This week in the NBA

Recommended Posts

He's a fucking scumbag of the highest order.

You will never see him getting busted for starting riots, carrying weapons on planes, getting pulled over for drugs, or setting the record for most technical fouls in a season, or tearing it up in the club in a white t. I find it funny that the dirtiest player in the league plays on the softest team in the league.

An elbow might cut you, but you can get some stitches and come back in that same quarter if need be.

Didn't Rudy Tomanovich take a vicious elbow from Kermit Washington that still lingers today?

No no, that was a blatant (running?) sucker punch to the face when Rudy T wasn't looking. Nice try though.

Who cares if Bowen isn't a scumbag outside of the arena, he's got more of a body count than most defensive linemen in the NFL. Deliberately and routinely trying to blow out people's knees is worse than anything most anyone else in the NBA does.

Quit trying to confuse the issue. No one else mentioned doing anything anywhere else except on the court. Bowen is dirtier than a pig in a foot of mud, and despite people like Bill Walton and Jim Rome trying to play it off as him playing mind games and shit, there is no doubt that he intentionally goes out to get in a situation where he can hurt an opposing player and get away with it.

David Stern should be watching him like a hawk, because it has happened too many times to be a coincidence.

I googled Bruce Bowen suspension and only found links like these:

http://theassociation.blogs.com/the_associ..._fined_100.html Bowen vs Allen

http://www.mysanantonio.com/sports/basketb...n.21e790d1.html Jason Terry is one dirty player

David Stern should be watching him like a hawk, because it has happened too many times to be a coincidence.

If the commish isn't going to punish Bowen then he hasn't done anything wrong.

People do this all the time in high school and get away with it. That was my point. It's blatant, but no one will ever call him on it because it's still a judgment call and can be misconstrued as accidental. The league informed the officials to start calling it as a foul, but it can never be called consistently with how fast the game moves. I guess it's just pure coincidence that in SI's 2005 poll of the dirtiest players in the league, players voted Bowen second to Danny Fortson.

So, it's now VC, Allen, Szczerbiak and Francis. Anymore I'm missing?

Ooo... you just told me what's what.

Spoken like a true Spurs fan, homeboy. I can see this is going in the direction of the arguments that I had with X about Kobe Bryant. As long as he is on *your* team, he can do no wrong. Forgive me for trying to argue a point which is unarguable in your mind. I'll try never to do it again.

Michael Finley, Jalen Rose and Morris Peterson with the step under move...at least. And before he kicked Wally in the face he kicked Steve Smith in the chest, brent barry in the face, and shawn marion in the shoulder when he bought a pump fake. ACCIDENTALLY kicked them in the upper parts of their body.

Plus he has undercut people on fast breaks numerous times, countless elbows, and trips on breaks.

All these things are what can really injure people. The same way Karl Malone legit knocked out at least 8 guys in his career, let alone causeing stitches to be needed. He would aim, on purpose at a guys head and try to elbow the shit out of them, and every time say it was a accident.

Same thing with BOwen. If you are playing pickup ball and a guy does that, he will probably get punched in the face and his teammates will understand. There are plenty of great defenders in the NBA and none of them have a hit list like him and noone else is complaining about anyone else besides saying "He is a physical tough defender". He ended one of vinces seasons cost other guys weeks and months, and he is going to end someones career with play like this.

We all know that this will change by the end of the year, but who would have guessed that on any day of the season the following would be true. . .

1st in their division -> Atlanta, NO/OK, Utah

Last in their division -> Dallas, Denver, Phoenix

Bruce Bowen isn't going to score 70 points in a game nor will he set the record for most 3-pointers in a game so he will never ever be the glamour boy with bandwagon fans defending everything he does...there simply isn't money in it. Bruce Bowen is one of the few ballers that specializes in the tangibles of the game that does not show up in the stat sheets so he doesn't get the praise that offense minded players get. Bruce Bowen is primary a defender that plays mind games with the opposing team's heads now it isn't Bruce's fault that they get overly aggressive and accidently hurt themselves. Come on now its not like Bruce Bowen is taking charges and extending his leg out to intentionally hurt people with malice. He isn't doing hand checks and pushing his forearm into people's back then pulling the chair out from them getting turnovers and foul calls. He isn't challenging dunkers and taking them out with spears or lariats getting flagaent foul calls nor will you see him diving for loose balls punching people in the crotch while struggling for the ball. Bruce Bowen is far from being the dirtiest player in the association.

IT'S NOT HIS FAULT!

Ben Wallace has no offensive skills and he's a star in the league. Bowen is a thug. One is clean cut, the other guy looks like the kind of dude "Surburban White America" hates. Why is it then that Wallace has developed a good reputation with the same skillset as Bowen and Bowen is considered one of, if not THE dirtiest player(s) in the NBA?

Be a fan of your team, but don't be blind.

Indulge us. The players themselves place only Fortson above him.

Who gets the late game on ESunsPN? Hmm. Pistons-Kings. I want to see how Detroit is doing without Ben.

Ben Wallace has no offensive skills and he's a star in the league.

Ben Wallace still puts the numbers up in the rebounds and blocks catagories while it can be considered a miracle if Bowen makes more than one 3 pointer in a game from the corner. Plus Ben Wallace gets attention for the afro.

Bowen is a thug

Bruce speaks proper english, has no visible tatoos and never complains about practice.

ndulge us. The players themselves place only Fortson above him.

Jason Terry for the low blow punch on Michael Finley.

The funny thing is after Fokai made that post asking you to name someone, I was expecting you to name a Maverick. Glad to see you didn't disappoint.

Not speaking proper english, having tattoos, and complaining about practice makes you a thug?

Haha, Chris Paul of the Charlotte Hornets. Okay!

Not automatically, but let's be honest here.

Actually he does have some sort of lingering injury. I don't recall what it is, but I was puzzled as well since he was on some of my teams, too. I've already dropped him from at least one of them.

The Knicks win one on the road against Denver. The last Knick possession was Crawford trying to get it to Marbury, but it was telegraphed, and Najera was going to pass it across the court, but Crawford jumped up, blocked the pass, got the ball again and nailed a three to put the Knicks up by 3. Carmelo got fouled with about 2.9 seconds left, made the first FT, missed the 2nd on purpose, JR Smith got the rebound, and missed the layup to end the game. Big win.

It's his groin, and the newswire says that he's healthy, but he needs to catch up with the team since he missed most of training camp.

Clyde's reaction to the last play in the Knicks/Nuggets game was priceless. Anyone who heard it knows what I'm talking about. He made a noise that really can't be described.

The Lakers never win in Portland.

It's too bad that Kobe's not healthy, if he's able to take the short rest coming into the 4th, LA probably wins that game.

Zach Randolph is a beast so far this season, three 30+ point/10+ rebound games out of five starts now, and suddenly he's become near-automatic from the FT line after being a 70% shooter over his career. I guess he's finally 100% after his microfracture surgery 2 years ago, whatever the reason i hope he keeps it up.
