Lei Tong Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 Hughes is awesome simply because of how humongous a dick he is. Between blowing up at Whitehead, thinly veiled racism, and overall shit-stirring, he's been the MVP of two TUF seasons so far.
razazteca Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 overall shit-stirring TUF4 highlight: Hughes vs Serra vs the lazy trainer, Laimon!
Lord of The Curry Posted October 26, 2006 Author Report Posted October 26, 2006 Hughes is awesome simply because of how humongous a dick he is. Between blowing up at Whitehead, thinly veiled racism, and overall shit-stirring, he's been the MVP of two TUF seasons so far. I will not at all refute that statement. I'm not his biggest fan but for my money Hughes is far and away the King of The Promo in MMA. Him and Krazy Horse. When Hughes uses masturbation as a workout analogy then he'll truly be a god.
Lei Tong Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 overall shit-stirring Hughes vs Serra Serra vs. Hughes' back from 5 miles away
Lord of The Curry Posted October 26, 2006 Author Report Posted October 26, 2006 Hughes' shit-eating grin last week during the Laimon/Serra beef was absolutely tremendous.
naiwf Posted October 27, 2006 Report Posted October 27, 2006 You think he's unlikeable now, try watching early Hughes fights. Yeesh. I've hated Matt Hughes for years because of his early fights. Back in the day, my two favorite UFC fighters were Tito Ortiz and Whoever Matt Hughes Was Fighting. My favorite UFC moment to date is when BJ Penn made him look like a bitch. The only person I've found less likable than Matt since UFC 1 was Royce Gracie. That fucker actually made me root for Hughes when they fought. Hopefully GSP gets it done this time because if he loses I don't think the universe can withstand the smugness that will be dripping off of Hughes' body in the postmatch interview.
Youth N Asia Posted October 27, 2006 Report Posted October 27, 2006 I think Tito gained a lot of points with TUF 3. He coached his ass off and came off very likeable. Especially with Matt. And even though Hughes is a dick, I still like him. Watching him try and get Laimon and Serra together was great. I wouldn't mind seeing him get taken down a notch though
Guest nWoCHRISnWo Posted October 30, 2006 Report Posted October 30, 2006 Just dropping in to say Hughes is by far my favourite fighter. I'd give my left nut to be as smug as he is.
Lord of The Curry Posted October 30, 2006 Author Report Posted October 30, 2006 Drop in to post in more threads. That wasn't me being an asshole. That was an odd form of welcome.

Apropos of nothing at all, I saw my first Krazy Horse match on that Pride show FSN shows. Knocked out some Japanese fighter with a brutal right cross. His after match antics are hilarious. Backflip, run up the ramp, run back down to the ring, more acrobatics. They need more "freestyle" fighters in MMA. Some random guy just swinging for the fences (think Tank Abbot but with more talent) breaks up the monotony of the martial artists.
Lord of The Curry Posted October 31, 2006 Author Report Posted October 31, 2006 Unfortunately for Krazy Horse the fighters he faces now in PRIDE have realized that his kryptonite is submissions or more specifically a lack of submission defense.
Hunter's Torn Quad Posted November 15, 2006 Report Posted November 15, 2006 The fight order: Prelim matches Josh Shockman vs. Jake O'Brien Hector Ramirez vs. James Irvin Antoni Hardonk vs. Sherman Pendergarst Gleison Tibau vs. Nick Diaz Live fights in order Dokonjonosuke Mishima vs. Joe Stevenson Brandon Vera vs. Frank Mir Tim Sylvia vs. Jeff Monson for the heavyweight title Drew McFedrie vs. Alessio Sakara Matt Hughes vs. Georges St. Pierre for the welterweight title
Lord of The Curry Posted November 15, 2006 Author Report Posted November 15, 2006 Diaz on a prelim? BULLSHIT. He'll find his way onto the show, no fucking way Sylvia/Monson makes it past the second round.
starvenger Posted November 16, 2006 Report Posted November 16, 2006 Just saw on a commercial fight network is showing a different GSP fight every night this week. Their reasoning is it's the greatest opportunity a Canadian has had in MMA. They're all UCC/TKO events. So far they've shown: M - UCC 10 vs Justin Bruckmann for the UCC Canadian Welterweight title T - UCC 11 vs Travis Galbraith for the UCC Canadian Welterweight title W - UCC 12 vs Thomas Denny Coming up: R - TKO 14 vs Pete Spratt F - TKO 19 vs Dave Strasser (I'm guessing - I don't think Fight Network has rights to air old UFC PPVs) As for the UFC 65 fight card... they brought James Irvin back? Why - so Rogan can wax poetic about the flying knee?

Their reasoning is it's the greatest opportunity a Canadian has had in MMA. Denis Kang being the first Canadian to ever win a PRIDE Grand Prix would be a pretty big win, had it happened. But yeah, this is pretty big for Canada. I'm looking forward to this being on par with Utah 2002 in the gold medal hockey finals, both mens and womens. But the celebration will be way rowdier and drunker.
Lord of The Curry Posted November 16, 2006 Author Report Posted November 16, 2006 No. I dislike everything about Quebec with the exception of GSP, Montreal bars and their women.
starvenger Posted November 16, 2006 Report Posted November 16, 2006 No. I dislike everything about Quebec with the exception of GSP, Montreal bars and their women. Montreal is definitely a cool place to visit. Nothing like seeing Habs-Leafs there, and being surrounded by your fellow Leafs fans.
Lei Tong Posted November 16, 2006 Report Posted November 16, 2006 They're putting alot of faith in Pat's boy letting Sakara beat his fucking face in.
Lord of The Curry Posted November 16, 2006 Author Report Posted November 16, 2006 "Putting faith" in a fighter usually would infer that UFC is hoping he'll pull out a win, no? Because I doubt they want this guy to win.

Montreal is definitely a cool place to visit. Nothing like seeing Habs-Leafs there, and being surrounded by your fellow Leafs fans. We were drinking at Peel Pub during a Leafs/Habs game and a table of Americans from Boston thought it would be smart to try and start a "USA!" chant for no real reason. This was just after the stomping of Team USA in Utah. The "Five to Two!" chant that shut them up was deafening.
Your Paragon of Virtue Posted November 16, 2006 Report Posted November 16, 2006 I love going to Peel and hearing "Go Leafs Go". Response? "SIX-TY SEV-EN! *Bang* *Bang* *Bang* SIX-TY SEV-EN!" Fortieth anniversary baby!

Because I doubt they want this guy to win. I say "putting faith" because if McFedries has even a moderate amount of wrestling ability, he could very easily ruin any shred of credibility Sakara may have left (ironically, from a win over Elvis freakin' Sinosic). Therefore, with the fight arguably in his hands moreso than Sakara's, the UFC must be putting faith in McFedries being a dumbass and exchanging with Sakara.
starvenger Posted November 17, 2006 Report Posted November 17, 2006 Did anyone see the weigh-in for Mir-Vera? I was curious as to whether Mir had his baby yet...
Lord of The Curry Posted November 18, 2006 Author Report Posted November 18, 2006 8 lbs, 4 oz. 'Twas a biggun. Frank was looking aight.
starvenger Posted November 18, 2006 Report Posted November 18, 2006 So that's what a surgical scar from a C-Section on a guy would look like. All kidding aside, I'm glad that he got off his ass and back into shape. A motivated Mir in the depleted HW division is a good thing.
v.2 Posted November 18, 2006 Report Posted November 18, 2006 He's still going to lose. But at least he'll look good before he gets his mug caved in by a knee.
Guest nWoCHRISnWo Posted November 18, 2006 Report Posted November 18, 2006 So does it make me a bad Canadian that I'm cheering for Hughes to win tonight? Thought so. But shitfuck am I ever hyped for this, first time in while I've been real excited for a UFC PPV.
