Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2006 Well, I feel I hit a low point today. I got tickets for a game at Wrigley the day they went on sale. After failing to getting any of the marquee match-ups, I opted to pick up three for one against the Mets. As some of you will recall, I went to the Cubs/Indians series a few weeks back (June 19-21). Apparently that was enough to throw me off on when the Cubs/Mets game was, since I'd been telling my two friends it was July 21. I knew they were playing today, but thinking they were at Wrigley next weekend, I figured they had to be in New York THIS weekend. Nu-uh. I turned on the game about an hour into it to see them in Wrigley and to my horror, I realized the game we had tickets for was today. I'm trying to console myself by the fact that they were getting spanked and now they're in a rain delay, but I can't believe nothing tipped me off on the game being today and not next Friday. I'd hate to add up how much I've spent this year on baseball tickets I didn't wind up using.
the max 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2006 Probably just the forgettable season they're having. I did the same thing last year with Marlins tickets that I got from work.
naiwf 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2006 Do you really need to steal a homer from Chris Woodward and try to break Cliff Floyd's hand? Just lay down and play for tomorrow.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2006 The way my schedule's been I'm lucky to get five minutes and drop in. Heading up the the Red Barons/Mud Hens game tonight, where Dmitri Young is currently on a rehab assignment.

Guest Report post Posted July 15, 2006 Toby Hall wants to be traded, because he has no future in LA. I think he has no future in the Majors, but that's just my opinion. Anyway... The Los Angeles Dodgers are taking inflammatory remarks by pitcher Odalis Perez in stride, saying they have no plans to trade the disgruntled left-hander. Perez, a former 15-game winner who's spent much of this season in the bullpen due to ineffectiveness, accused the Dodgers of treating him like "trash" moments after giving up a game-winning, 14th-inning home run to the Cardinals' Albert Pujols on Thursday night. That's because you are trash, Odalis.
therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2006 *Cheap shot at the Phillies coming* Bon Jovi is having a concert at Citizens Bank Park this weekend, so it will be the only time this year that one can go to that stadium and be satisfied with the on-field product. Mik 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2006 Rocket lost again as he ran into Anibal Sanchez's two-hitter. He was lifted after 7 innings and about 85 pitches - he could have finished it, I think. Oh well - great game and another quality piece brought over in the Josh Beckett trade.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2006 Yeah, how's Beckett doing, by the way?
Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2006 The Twins are playing the AL again. To be more specific they are playing the AL Central again.
Guest StylesMark Report post Posted July 15, 2006 Yankees beat the White Sox. Mussina is pitching tomorrow, which should give them a chance. Johnson pitched well again, which always amazes me these days.

vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2006 Damn that Aubrey Huff! He had an 0fer and struck out swinging to end the game. We need to dump him and get somebody that can hit. Oh well, maybe the Tejada for Everett/Lidge talks can be revisited...
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2006 John Lackey throws his second straight complete-game shutout. He's allowed a total of six hits over those two games.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2006 Jacque Jones apparently got into it with a pair of fans in the ninth inning. He reportedly urged them on from the top step of the dugout. From the same article, Todd Walker wasn't happy about Bob Brenly's criticism over his part in that costly botched double-play. Hmm, where have I heard this sort of thing before? The more things change...

vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2006 Damn that Aubrey Huff! He had an 0fer and struck out swinging to end the game. are you kidding? Totally kidding. I like Huff and I think he's a great addition to the team. I was just making a mockery of the oodles of bandwagon fans over at the astros.com messageboard who were talking about Huff like he was the Second Coming last nite after he hit a 3-run shot and calling for his head tonite after he didn't get a hit. Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2006 You just knew Hoffman was going to blow it. He got worked over by every hitter he faced.
strummer 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2006 Skip and Chip Carey are practically in tears of joy over this. It' still surreal to me to hear Braves announcers begging for a win

strummer 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2006 Mark Bellhorn just hit a bomb to right center that would have been out of any park except Petco and would have tied the game. The Braves seem to be getting all the breaks the last couple of weeks

Meh, he's better than the alternatives at this point. He's a second half player. The Astros are a second half team. He's on a contending team for the first time and in a contract year. All reasons why I think he'll help out big big. I haven't been watching the Braves-Friars game. I just turned it on to see the Braves blow it, but I did hear that the Braves blew a 5-1 lead. Is that...correct?
