Maztinho 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2007 Gilbert Arenas involved in cheating scandal! Why do I see the guys from Big Bang Theory having Agent 0 as a guest star and chanting "One of Us!" at him in my head now?
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2007 Hopefully I remember to catch IND/MEM on Wednesday. Judging by boxscores alone, we've looked really good so far in two fairly decisive wins against New Orleans and Seattle.
Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2007 Varejao wants to go and play the marginally easier game in his home country. He has seen that he is not going to the the majority of calls when he flops around in the league, and he doesn't have much offense, so he is asking for a ridiculous amount of money in order to be told to get lost. Pavlovic I am not sure about, but neither one is worth the money they are asking by any stretch of the imagination. Buss is not going to trade Kobe, because there is no reason for anyone to watch the Lakers if he did. Especially in a front-running town like L.A. Once Kobe goes, the franchise goes down for at least 5-7 years afterward. I went to the Pistons game tonight, and I'll be damned if Jarvis Hayes is not that shooter that the Pistons needed. He had 24 points, and his jumper was devastating. Another fan and myself were amazed by his touch. Rodney Stuckey is going to struggle mightily until he finds his way, which is pretty much what has been expected. It was a good game, and the young guys off the bench played some good defense in the last several minutes. AI and Melo didn;t play so it might be a different story when they play again in Grand Rapids. A good night was had.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2007 The only problem with Jarvis is that he WILL get hurt. I used to love watching that jumper when he played for Georgia though.
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2007 Pacers win again, over the Hornets again in New Orleans, 117-104. Seven players in double figures. I could get to like this new style. Ike Diogu had 19 on 7-7 FG and 5-5 FTs, and Troy Murphy had 14/9 for the so-called "losers" of last season's trade.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2007 If they don't play Ike, they will be the losers of the trade. I get the feeling though that Obrien will be the first coach not to suffer from the retardation that strikes others coaches when it comes to him though. Guest Gym Class Fallout Report post Posted October 17, 2007 I feel that this has to be the year that the Bulls don't stumble out of the gate. I expect at least 50 wins this year, so I don't want to hear about how they need to adjust and learn the system. These guys have all been here for at least three years now. They need to start winning early, because I don't want to see them fall behind the 8-ball with Detroit and Cleveland trying to contend as well. I feel confident that there will be no Circus Trip jitters, though, because Ben Wallace is allowed to wear a headband now.

That might be, but they already proved they were good enough to make the playoffs. What I want to see is a conference finals appearance or better. I'd be disappointed with any other finish to their season.
Guest Gym Class Fallout Report post Posted October 17, 2007 Oh, I thought I've already mentioned that I picked the Bulls to win the East. That too! I'm told that there are some very promising reports about Deng and Gordon improving even further. That's exciting, but I also hope that Tyrus Thomas starts to show that he's not a total retard, that Joakim Noah isn't a bust, and JamesOn Curry turns out to be a big steal. Paxson usually avoids drafting fuckups, so if Curry turns out to be productive, Pax can really distinguish himself as not being overly obsessed with "character guys," a criticism that had really begun to develop toward the end of last season, unfairly, in my opinion. Look how long he's stuck with Chris Duhon.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2007 I don't see how the Bulls will win the East with their dependancy on the jumpshot. They need to get a consistant scoring threat and honestly, jumpshots isn't the mark of consistancy. That is what separates every good team from the pretenders in the league. Cheech Tremendous 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2007 Marc Stein's latest column indicates that it is inevitable that the Kobe Bryant is traded and that it should happen before the season starts.
Guest Gym Class Fallout Report post Posted October 17, 2007 The Bulls won't get Kobe Bryant, but I feel really good about this team anyway, jumpshot dependency be damned. They'll just outwork everybody else and prevail that way.
Guest Report post Posted October 17, 2007 As long as the team adds pieces that will help them compete in a year or two, I have no problem with trading Kobe, at all. If he's pissed off, well, he brought this upon himself after running his mouth all over the radio earlier this summer.
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2007 Who COULD trade for Kobe now? It seems like all the "pieces" that would be required, the original teams will want to hang on to.
Guest Report post Posted October 17, 2007 Yeah, I know. Unless Dallas wants to step in and offer a deal around Devin Harris and Josh Howard, there's not much they can do...
Ripper 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2007 I still stand by the Marion/Barbosa/Atlantas first round Pick, and other picks for Kobe. You get back 40+ points per game, around 12-13 rebounds out of marion, a young superstar in the making with Barbosa at a low 5 year contract, a low draft pick, a two guys that could play well off of odom. They only problems consist of there is no way Barbosa understands the triangle this year and you are giving a conference rival Kobe. The other trade that would make the most sense would a RJ and Vince Carter package for Kobe. Nachbar could step in at the SF, and Kobe would be the one two punch with Kidd. Besides those two, any other team would have to destroy their roster to get him.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2007 Oh and Brad Miller officially ushers in the white guys with cornrows era into the NBA. I knew it would either be him or Jason Williams, although I have this feeling that its coming from David lee.
Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2007 I don't think the Lakers would want/need Devin Harris as they already have Derek Fisher, Jordan Farmar, Javaris Crittenton and Coby Karl. Other than Howard I don't see much that LA would want, so I can't see that deal happening. Chicago I don't see happening unless LA is content with something consisting of Gordon/Thomas/Nocioni or an approximation of that, because I don't think Paxson will trade Deng. Didn't Kobe make a comment about not wanting to play for NY? If he was willing to go there the Knicks might have the pieces to pull off a deal, but probably not. I thought about Philly because Kobe played high school ball there, but then I remembered that the fans there have always booed the shit out of him, and aside from Igoudala they really don't have any players that LA would value. One team that makes sense to me on paper is Memphis. A package of Rudy Gay/Mike Miller/Hakim Warrick would be worth looking at for LA, and the pairing of Kobe and Pau would be an instant contender.
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2007 Too bad Jerry West isn't with Memphis. That'd be extra motivation for Kobe to play in Memphis.
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2007 At the risk of annoying you guys with my team ala Marvin, I have to talk about tonight's game, since it's the first one I actually got to watch most of. Indy's now 4-0 in the preseason after a 122-115 win against Memphis. We led by as many as 28 in the third quarter, and let them get as close as six, but other than that, we made the big shots when we needed to, we looked really sharp on offense, and it was great to watch. Marquis Daniels was all over the place tonight, and not having him the last couple months of the season was the difference between making and missing the playoffs, IMO. Other than Howard I don't see much that LA would want, so I can't see that deal happening. We'd need another guard if Kobe were to go..enter Harris. I don't think the Lakers need to be concerned about what positions they are acquiring, but they need to get the most value out of a Kobe deal possible. So, Harris and Howard lends to that "most value possible" from Dallas, IMO. I maintained and still do, that the Lakers will be better off (maybe this year) and definitely in the future if they trade Kobe.

Its preseason. It means your 12th man has more talent than other teams 12th man. The Hawks are 4-1. Some things are cool to watch, like how the offense moves and stuff, but the wins/losses...not so much.
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2007 Well the record was just meant as a side comment, I know it won't mean anything once the season starts. I mostly was trying to put over our newfound assertiveness on offense. I can't believe people actually think Kobe will get traded. I just don't see it happening, at least not this year of for the forseeable future. (not anyone here, but they talked about it during the game and Quinn Buckner said he thought Kobe would be traded this year.)
Ripper 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2007 They are going to have to trade him though. A: He will just opt out his contract and B: He is going to be a HUGE distraction and will stunt the growth of basically all of their young players. The longer they wait, the less worse the deal for him will get.
Krankor 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2007 Kobe wants to play in Chicago and that's where LA could get the most in return for him, but Chicago absolutely won't make any deal for Kobe this season. No chance in hell. Paxson wants to see how this team is going to work out now that Deng and Gordon have progressed another year. If Chicago still can't get anything done in the playoffs they will try and make a deal for Kobe. Bulls will have to give up some combination of Deng, Gordon or Hinrich, Thomas or Noah, some extra bad contracts and some draft picks. The Lakers are going to want the team's best player in return for Kobe to try and at least draw some fans to the arena. Chicago would have to try to package Gordon in the deal and try and hang on to Hinrich. I really don't see Ben Gordon being an effective point guard for Chicago if he would still be there after any sort of trade. I think a lineup of Ben Wallace, Noah, Nocioni, Kobe, and Hinrich would be pretty damn good team. I would assume if the Bulls landed Kobe they could probably attract some other cheap veteran scavenger wanting to tag on and try and win a championship.
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2007 I think of all the Bulls young players Paxson would probably want to trade Deng the least (yes that includes Hinrich). Gordon will most likely be Los Angeles bound if a Kobe trade is worked out, and I'd assume Nocioni and either Thabo/Tyrus Thomas/Noah or two or all three will be involved as well depending on how much Lakers want for Kobe. I think Paxson will consider it a success if he has Hinrich and Deng after the trade. Then again getting one of, if not THE, best players in the NBA while keeping your young near-superstar PG and SF would win Paxson the GM of the year award right out of the gate, so that said I don't see it happening. Boxer 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2007 Is Jason Kidd joining DX or is he already an unofficial member? October 18, 2007 -- A drop-dead gorgeous model who told cops she was groped twice by New Jersey Net Jason Kidd at a trendy Manhattan club said the NBA star taunted her when she objected - and threatened to crush her if they got into a brawl, sources told The Post. "If we got into a fight, who do you think would win?" the 6-foot, 4-inch superstar allegedly said to the plus-sized brunette, the sources claimed. As The Post reported exclusively, the alleged groping occurred early Oct. 10 at Tenjune in the West Village. Bouncers saw the towering Net and 23-year-old model exchanging words, and intervened to make sure they were seated at separate tables, sources said. Yesterday, spokesmen for Kidd and the nightclub denied any impropriety on his part. The Nets and NBA declined to comment. According to sources, Kidd's hands allegedly wandered over the model's buttocks and crotch twice, despite her protests. Detectives are investigating possible charges of forcible touching or sex abuse in the third degree - both misdemeanors that would be written up as a desk-appearance ticket, the sources said. "This accusation is a complete fabrication and it is sad that someone would make something like this up," a spokesman for Kidd said. The spokesman for Tenjune said, "Management did not receive any complaints of inappropriate behavior that evening." Kidd wasn't involved in the Nets' practice yesterday; the athlete, who has a history of back problems, was hurt Sunday. http://www.nypost.com/seven/10182007/news/..._fight_thre.htm
