DMann2003 0 Report post Posted October 28, 2006 Watching the Hogan Anthology and seeing Edge's comments make me think a potential match for WM 23 could be Edge vs Hogan- With Edge playing the old "I worshiped you Hulk but you're a shell of your former self and I have to put you out of your misery". Not the most original idea I know, but because I feel Edge has been the most interesting guy on WWE TV he's the most natural to put in the ring against Hulk I figure. Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted October 28, 2006 The problem with the WCCW dvd is that there already is a INCREDIBLE Documentry on it that WWE won't come close to matching because they'll sugarcoat and glam it up and include random commentary from people not even involved. Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted October 28, 2006 Meltzer WO preview for next week says about WWE negotiating with a worldwide superstar and a headliner talking about retirement. Any ideas who the names are? The headliner leaving is Big Show. Right now, he is aiming to leave in February when his contract runs out. He feels too banged up to keep going and wants out. He even turned down a five-year contract extension for a $1m a year. The worldwide name is Bob Sapp.
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted October 28, 2006 TBS would have a decent chance of getting work in the entertainment world, so I wouldn't blame him for leaving. He really can't go anywhere beyond what he is doing right now.

randomguy 0 Report post Posted October 28, 2006 Hawk what is the WCW DVD you speak of? (The good one?) TBS is a very charismatic guy, he has always been good on SNL or late night talk shows or whatever. However with his size he can't go much more than comedy guest spots and cameos. The DVD is called "Heroes Of World Class" and can be found at most wrestling DVD distribution sites. I believe the dvd was spread into pieces over Youtube not so long ago. Wouldn't that not expire until 2009? Apparently the story is when he was sent down to OVW back in 2001, they felt the need to renogotiate. The original contract was like $950,000 for 10 years, so they changed it down to 8 years at a million per year. So, it expires in February and he's shot down extensions because he is in so much pain, he is worried about winding up like Andre in his later days (with the crutches and barely able to move). Cheech Tremendous 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2006 I thought the plan was to do Big Show v. Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania next year. Is that plan out the window now, or would he maybe work one last match after his contract is out?
Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2006 Well according to WWE.com it might be Rey Rey. Sources tell WWE.com that Rey Mysterio will be at Friday Night SmackDown in Milwaukee next week to say goodbye. Friends of Mysterio say the former World Champion may actually announce his retirement. Those close to Rey say he is emotionally stressed following the months of struggle with former friends Vickie and Chavo Guerrero. Yeah, I wouldn't put much stock in that, what with the kayfabed reasoning.

Is that plan out the window now, or would he maybe work one last match after his contract is out? It was never in stone but TBS is one of the very few people Hogan is pushing to work since Austin most likely isn't going to play games. Quite frankly, it'd be a big mistake to do TBS/Hogan at WM23. It'd be an obvious attempt to duplicate WM3. They would be better served if they must use Hogan, to duplicate WM18 with Cena playing Rock.
Thanks for the Fish 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2006 There was talk of making Big Show more of a novelty act that would keep him out of the ring for the most part due to his failing condition, however instead of this the wwe put him in ECW. Now to be fair, Kurt Angle was supposed to carry the franchise and Big Show was there just to add name value, however with Angle being injured and then leaving the company, the weight of the company has fallen square on the big shows shoulders. He's worked almost every Sci-Fi main event and has main evented almost every house show, which usually results in the longest match and a lot more bumps than he should be taking. I don't blame him for looking to take time off - he would never get it any other way. That's the way the wwe works, grind you into the ground, chew you up and spit you out. A lot of top talent is leaving the business lately and I'm sure Big Show keeps in contact with them. Austin got out to save his health, Rock moved on to bigger and brighter things, Jericho hung up the boots while still healthy, Christian wanted a lighter wrestling schedule. Angle worked his was to a better spot as well - all of these guys have the money and were seemingly smart with it. Booker T was ready to get out before Sharmell and a push convinced him to stay, Benoit recently took almost a year off to heal and rest. Trish Stratus is gone and Lita is close to following her. JBL hung up the wrestling boots for a cushy commentator job and Kane was looking to put over Fake Kane before calling it a career. Basically you look at the two brands and you have Undertaker who rarely wrestles and doesn't work house shows, and HHH(who is a McMahon) and HBK who likely gets a ton of perks himself, and retired himself for a pretty long stint. VKM and the schedule is just too demanding and the travel and ring bumps just takes a toll mentally and physically. Big Show could easily match his wwe salary in the entertainment world with a much, much easier workload.

BigPoppaKev 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2006 Any idea what the WWE would plan on doing with Bob Sapp if they brought him in and he must be commanding huge dollars considering the amount of money he can make in Japan. Maybe he is considering WWE as a way of getting more mainstream attention in America and to continue his acting career (possible in a WWE film.)
Darthtiki 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2006 I thought JBL hung it up and took an investment banker job and does SD! as a side gig like dj-ing at weddings. Anyone see the Toys "R" Us big toy book ad for WWE figures, they have a Kurt figure displayed. Also, I read in the paper that Brooke Hogan is playing the local pop station's halloween extravaganza on tuesday.

Boxer 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2006 So apparently, RVD will challenge Big Show at December to Dismember in a Extreme Elimination Chamber Match. Also, from wwe.com, Smackdown and ECW will combine on the house show circut. ECW will no longer have house shows by themselves starting Dec 26.
Aero 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2006 So, that makes it RVD, Show, and I assume: Sabu, Dreamer, Test, & Sandman? This show is going to have a long Chamber match and an undercard stacked with Raw and Smackdown guys, along with with the obvious Knox/Punk match.
Thanks for the Fish 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2006 Actually from what I've read Big Show is dropping the title becuase he's in pretty messed up shape physically and VKM is vehemently against RVD getting the title again due to his screw up last time he had it. I think we could see a surprise winner. Obviously Test and Sabu will be involved, as will Hardcore Holly. That will leave one spot open for the likes of Dreamer, Sandman, Thorne, Knox, Punk, Striker, Dupree. I'd say Dreamer would be the shoo in, however I assume that there will be a three vs three heel vs face dynamic initially. If RVD doesn't win the title, and cannot in the future to McMahon's edict, what point does he serve with the company. RVD HAS to get the title at this point, though I could see Test pulling out the shocker victory. Putting the top title on Holly or even Sabu would be a collossal mistake. CM Punk would be an interesting possibility, however I think Heyman will do the slow burn with him, and he'll need to flesh out the undercard, likely fighting Mike Knox. With D2D being a couple weeks after Survivor Series, as has been mentioned, we should fully expect there to be Raw and SD! representation on the PPV.
