alfdogg 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2007 I'd say the Suns got the better of them in the Marbury trade, since they were able to use the cap space they freed up to sign Steve Nash.
Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2007 To be fair, she filed an internal complaint about Thomas, then got fired, then filed the lawsuit. So it's not like she was initially after the money. And really, it was the fact that she got fired after speaking up and MSG couldn't really provide a believable defense for it being unrelated, and the anecdotal evidence of the chauvinist climate at MSG that won it for her, the verdict reached said as much. I can't really take sides. I don't doubt that Thomas said or did some 'inaproriate' things, but a lot of Sanders' evidence sounded like little shit blown out of proportion. They definitely proved a pattern of behavior though. But there's a really thin line when it comes to sexual harassment in the workplace, and in terms of like what's a joke, what's the tone and situations, and what's acceptable to an individual person and what crosses the line, only Thomas and Sanders really know what went down between the two of them. lomasmoney 0 Report post Posted October 5, 2007 I think that Isiah gets a horrible rap as a GM. Sure he signed Jerome James to a contract worth approximately about as much the GNP of France, but he took a team that was both old AND terrible, and turned them into a young, somewhat deep(although they all play similar positions), potential laden playoff contending team, and people say he is a bad GM. He is a better GM than about half of the NBA, and I would even say that outside of Joe Dumars and John Paxson, what player turned GM has been better over the last 5 years as far as making moves ? Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted October 5, 2007 Until every last drop of that potential is realized, he's terrible in my book. I know what he is trying to do, it doesn't matter until he actually does it. Effort doesn't count for shit in sports until the positive results come from that effort. When the Knicks become a better team and become a legit threat to make the playoffs, I'll jump off of Isaiah. For example, Matt Millen has been *trying* to make the Lions good for years. Until quite possibly this year, he has done a piss-poor job of it.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted October 5, 2007 Pardon me for a second as I wipe the tears from my eyes. But...Mike Woodson had a wonderful discovery this offseason. Get ready for this.... Perhaps having one of the most athletic teams in the NBA run a half court grind it out, post up offense with no post up players wasn't a good idea. They have now FINALLY spread the court and are running a quick hitting, high pace offense. And they are florishing because of it so far in practice (yeah I know, its practice, but if you have seen scrimmages from the last couple of years from this team, you would know, this is a good thing). Al Horford is looking good. Acie Law looks like he definately should be the starter, Josh Childress is like a giddy kid in this new offense and Josh Smith, who spent the summer working out with Ojajawon and Calvin Murphy in Houston, is showing off an array of post moves and a nice fade away jumper. Plus they are actually forming a true second unit to have a 9-10 man rotation to accomidate this high pace offense and the guys are good enough defensively to do that. I am excited. I am more excited about the Hawks than I am the Suns right now...even though the Suns should win the Championship.

Ripper 0 Report post Posted October 5, 2007 No. Not at all. It shouldn't have taken this many years for the dumb fuck to realize he wasn't coaching the Pistons. Now, god forbid they make the playoffs, the shittiest coach in the NBA will get and extension. But I am still excited for the team...just...Fuck Mike Woodson. Guest Report post Posted October 6, 2007 Al Sharpton promised to lead protests against Madison Square Garden unless Isiah Thomas apologizes for saying whites and blacks should be held to different standards regarding the use of certain derogatory language. In a videotaped deposition introduced at his sexual harassment trial, Thomas said: "A white man calling a black female 'bitch,' that is wrong with me. I am not accepting that. That's a problem for me." But he added he wouldn't be as angry if the same words came from a black man. "I'm sorry to say. I do make a distinction," Thomas said. It's his damned opinion, so what? I mean if he wants to get more upset if I called a black woman a bitch than if Dave Chapelle did, that's his opinion, why protest that? People these days. Ripper 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2007 And the press is still taking his comments purposely out of context. In the same video he repatedly says that its not okay for a man to call a woman that. He said he would be more angry if a white guy called a black woman a bitch than a black man. Its not saying he is cool with a black man calling a black woman a bitch. Just that a white man saying it pisses him off more. His comments in no way make it okay for anyone to call a woman a bitch and reporting it as such is bullshit. I mean, yeah. He still doesn't like white people and is probably racist, but at least report what he said as what he said.

It matters because it matters to him. If he didn't say it, he would have been lying. But at the same time, the very next sentence he was stressing that it is not cool for anyone, but it does bother him more if a white guy says it. Like, it bothers me if anyone gets raped, but I am honestly more bothered if it happens to a 5 year old than a 35 year old. That might be quite fucked up, but hey...thats how my mind works. Is it right? Probably not. But I also didn't exactly say it was okay to rape 35 year olds either.
Guest Gym Class Fallout Report post Posted October 7, 2007 Well, I think anybody can agree that it's especially sick if a 5-year-old gets raped, but that's not the same thing as making a racial distinction with calling someone a bitch. It's just Isiah being an idiot in this case.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2007 Coulda sworn I posted here earlier. Anyway. Dwight Howards jumper looked great last night. And if he continues to hit that with consistancy....ew. Boxer 0 Report post Posted October 11, 2007 Allan Houston has returned to the NBA. With the Knicks. Well, they have a loaded roster now, I wonder who is gonna get cut.
Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted October 11, 2007 Allan Houston re-signed with the Knicks. He'll be fighting with Fred Jones and Dimitrius Nichols for a roster spot. Nichols has a future in the NBA IMO but the Knicks are down on him for refusing to play the year in Europe and the rumour is Jones had the edge due to being a veteran and a better defender. If Houston can't beat out Fred Jones he probably shouldn't be in the NBA. There's also a chance that Jerome James is bought out, though with Curry getting hurt that's less likely to happen I guess. I hope Houston makes the team. He's a genuinely good guy, great with the media, and he'd be a good veteran presence and role model for the Knicks young players. And it would be a great feel good story.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted October 11, 2007 Nichols is 14 years younger and could be every bit the shooter that Houston is. Allan isn't making this team. The Knicks have legitimately 11 guys that should be in the rotation already. Thats not counting Jones. Marbury Robinson(although i am not opposed to benching him, his energy brought them back in alot of games last year) Collins Crawford Lee Morris Chandler Curry Randolph Richardson Jeffries Its a great story though. And Anderson Varajo(sp) is still holding out in Cleveland for a 6 year 65 million dollar contract. Thus...he wants Steve Nash's contract. ... Alrighty. Sasha Pavolvic(sp) is also holding out. He was offered a 3 year, 9 million dollar contract but said no. ... Alrighty.
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted October 11, 2007 How does that work? I thought Varejao was more a sixth man type player? I thought Gooden was the starting PF and Ilgauskas the starting C?

Marbury Robinson(although i am not opposed to benching him, his energy brought them back in alot of games last year) Collins Crawford Lee Morris Chandler Curry Randolph Richardson Jeffries plus Renaldo Balkman You know, I wrote 12 guys and couldn't think of the 12th so I edited to. But yeah. Theonly guy you can make an argument for not getting much PT would be Wilson Chandler maybe. All the rest of those guys really should recieved decent minutes (although it is obvious that they won't). Still, to my original point, Houston ain't making this team. And about Anderson, yes, he is the 6th man. He wants 65 million dollars to back up the front court. While people might look at Phoenix and say they gave Boris Diaw a 5 year 50 million dollar deal, they are and were fully aware that Marion, if not traded by now, would opt out after this year. Varajo offers you basically nothing offensively and about the same rebounding numbers big z and gooden give you. He is insane if he thinks anyone in the leage, even if they were under the cap, would pay him 10 million+ a year.

Guest Report post Posted October 12, 2007 The Lakers are taking a pretty good ass kicking against the Warriors. The game is nowhere near as close as the score indicates. Pietrus hurt his back...and it's a good thing it's preseason. The "defense" is embarrasing. The media is blowing the latest Buss comments way out of proportion, but I'm not surprised. I'll believe what they say when I see it happen.
