gWIL Posted October 14, 2006 Report Posted October 14, 2006 What a great weekend, I get to wake up bright and early and retake the SAT. My old scores: Critical Reading (Same as Verbal) 740 Math 530 Writing 550 So out of 1600: 1270 Out of 2400: 1820 My ACT score: 26 So yeah, I know must everyone here is older than me, so any test horror stories, scores or what not?
Prophet of Mike Zagurski Posted October 14, 2006 Report Posted October 14, 2006 Did you take prep classes? What's your goal? I got a 1070 my first time and a 1150 my second time. I don't really have any horror stories but I am glad I don't have to take them again.
vivalaultra Posted October 14, 2006 Report Posted October 14, 2006 I never took the SAT...or the ACT. Oh well, I'm sure you'll be fine. The force is strong in you gWil.
bob_barron Posted October 14, 2006 Report Posted October 14, 2006 Only took them once, had to take an awful Princeton Review course
Vampiro69 Posted October 14, 2006 Report Posted October 14, 2006 I only had to take the ACT in high school. I wish I would have actually studied, because I know I could have done a hell of a lot better.
chuck415 Posted October 14, 2006 Report Posted October 14, 2006 I got drunk as hell the night before my ACT and still pulled a 24.
daileyxplanet Posted October 14, 2006 Report Posted October 14, 2006 Never took them 'cause I go to Community College.
Edwin MacPhisto Posted October 14, 2006 Report Posted October 14, 2006 They were pretty easy, I think. Standardized tests always are. Strangely, I remember what I got on my SATs, but can't remember what I got on my GREs.
randomguy Posted October 14, 2006 Report Posted October 14, 2006 I got a 1520 on my SATs, and that was before they made the scoring easier. Missed 1 on math and 1 on verbal. I've always been great at standardized tests.
Edwin MacPhisto Posted October 14, 2006 Report Posted October 14, 2006 You missed more than that if you got a 1520. You can, or at least could, miss one or two and still get a 1600 depending on where they were. Always though that was kinda funny.
MFer Posted October 15, 2006 Report Posted October 15, 2006 SAT-1230 ACT-27 Good enough to not take again.
gWIL Posted October 15, 2006 Author Report Posted October 15, 2006 I tried the whole new-age ting of getting a full night of sleep in and having breakfast thing, it seemed to have worked. I think I did better on Math and Writing, but I think my Verbal score went down (which I expected). I'm hoping to pull above 600 for Writing and Math. Oh and to answer the question if I took any prep classes, I didn't. I can't remember ever studying for a test.
Brett Favre Posted October 15, 2006 Report Posted October 15, 2006 All you have to do is read books, and take it twice, and your second score should be pretty good.
lomasmoney Posted October 15, 2006 Report Posted October 15, 2006 Didn't take the SAT, just the ACT, got a 26 when i was in 10th grade and then a 31 my junior year....that was good enough for me
Annabelle Posted October 15, 2006 Report Posted October 15, 2006 i always thought sats were figments of cinema's imagination. we don't take those here. just have to have good grades to get into university.
vivalaultra Posted October 15, 2006 Report Posted October 15, 2006 I like how all those teenage sex comedy movies make it look like it's REALLY, REALLY hard to get into college and do well. I remember when I was like 14 I thought that getting into college was some major accomplishment and I'd have to sit around for weeks waiting for acceptance letters and stuff...That never happened...not at Community College or at the real university I'm going to now. All I had to do was send in my transcripts and pay tuition. After getting in, I was left feeling empty. And I've never had a professor get up in front of the room on the first day and say something like, "Look to the left of you; now look too the right of you. At least one of those people will not pass this class." As I got older, I was disappointed to learn that most movies tell you nothing about actual life.
randomguy Posted October 15, 2006 Report Posted October 15, 2006 You missed more than that if you got a 1520. You can, or at least could, miss one or two and still get a 1600 depending on where they were. Always though that was kinda funny. Let's try this again: I got a 1520 on my SATs, and that was before they made the scoring easier.
