Batista came out, called out Mark Henry, he came down the walkway then Mysterio came down, Henry tossed Mysterio into the wall and Batista destroyed Henry.

 

 

It does have the battle royal as listed in the WWE.com preview, so they could be legit, and they don't sound too inaccurate.

Not that it matters much any more but it sounds like the unexpected will finally happen...RVD and Booker will have both become World Champions...Booker only to lose it to Batista...hopefully not right away as Booker will be a great heel champ

I'll be missing the show this week, but doesn't seem like there's a lot to it. Booker predictably gets his title shot, Rey gets treated like crap, Batista beats up Henry.

 

I'm curious about the Lashley/Finlay/Regal 3-way. If Finlay and Regal would fight each other, that match could be really good. Hopefully they stray from the generic 2 heels vs. 1 face 3-way formula (heels work together for 2/3 of the match, start fighting once one goes for a cover, brawl, face comes back, big spot, finish).

The reason the Khali/Tatanka match went NC was because Davari had a casket brought to ringside, and after Khali opened it to put Tatanka into it, the casket had smoke come out. Taker's voice boomed out he accepted the challenge.

 

The battle royal wasn't too bad.

The annoying part about the battle royal was the fact that they didn't even announce what the point of the battle royal was. I assumed it was for the No. 1 Contendership for the US Title since Lashley wasn't in it.

 

Booker, Kennedy, Finlay, Regal, and Matt Hardy were the only credible guys involved, with the rest being the cruisers/jobbers. It came down to the Kings Court with Kennedy vs. London, Kendrick, & Hardy. The Court threw Kennedy to the three faces, and he got tossed. Finally, it came down to Hardy against Booker & Regal. This went on for a few minutes with Booker mostly staying to the side. Booker won after simultaneously tossing them both. "All Hail King Booker" went on for a few minutes after.

 

Rey looked like a complete jobber. Nothing new, but all he had was an interview saying how great it is to be champion and then came out and got destroyed by Henry later. He needed to be helped to the back.

 

Overall, the show, minus the battle royal and Batista return was dreadfully boring to be honest. Maybe it'll come off better on TV. The crowd was apparently saving the excitement all night for Batista and Raw.

 

Not only was Shelton in the dark match, but he had to use a "hold the ropes" cheap pin to win.

I want to say in between the battle royal and Kennedy match, but Sylvain Grenier also came to the ring as Ambassador of Quebec. All he did was recommend Quebec as a good vacation spot for summer, nothing outlandishly heel-like like saying the US sucks. There's the ultimate heel: giving advice for a nice summer vacation.

I'm excited by it too. Sadly I don't think it will last for very long though. King Booker's Court should steal the tag titles from London and Kendrick, who can then join forces with Batista and/or Rey against them. That could make for some fucking great combinations of matches over a period of a few months.

Man, the worst thing I think I ever saw as a wrestling storyline wasn't Katie Vick, but rather the build-up to the HHH - Booker T championship match at Wrestlemania, with HHH implying that "Booker's Kind" (ie, African-Americans for those who forgot) were below him, then have HHH go over CLEANLY.

 

Really, if I were African-American, I would have stopped watching wrestling period after that day. I stopped for like 3 months after that mania. Katie Vick was just stupid as a storyline, that HHH_Booker T storyline with that ending was just...I don't even know how to describe it. MAybe if it led to Ron Simmons taking the title off of HHH....

I wonder if Booker will do that and call himself a 6-time World Champion or just 5-time WCW and 1-time World (Heavyweight?) Champion.

 

On a side note, I'm looking forward to Smackdown this week with the Battle Royal and Batista's Henry-beating return more than any Raw or SD all year. Even the randomness of Lashley vs Helms intrigues me, hopefully its not a total squash.
