact it's more of a generic finisher than any modification of The Dominator. Can't say I would be disappointed if they bring back the Dom, though.
hyperchord24 0 Report post Posted May 31, 2006 I hate the spear. Wait, check that. I hate it when the wrong people use it as their finisher. And, of course, how too many people use it. The dominator works well if you take it correctly. If you take the bump with your hands and knees, it looks like "ow, I got a nasty rug burn." And comes off as weak and lame. You have to land right on your stomach

You have to land right on your stomach The only people I have seen recently to make the spear look devasting are Rhino and Goldberg. Edge looks like a little girl running over to hug her daddy and Lashley looks like he's roughhousing with his little brother. I understand its to protect the other wrestler from injury but for goodness sake, Jericho's Lionsault looks more painful than the spears of those two. Guest Fook Report post Posted June 1, 2006 Lashley's spear doesn't look that good, but there's nothing wrong with having multiple finishers. If booked right, the Dominator could be a sort of super finisher like Angle's heel hook in that he only busts it out in special situations and once applied, you know it's over. I think it would be cool if WWE guys used the Japanese style of finishing moves. Guys kick out of finishers so much nowadays, that it'd be nice to have moves you know will end it if they hit. Guys can have their basic finisher, and their super finisher.

John Cena kind of has one with the STFU, but that will soon go away. How about... The Real FU, which is an actual DVD as opposed to the Super Fireman's Carry. Mark Henry Worldest Strongest Splash a 747 off the top Big Show... bring back the Final Cut. I marked the shit for that. Taker/Kane have the Tombstone, so... Carlito... Not Cool Clash... Styles Clash here folks. Great Khali... Mongolian CHOP!!! It's two of them there for twice as deadly. HHH doesn't need one. Seriously. The Pedigree owns all. I'm going to keep thinking on this... DangerousDamon 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2006 Orton's got the avalanche RKO. That's the only other super finisher I can think of.
Just John 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2006 Edge should use the Impaler DDT as his super finisher. Cena could at least use the sit down FU variation where his opponent lands in the MD2 position. Booker T should bring back the Book-end or Harlem Hangover for his super finisher.

haws bah gawd 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2006 I know a wrestler always wants to look out for their opponent to prevent injury, but a super finisher for HHH could be him simply keeping the arms hooked on the Pedigree throughout the move instead of releasing them in mid air. Gregory Helms could of course use the Vertebreaker. Big Show could go back to using either the Final Cut or the Alley Oop.

Dobbs 3K 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2006 Triple H is a guy who really should've developed an alternate finisher by now, if just for variety. They tried to give him one for a while with the sleeper hold (remember that???), but that didn't last long.

That counts as a finisher.
Just John 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2006 To be fair, I'm glad they didn't go anywhere with the "Main Event Sleeper." I don't think he used the Indian Deathlock as a finisher, just as a weardown move when working someone's leg. WWE would never allow it, but he could try a safer version of the Pedigree '97 (or whatever year he dropped that jobber on his head)... Sort of a double-underhook tombstone.
