Part of the problem was the cutoff guy, who might have batted down a perfectly good throw home. Sure, it got Pujols into a rundown, but it seemed like the rest of the infield was a little surprised that they were attempting a play at second base there.

American League teams would have feasted on that pitching staff. There is no way that team was better than say, the Red Sox, and we saw how mediocre they were this year.

It's not like the Mets wouldn't play those teams if they were in the Amercian League anyway. And Wainwright gets him looking for the final out in the ninth and a win for the Cards.

Plus, I think the National League is at a significant disadvantage with the DH.

They wanted their "best defensive lineup" on the field. Don't know if I agree with the call, but it didn't hurt them today, so no problem I guess.
