Batista Bomb to Finlay, Lashley spears Batista (taking them both out), and Book crawls over and covers Finlay for the win.

this does not sound as good as Judgment Day was.. anyone wanna throw out ratings for the matches tonight?

And - did Booker look weak throughout the match, or did he hold his own?

Main event was pretty solid. Batista and Lashley had a portion in the middle where they had a big staredown and fight.

The show as a whole was actually pretty decent, outside of MVP's squash. Taker-Kennedy and Rey-Chavo were both good matches but suffered from lame endings.

Hardy-Helms, the Tag Title match, Benoit-Regal, and the main event were all really good.

From WWE.com

Montel Vontavious Porter finally made his in-ring debut at No Mercy. His opponent - the less than impressive Marty Garner. MVP picked up the win, but left everybody wondering if he's worth the hype.

So, are they going the over-hyped route with him then?

Looks like it. After Benoit's return JBL said he should go backstage and call MVP out.

It makes sense if they're going the overhyped route, because that was a free-TV worthy debut.

JBL did a great job putting the matches over tonight, especially Hardy/Helms and Benoit/Regal.

MVP: Most Valuable Phony?

By Zack Zeigler

October 8, 2006

Montel Vontavious Porter was victorious in his first match as a SmackDown Superstar at No Mercy. But, the self proclaimed “greatest athlete on the planet” may not have lived up to the hype he created for himself by taking on Marty Garner as his first opponent. Who is Marty Garner? Exactly.

In arguably the most highly anticipated debut on SmackDown of any newcomer, MVP’s decision to compete against a virtual unknown who has defeated no reputable WWE Superstar on the active roster was a major letdown to WWE fans. SmackDown color commentator JBL stated it perfectly when he said MVP “overpromised and underdelivered.”

After holding out for months and putting General Manager Theodore Long through strenuous contract negotiations, MVP inked a deal to join SmackDown on Sept. 27. Throughout negotiations and even after the deal was signed, MVP used every opportunity to boast about his mat skills and how he’d transform the world of sports-entertainment.

As the crowd expressed their displeasure with disapproving chants, SmackDown announcer Michael Cole asked, “all this contractual stuff, the back and forth, the loudmouth talking and this is what we get?”

On the final edition of SmackDown leading into the pay-per-view, MVP bragged that “history will be made at No Mercy; every time I step into the ring history will be made.”

Unfortunately for MVP, history will remember his first match as an enormous disappointment. While he may have beaten Marty Garner and left 1-0, MVP proved he can obviously talk the talk, but, perhaps, not walk the walk.

What did everyone think were the best and worst matches?

Best for me was London and Kendrick vs James and Stevens followed closely by Benoit and Regals 12 minute wrestling clinic. The worst was obviously MVP's squash.

Wow, this MVP character makes Smackdown look so second-rate.

In Vince's eye, thats excatly how Smackdown is suppose to be.

sounds like a good show. havent seen a full ppv bought and paid for since No Way Out '06. I refuse to get a Raw ppv on principle.

They couldve gotten rid of the backstage stuff and given more time to Benoit or added something with Yang or even used the women 'workers' that stick around even though theyre not in the womens title hunt.

I think they should keep Booker and his group intact till the Rumble to build up the title since they dont see it as strong as the Raw title with their TLC HIAC Elimination Chamber matches to inflate buyrates. Fatal 4 way is like a tagteam gimmick back when they had more than 2 teams but it was a good way to keep things fresh with the same ME roster for the past 9 months. Same cant be said for Raw.

Heard they made the CW match nontitle WTF? And isnt Hardy too big for that, he's taller than Lashley.

I guess they put off the Rey injury angle again?

If MVP's gimmick is he sucks and that's the point, why bring up someone who really does suck? Usually guys who suck are built like monsters or 7 feet tall but he's neither so they give him a gimmick where he sucks? Like basically a jobber who keeps winning? That and Tatanka employed are the big mysteries of this show.

Benoit/Regal, Hardy/Helms, and London & Kendrick/Stevens & James were the three best matches. Regal was awesome tonight. The 4 Way, Undertaker/Kennedy, and Mysterio/Guerrero were all fine matches, expect for bad finishes.

I liked MVP's debut, not the match, just the whole entrance and gimmick. And Big Dick Johnson was fun, Miz sucks.

Did Michelle McCool have a nipple slip during the tag match? I know at one point she seemed to be desperately scrambling to pull up her shirt, but it was too fast to see anything. Did anyone else catch William Regals cock slip? Ugh.

There didn't seem to be much backstage stuff as usual, which is a plus.

Rey's surgery isn't until 2 weeks. They still got 3 more shows to do it.

Hardy is a former CW champion and is within the weight limit of 225 (it isn't a height deal).

Cruiserweight limit is 220, not that it means that much.

Her top slipped down but her bra stayed up from what I saw. I'll look for it during the replay later.

WWE APOLOGIZES

World Wrestling Entertainment would like to apologize to anyone who watched WWE No Mercy and was offended by the William Regal locker room incident. Conduct of this kind is unacceptable in a family-friendly environment, and WWE accepts full responsibility. Nudity of any kind, even in a live television environment, is offensive to our audience and to the reputation of our company.

Hahahahahaha...

We can see the asses of Vince, Coach, Big Show, and 5 midgets over the course of 2 months on Raw, but a one-second slip-up on "that other show" and the PR monkeys are out giving the typical WWE phony apologies.

I'd hate to see Regal's package as much as the next guy, but isn't this double standard a little much, even in WWE?

Since when?

Besides, as has been stated, all the naked man-ass that's on WWE TV is far more offensive. I also like the fact that they make out that they have a "reputation" to keep up.
