Mr. S£im Citrus 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2007 They overpaid him for basically playing in that Nets frontcourt by himself for the last two months of that season - the rebounds had to go somewhere besides Kidd. And yet, he still only managed to average five a game... Can we please stop referring to Petrie as a great GM? Oh, and tell Yi Jianlian to fuck Yi Jianlian; if that dickhead forces his way to Sacramento, I may have to defect to the Bobcats.
LivingLegendGaryColeman 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2007 Plus they are probably going to buy out Darius MIles eventually. I just don't understand why a point guard would sign there. I know they said Blake loved it there and the management loved him. Right after he got traded in that Milwaukee deal, he was still working out in the Blazers facility for a while. You are right though, many other teams would have used him as a starter. I could see them giving him the nod over Jack maybe... but just because he liked it there isn't good enough. A lot of other teams would've used him better. According to HoopsHype, Oregon's paper is reporting that Jack is considered on the block since the signing of Blake. He is expected to be traded before training camp, maybe in a package with Przybilla. Also, Jason Hart signed a multi-year deal with Utah, terms not disclosed. Joe Smith looks like going to Chicago to take PJ Brown's role for the mid-level exception. Mo Williams re-ups with the Bucks, 6 years, $52 mil. DeShawn Stevenson is close to 4 years, $15 million from Washington And Ron Artest and Steven Jackson have been handed 7 game suspensions for conduct off the court. Guest • Report post Posted July 14, 2007 Oh, and tell Yi Jianlian to fuck Yi Jianlian; if that dickhead forces his way to Sacramento, I may have to defect to the Bobcats.[/color] What did Yi ever do to you? Moreover, it's not Yi himself that seems to be trying to force trades out of Milwaukee. He's a pawn, moreso than most highly paid athletes. Yeah, I know you're all deeply offended that any player would ever have the gall to not want to play somewhere, but really, who gives a shit? Especially since he's trying to get out of one of the NBA's worst markets. Cut Team Yi a little slack here.

Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2007 I'm glad to see Mikki Moore get paid. He's been a journeyman for a long time, I remember when he was playing on 10 day contracts and bouncing in and out of the league. He always stuck out to me as a guy who was active and could make things happen in a limited role, and he can make a difference in the right situation like Jersey last year or when he was in the Detroit rotation a while back. Unfortunately for Sacramento, I'm almost positive that won't be the case there. If the Nets or maybe Memphis gave him that deal I could see it, but I think he's wasted on that team. Czech got told off in teal...badass. That's the most 90s-style smackdown I've ever gotten since I was told that I supplied TMI! Don't tell me to fuck me. Don't call him a "trick," because I have no clue what that means, being a sheltered white kid and all. I'm sorry, but I can't get worked up about draftees holding out if it's not concerning my team. I have no deep philosophical objections to it other than "I don't suppose that's entirely fair," but you know what? The Bucks are probably going to get a pretty sweet deal when they trade this guy. Situations like these work themselves out in the end: Eric Lindros and the Avalanche say hello. It's just some overrated Chinese guy. Let his cabal trick some big-city team into cashing in on the Chinese market while just getting a decent player.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2007 So the Chinese National team's head guy says they are going to block Yi from coming to the Bucks. I personally feel sorry for the guy. His only comments after being drafted by the bucks at first were that he was happy to play for them and he doesn't think he would be traded. then comes his handlers, agents, and national team demanding he be moved and everyone is looking at him as a villian. Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2007 Interestingly, he was not at all offended by reports that Knicks coach and president Isiah Thomas would be unwilling to include David Lee in an Artest deal. He even agreed that the Knicks shouldn't make that deal after his experience playing streetball with Lee at 115th and Lenox last summer. "If some crazy scenario happened where I was with the Knicks, I would want David Lee there," Artest said. "I love David Lee. I played with him in the 'hood last summer, and he showed so much heart. They were trying to rough up David Lee, but David Lee got rough right back. And this was the projects, you know? And I respected that. "I wouldn't trade myself for David Lee at all. I love his game. I love how he rebounds. To come off the bench and average close to 10 rebounds, you can't trade a guy like that. You don't trade a guy like David Lee, and Isiah made a great call. I would have done the same thing." David Lee is a G!!

Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted July 18, 2007 http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story...=simmons/070718 Besides, anything -- and I mean anything -- can happen during Summer League in Vegas. I found this out while playing blackjack at the Wynn's European pool on Saturday afternoon. Improbably, I ran into one of my favorite announcers, Gus Johnson, who loves me because I love him. Just as I was about to make Gus announce a few of my blackjack hands ("Here's the double-down card ... OHHHHHHHH, IT'S A 10!!!!!"), he implored me to come over and meet Isiah Thomas -- that's right, my frequent column target, who once threatened "trouble" if we ever met on the street. After I explained to Gus why this would be a horrible idea, he countered, "Hold on, I got this; I'll fix this." He left while I kept playing blackjack, wondering how to defend myself if Isiah came at me with a piña colada. Minutes later, Gus waved me over and introduced me to Isiah, who was quite gracious and gave me 30 minutes. I explained my side, he explained his, and that was that. Maybe the details don't matter as much as the story itself: Gus Johnson brokering peace talks between me and Isiah Thomas at a topless pool in Vegas. Honestly, I'd tell you more, but you know the old saying ...

Ripper 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2007 Steve Francis back to Houston. Should have gone to the Clippers honestly. But in Houston he now has to consistantly outplay Mike James and Rafer Alston. Not saying it isn't possible, but both are better shooters than him (although he is a better scorer when creating his own shot) and rebounder. Should be intersting. Despite what others might think about Francis, he can still be a very good player if he is happy. He stopped being effective when they traded Cuttino Mobley from Orlando and hasn't been happy with his position since.

LivingLegendGaryColeman 0 Report post Posted July 20, 2007 I know not a lot of people are interested in it, but I think that Travis Diener signing with the Pacers could end up being one of the big surprises. Diener had a lot of potential but was stuck at the end of the bench for Orlando. Indiana has been looking for a PG and Diener could turn some heads. Derek Fisher is officially a Laker again. Other little moves include Jake Voskuhl to the Bucks, Oberto re-signs with Spurs and Carroll re-signs with Bobcats.

Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted July 20, 2007 SEATTLE -- The Seattle SuperSonics on Friday acquired veteran forward Kurt Thomas and the Phoenix Suns' first-round draft choices in 2008 and 2010, in exchange for a conditional second round draft choice. Seattle also used its $9 million trade exception with Phoenix to complete the deal. The Sonics gained the exception from Orlando earlier this month when they completed a sign-and-trade deal that sent Rashard Lewis to the Magic. The Phoenix Suns: if you won't even buy our first round picks, then hell, we'll just give them to you!
Broward83 0 Report post Posted July 20, 2007 Ya know what? I'm happy Francis is coming back to Houston. With JVG out, alot of problems that Stevie had with the style of play are gone and I think Adleman has the type of coaching style to steer Steve into the right direction. Add to this that he doesn't have to be the number one option on the club along with the knowledge of how to play with Yao and feed him the ball and I think problems that hurt the club can be taken care of. Now, just get Calvin Murphy back to calling games and things will be alright.

milliondollarchamp 0 Report post Posted July 29, 2007 Curry robbed at gunpoint Former Bull Eddy Curry was robbed at gunpoint in his southwest suburban home early Saturday, less than a month after fellow NBA star Antoine Walker was victimized in a similar attack in Chicago. A law enforcement source called the similarities between the two incidents "striking" and said there was a strong likelihood that they were somehow connected. Curry, a 6-foot-11-inch center for the New York Knicks, was at his Burr Ridge mansion with three family members and an employee when the home invasion took place around 12:15 a.m. Saturday, Burr Ridge Police said in a statement. Three armed offenders wearing masks bound the 285-pound Curry and the other victims with duct tape and then fled with cash and jewelry. No one was injured. "We are interested in that case," Burr Ridge Deputy Police Chief John Madden said, adding that his department has been in contact with the Chicago Police Department. Chicago Police, meanwhile, maintained there are several similarities between the robberies. In each case, three armed robbers wearing masks were waiting inside the home and used duct tape to bind the NBA player. And in each case, jewelry was taken, police noted. But unlike the Walker robbery, during which the Miami Heat forward's Mercedes was stolen, no vehicles were taken from Curry's home. Walker was also ambushed in broad daylight, while Curry was robbed late at night. The robbers in the Walker stickup have not been caught, but a woman and man were later caught with two of Walker's watches and a diamond necklace, all of which had been taken in the holdup. Belmont Area Cmdr. Tom Byrne, whose Chicago Police detectives are heading up the investigation into the Antoine Walker robbery, said they will compare cases with Burr Ridge police. "We're making really good progress on ours," Byrne said. "Obviously we're going to keep in close contact with Burr Ridge. We'll work with them to look at the similarities." The Walker case received a flood of publicity, and it is possible Saturday's robbers in Burr Ridge were copycats. Sources said Chicago Police recovered "usable" footage from a security camera outside Walker's River North home. Burr Ridge police were reportedly reviewing security footage captured from a camera at Curry's mansion. Curry could not be reached for comment Saturday, but he told the Knicks the robbery was "a traumatic experience," according to a statement issued by the team. "We [are] aware of the situation and are very thankful that Eddy Curry and his family are safe," the Knicks statement said. Family and friends said Curry was doing fine. NBA security reportedly visited Curry's home after the robbery Saturday. Curry, 24, was a standout player at Thornwood High in South Holland who went on to be a top scorer for the Chicago Bulls. He was traded to the Knicks in 2005 after refusing to take a DNA test to determine if he had a heart condition. http://www.suntimes.com/news/metro/488658,...curry29.article
