Downhome Posted November 27, 2006 Report Posted November 27, 2006 Well shit. Last I heard the test results were looking fine, but there goes that. Good luck Roddy!
Guest NYankees Posted November 27, 2006 Report Posted November 27, 2006 How serious is Lymphoma cancer and what stage did they find it in? Does anybody know?
Downhome Posted November 27, 2006 Report Posted November 27, 2006 I believe it's pretty damn serious since it deals with the immune system. I don't know for sure, but I believe I've read that the survival rate for this type of cancer is far less than other kinds. It's not a death sentence, but it's a very hard fight.
10 Pounds Posted November 27, 2006 Report Posted November 27, 2006 Fuck man. I wish him all the best. Cancer is an absolutely horrible thing to have. Good luck Hot Rod.
geniusMoment Posted November 27, 2006 Report Posted November 27, 2006 Survival rate for non-hodgkins lymphoma cancer is 59% according to the Mayo Clinic.
CanadianChris Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 To clarify, that's the five-year survival rate for anyone with non-Hodgkins lymphoma. It could be different for a white male of Piper's age.
SamoaRowe Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 That's the worst news I've heard all day. Good luck to Piper, hope he kick's cancer's ass.
billdynamite Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 My girlfriend's dad went through non-hodgkins lymphoma about a year ago. He made it, but there were times he wanted to give up. If he can do it, Hot Rod can.
v.2 Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 It's one of those things that can spread really easily.
Lord of The Curry Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 To clarify, that's the five-year survival rate for anyone with non-Hodgkins lymphoma. It could be different for a white male of Piper's age. Not to be the downer of the party but with the amount of drug and alcohol abuse he's put his body through it's gotta be way less then that.
Downhome Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 What did Tenta have? EDIT: It was bladder cancer, and he was given a 20% chance to live.
Corey_Lazarus Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 I just recalled a recurring theme in his autobiography. "California, I'm Roddy Piper, and I'm going to kick your ass!" And "Portland, I'm Roddy Piper, and I'm going to kick your ass!" The Hot Rod mark in me hopes he's saying "Lymphoma Cancer, I'm Roddy Piper, and I'm going to kick your ass!" If he can get Hogan to do the J-O-B clean, he can kick cancer's ass. Just when cancer thinks it has all the answers, Piper's going to change the questions.
Enigma Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 One of my friends died of non-hodgkins lymphoma in 2002. He was playing basketball two days after our high school graduation, and felt so weak he couldn't drive himself home. He was taken to a hospital and they found the lymphoma. He was only 18 and it absolutely ravaged him. He died four months later. It was terrible to see what it was doing to him at the end. He was constantly throwing up and have seizure after seizure after seizure. To be fair though, he had suffered from Crohn's Disease all his life, so it probably assisted in his quick demise. I'm hoping they caught it early enough to where it won't cause Piper any severe problems. Cancer is a bitch.
Youth N Asia Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 Like everyone else I'm obvioiusly very sorry to hear this. But if anyone can beat it I'm sure it's Roddy
Downhome Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 How horrible is the timing for this though. He just recently returned to WWE once again, started an angle with Flair and the legends and the SS, won the tag titles with Ric Flair, and had his 3-disc DVD set be released. I guess we know why he looked horrible his last few times out.
pochorenella Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 Too bad for the Hot Rod. Good luck, Roddy. Hopefully you come out the winner on this one.
Ginger Snaps Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 I believe it's pretty damn serious since it deals with the immune system. I don't know for sure, but I believe I've read that the survival rate for this type of cancer is far less than other kinds. It's not a death sentence, but it's a very hard fight. Right. The serious danger is that you have lymph nodes all throughout your body so lymphoma cancer can spread easier to other organs. This is very sad news.
Jericholic82 Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 bad news. cancer sucks, my dads uncle just died from cancer on thanksgiving day come on rod, put the sleeperhold on that evil Lymphoma best wishes to the piper family
luke-o Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 Damn. I sure hope that Roddy can beat this, cancer sucks. My Grandads just been diagnosed with it, its a fuckin bitch. My thoughts are with you Hot Rod.
