Hogan Made Wrestling Posted October 22, 2006 Report Posted October 22, 2006 I am very happy to see The Departed have such strong legs.

Mik Posted October 22, 2006 Report Posted October 22, 2006 $12M for the Marine is about $10M more then I would have expected or guessed.
Guest Smues Posted October 22, 2006 Report Posted October 22, 2006 I'm sad Cena's movie didn't beat Cook's movie. That would have been hilarious. To me anyway.
Kahran Ramsus Posted October 22, 2006 Report Posted October 22, 2006 I was hoping for more from The Prestige. Fantastic movie.

razazteca Posted October 23, 2006 Report Posted October 23, 2006 All he is doing is taking the roles that Ryan Reynolds refused.

Even Dane Cook had to know this movie wasn't going to be a hit. I doubt it. He probably thought the legion of Myspace girls who are his fans would give him a bigger domestic gross. $24 million has to be a big disappintment, since so many people claim he's the next big thing in comedy.
Red Baron Posted October 23, 2006 Report Posted October 23, 2006 The Departed was an amazing movie, and very easy to follow for me anyways. I'm glad Flags of our Fathers didn't do good.

It is coming off a little lame by now. People are still going to put him in movies, his arena shows are still going to sell out. I think Dane's going to suvive this.
C Dubya 04 Posted October 23, 2006 Report Posted October 23, 2006 The movie did make double its budget, so I wouldn't call it a total flop.
bob_barron Posted October 23, 2006 Report Posted October 23, 2006 The Departed was an amazing movie, and very easy to follow for me anyways. I'm glad Flags of our Fathers didn't do well. Why? It was a great movie
Hank Kingsley Posted October 23, 2006 Report Posted October 23, 2006 Interesting, the top 3 will probably be 3 of the Best Picture contenders come Spring.

One can always hope that Dane Cook's movie career is killed before he churns out too many awful comedies.
bob_barron Posted October 23, 2006 Report Posted October 23, 2006 Interesting, the top 3 will probably be 3 of the Best Picture contenders come Spring. Prestige won't be a best picture contender. Only has a 66 metacritic rating.
2GOLD Posted October 23, 2006 Report Posted October 23, 2006 What did Crash have? A message and poor competition. The Prestige is a great movie, but it's not getting one of the best nods spot. Michael Caine might grab a nod for Supporting Actor but thats all I see it getting. Maybe Best Director for Nolan but even thats a reach.
Kahran Ramsus Posted October 24, 2006 Report Posted October 24, 2006 The Prestige may be one of the most purely entertaining films of the year, but I'd be shocked if the Academy even looked at it. At the most I can't see it getting anything more than a Best Adapted Screenplay nom.
bob_barron Posted October 24, 2006 Report Posted October 24, 2006 What did Crash have? Hmmm, Crash only had a 69, but had 5 100s, Prestige had 1
Hank Kingsley Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 Interesting. What other potentials have been getting buzz?
