I only caught the last few moments. I'm hoping Detroit can pull it out, but it'll be tough even at home. Deanna Nolan's from my hometown, so it's great to see her do well; saw her play once or twice in H.S. when I was about 9.

The whole Cheryl Ford Karl Malone thing gives me one more reason to hate that piece of shit.

 

I know she forgave him, but he didn't want any part of her until she became a star basketball player at his alma mater. Fuck him.

 

But with this series, Personally, if they just let Caddie and Deanna play one on one for the championship, I would watch that.

It's odd, losing the team's next franchise superstar for his whole rookie season should bother me a lot more than it is, i guess the Jailblazers era has made me numb to the repeated disappointments this team has provided pretty much the entire time i've been a fan.

 

Looking on the bright side, Roy, Aldridge, Outlaw, Webster, Frye, Jack & Rodriguez will get full opportunity to play maximum minutes and should make for a fun if not particularly good team, give those guys a full season of experience and improvement, add yet another top 5 lottery pick and a healed Greg Oden and 2008/09 should be shaping up pretty damn nicely for Portland. Hopefully.

A nomination for some national parenting award (and a subsequent tabloid article) forced Malone to acknowledge Cheryl and her brother. That was before she started playing at Louisiana Tech. Yeah he was an asshole about it, but at least he's trying to make amends by publicly supporting Cheryl and going into business with his son Daryl.

regarding the detroit-phoenix wnba game, when is the final game of that series supposed to air? I haven't seen much if any at all, but i'm rooting for the Shock, mostly because of Lamb and Mahorn

i find it interesting that the teams apparently emulate the Suns and Pistons (a nba finals i've been wanting to see for the past 3 years)

Deanna played like a beast, but Caddie played a wonderful game.

 

Its funny listening to them constantly be on D. Taurasi's clit throughout this series and the year when Caddie has obviously been the MVP of the team more times than not.

 

But thats cool. Penny Taylor put up a big game too, which was huge for them. One hell of a series with a pretty anticlimatic finish, but hey, who cares. I am happy. My team won.

I really wished that Sloan would have made his exit from the Jazz when Stockton and Malone did.

 

As much as I like Kirilenko, I don't think that it will effect the Jazz too much. Millsap is going to be good and it clears up a lot of salary. But still, I'd rather him stay...

Millsap is a center/PF. Kirilenko is a SF.

 

But I agree, I am not sure how much of a difference it will make, but AK shutting Steven Jackson down in the second round last year was huge.

 

He would be a huge factor playing against Dallas or Denver in the playoffs. Not so much against San Antonio or Phoenix.

He wants to be apart of the offense and is a slasher. Thus, big men that demand a double on the block is going to be a problem for him.

 

I am guessing that Utah would want either a solid two guard or a big. Mostly a solid two guard.

 

I don't know when it happened but 2 guard is probably the most lacking position in the NBA right now.

 

But I say trade him to New Jersey for RJ who could sorta play the 2 guard position.

Millsap played mostly as a back up to Kirilenko and Boozer last season. They could use a defense minded PF/C. I'm not sure what's up with the guard positions because they signed to scrub PG's and the SG situation is still a mess.

Speaking of the Jazz, I just read that Dee Brown's still working out with various teams. If the Pacers have the money left, I'd love to see them give him a look.

 

Charlie Bell signed an offer sheet with Miami a couple days ago and was pretty adamant about not wanting the Bucks to match, but apparently the Bucks haven't ruled it out yet. I don't get the whole "WELL YOUR GONNA PLAY FOR US WHETHER YOU WANT TO OR NOT" sentiment in these situations sometimes. If the guy wants to leave, let him leave, shit. It's a little different when it's Elton Brand signing the offer sheet a few years back, but this is Charlie Bell we're talking about here. The guy's a solid player, but he's far from irreplaceable.

Kirilenko wants out of Utah so badly that he said he'll just forgo the remaining $63 million on his contract and return to Europe, if ownership will let him.

Every other team in the league would pay him too much to leave. Not 63 million, but if you can get Andrei for 30 or 40 over the same length of time, GM's around the league would be killing each other to get that done.

 

Just imagine him as the final piece in Boston, or the PF they want in Jersey or Houston or the SF that doesn't suck in Miami.

 

Or even scarier, the replacement for Bruce Bowen in San Antonio or a SF for Dallas so they can move Howard to the 2.

I assume that if they let him out of the contract it would be contingent on him not signing with another NBA team until whenever the original deal was set to expire. They'll never let him go to another team without compensation.

Isaiahs mistakes have been Jerome James, MAYBE Jared Jeffries, and thats about it. It was Larry Browns idea to trade for Steve Francis (although, Isaiah was going to trade David Lee and Penny for Daruis Miles so, that WOULD have been another mistake).

 

Besides that he has made smart trades, great draft picks, and the team showed major improvement last year when Larry Brown wasn't coach.

 

But seriuosly, they are acting like the guy is easily guilty of this whole sexual harrasment thing which is just plain bad journalism.

They were just a bad team when Isiah got there. Now they are a mismanaged mess that is the laughingstock of the league. Shady characters. Bad contracts. Putrid performances. Sloppy management.

 

A couple of "name" players are good if you're running a fantasy team, but what they've put on the floor the past few years is a joke. And if this trial is any indication, the franchise is even worse off the court.

 

But really, why would sports writers like Isiah? He was a fabulous player in his day, but he's proven to be rather aloof in his other ventures.
