NFL Week 3

Recommended Posts

Boston media is ripping on the Pats management for not spending money. The Pats are way under cap, they've lost a bunch of starters without getting any back. Brady took less money so that the Pats could keep some other guys, and they aren't keeping anybody.

If Dillon can't stay healthy they are fucked with an ok running game and no passing game. You can't throw to the tight end on every play.

Considering they got a #1 pick back from Seattle for Branch, I think they can do well this offseason as far as putting together a good offensive unit.

As for the rest of this year, though, they may have some problems.

Of the WRs looking to move, all have moved at least once. Stallworth's in Philly, Leile's in Atlanta, Walker's in Denver...

Unless they start looking for guys who were cut from other teams or look to trade with teams who are completely out of the race this year (see Tampa Bay, Detroit, Houston, etc.), they're pretty screwed.

New recievers won't do anything because THEY will have to learn the system and won't be able to just go in and play.

I hope this is just a case of a simple analogy - Denver : New England :: New England : Indy. I'm getting sick of Brady's suckage and tonight was probably the worst. Deion's gone, get over it and work with the guys they gave you.

Heres a quote from Don Banks' newest article at cnnsi.com...

"Detroit was so inept on defense it made Brett Favre look young again, as the Packers legend ran around and made plays with abandon en route to a 340-yard, three-touchdown, no-interception day.

Don't get used to it, Brett. It was the Lions."

This is the kind of writing that makes people money? Didn't this guy see that Favre had the EXACT same stats last week (with just one pick) against the 2-0, and America's sweethearts, NO Saints? I also could have sworn that guys like Green and Jennings made some great plays after catches as well. At least its not as bad as Dr Z's brilliant reporting on how Favre might not deserve to be a first ballot hall of famer.

Yeah, they are blaming it on the loss of Branch but him missing receivers and not being able to hit anybody is his own damn fault. I could understand if guys weren't getting open or dropping passes left and right but most of it just seems to be Brady can't hit anything and is looking like hell.

NE will need receivers and linebackers no doubt, but Brady needs to quit his whining and work with what he's got. And the guys he has aren't exactly bad. He's just not hitting the targets.

Yay, Seahawks! I don't think I've ever seen this much gloating in the local papers. They just might have a chance to finish above .500 this year, Super Bowl curse be damned.

Next week should be really good.

And yay! Bengals. Steelers can take a big ol' suck on the devil's pecker.

Brady hasn't been whining. In the post-game press conference he said he was happy with the guys they have, they are working hard and doing a good job and the Branch thing is past tense.

It's the Boston media that are whining. But the Boston media is notorious for that, as soon as something goes slightly wrong they just start mowing down targets.

Some people at the game said Brady didn't have good accuracy.

He hasn't had good accuracy at all this season to be honest. I'm not worried about the loss of Branch so much as the loss of accuracy Brady has. I think Chad Jackson will be well aware of the system next season to give the Pats a taller, faster option at wide out.

Also the 2007 WR class will be DEEP so the Patriots can always nab a guy in the 3rd or 4th round with similar makeup to a Jerricho Cotchery (taken 4.12) or Samie Parker (4.09).

Some WRs who could fall to the 3rd/4th round

- Dallas Baker (Florida)

- Rhema McKnight (Notre Dame)

- Craig Davis (LSU)

- Joel Filani (Texas Tech)

- David Ball (New Hampshire)

1. Denver owns NE for the last few years. Brady never plays well against them.

2. Defense played well but failed to force any turnovers or take advantage of Denver being backed against their goaline.

3. Brady has looks real bad since the Denver game last year in the Playoffs.

4. The receivers we have are fine. Pats won the SB with much worse(Brown, Patten, Fred Coleman!)

5. Panic mode in Boston is imminent no matter what. They could be 13-0 and they would still find some shit to criticize and bitch about.

They are fine, it's week 3.

IIRC, Dwayne Bowe (LSU) is also a senior and could fall to lower rounds because he does some weird crap at times.

(He drops a decent amount of passes, but when your QB is JaMarcus Russell, who's like 6'7" and has a howitzer for an arm, shit happens.)

Guest Felonies!

Oh, vomit. Green Day and U2 are playing together. Why would they play "Wake Me Up When September Ends" when U2 has written no fewer than thirty superior songs?

Are any of them more current and trendy then this one? What's with making a week 3 game like the superbowl with the hype, big musical acts and such.

I get that it's an important moment for New Orleans and all but I'm not getting the need for Green Day. Okay, I get it from a popularity standpoint and I know it's september and it fits with whole theme of "overcoming" something but Green Day could have done other stuff (like sitting backstage for instance)

I wish that Green Day would sing Louisiana's "official" version of House Of The Rising Sun for the Saints...

In that version, it's Jim Mora, Bum Phillips, and others warning then-new coach Mike Ditka what happens to the careers of Saints coaches.

(I call it "official" because it was performed at the LA Grid-Iron Show, which roasts state officials and politicians annually)

Guest Felonies!

But how is anything from American Idiot appropriate to the situation? There's a brass band backing them, so this is tailor-made for some Rattle and Hum songs.
