alfdogg 0 Report post Posted December 1, 2006 I don't think a reason was ever given, but the popular opinion is that it's "one better than 23." *wink wink*

Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted December 1, 2006 I just said something like that a minute ago. He probably wants two numbers retired after his career is over. Although its funny that he changed his number the year after losing to the Suns in the playoffs. He orignally had the number 8 because of Mike D'Antoni. Maybe he hates him now or something. Steviekick 0 Report post Posted December 1, 2006 According to Wikipedia... Late in the season, it was reported that Bryant would change his jersey number from #8 to #24 at the start of the 2006-07 NBA season. #24 was Bryant's first high school number, before he switched to #33.[3] After the Lakers' season ended, Bryant said on TNT that he wanted #24 as a rookie, but it was unavailable, as was #33, retired with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. He said the switch to 24 signified the start of the second half of his career. Bryant took number 8 after his favorite Italian league player, Mike D'Antoni. Kobe Bryant grew up watching D'Antoni as a star point guard in the Italian league, where his father, "Jelly Bean" Bryant, also played.

Cheech Tremendous 0 Report post Posted December 1, 2006 Just saw that play from the other night where Nate Robinson tried a ridiculous bounce the ball to himself dunk and missed badly. He didn't even get punished! If I was his coach, I'd sit him at the end of the bench for a week. Does Isiah have any control over his team whatsoever? alfdogg 0 Report post Posted December 1, 2006 The players' union is suing the league NEW YORK -- The players' association filed two unfair labor practice charges Friday against the NBA over issues with the new ball and the league's crackdown on player complaints. A number of players publicly have complained about the change in the ball from leather to microfiber composite. But the crackdown on complaints after the whistle, often referred to as a "zero-tolerance policy," might be the bigger problem. With players fined for each technical they receive, union director Billy Hunter told The Associated Press last month that a lawsuit could be the next step if NBA commissioner David Stern didn't tell the referees to "back off." NBA spokesman Brian McIntyre said the league was "reviewing what they have filed." "Our obligation to represent our membership dictates the filing of these actions," Hunter said in a statement. "There is virtual unanimity amongst the players about their concerns and intense dislike for the new synthetic ball and the 'zero tolerance' policy. "After extensive consultation with our membership and player leadership we determined that this was the appropriate course of action." The union feels it was entitled to have input on both changes before they were put into play. The section of the collective bargaining agreement titled On-Court Conduct, states, in part: "Prior to the date on which any new rule promulgated by the NBA becomes effective, the NBA shall provide notice of such new rule to the Players Association and consult with the Players Association with respect thereto." He didn't even get punished! If I was his coach, I'd sit him at the end of the bench for a week. Does Isiah have any control over his team whatsoever? After the play Isiah poked him out of the huddle, then he left him in to embarrass him in front of the crowd. He said he missed a dunk in college, and Bobby Knight did the same thing. Leaving him out there in from of 20,000 to embarrass him for what he did. So yes, he does have control over the team.

Guest Report post Posted December 2, 2006 After last night, I realized that I miss Derek Fisher. Stephen Jackson is not the NBA's most upstanding citizen. In addition to his role in The Brawl and this summer's strip club incident, he's admitted to still repping his Port Arthur, TX Bloods. What a fucking idiot. Guest Felonies! Report post Posted December 2, 2006 3-game winning streak and the Bulls are still just 6-9. Fuck that Circus Trip; the Bulls and Blackhawks both got bent over this year. Either the circus should go back to the Horizon like it was when I used to go, or the Bulls should play one game there just to break up the fortnight of road games with one game in front of the home fans. Does any other team have a road trip as crippling as Chicago's? (Don't say the Hornets, smartass.)
Ripper 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2006 Either way, I doubt Nate's dumb enough to try pulling that again. Just you wait. I say he'll do something equally stupid in the next 4 or 5 weeks tops. He said that he would try it again. Then he said "But thats just Nate Robinson. You never know what he might do." And fuck missing it, he got called for traveling, because..you know...its traveling. So if he tries it again, its still traveling if he misses it or not. The Cavs beat the Hawks last night and it seemed like Lebron had like 40 and ones. Plus he had at least two fade away three pointers with two guys on him. It just wasn't meant to be last night for the Hawks when he is having one of those games. And by the way, is there any particular reason Daniel Gibson and Shannon Brown aren't starting right now with Hughes out over Wesley and Snow? Any whatsoever?
