NBA Roundtable Discussion

Recommended Posts

Yeah, I guess, but still. baseball and football easily trumps them in arrest every year (i guess because of the smaller number of players) but you can usually count 1-5 incident in the NBA offseason. Then 2 of those will end up being bullshit(like the Rafer Alston incident).

So this year we have Andray Blatche(sp) trying to get a prositute.

Rafer Alstons two arrest (one of which is most certainly bullshit)

I guess you could count Eddie Griffin.

Justin Reed (who?) got arrested for having weed last week.

And I think thats about it. You have a couple of wreckless drivings, but thats about it.

But eh, who cares.

The most important thing about this offseason:

Reporter: Darko, first impressions?

Darko: All right, but let's do it over there.

Reporter: Darko Milicic, congratulations despite the loss. First impressions?

Darko: Nothing, these three big [expletive]heads, these two ... three [expletive for lady parts] have cheated us, that's what happened. This [expletive for lady part], these three [expletive]heads think they are something. I will go and [expletive] their mothers' [expletive for lady parts]--all three of them, that's what I'm gonna [inaudible] ... [expletive for lady parts] all three of them, I'm gonna [expletive] his Italian mother in her [expletive for lady parts], man, that's what I want to say...

Reporter: Darko, calm down a little bit. Your impressions of the game?

Darko: He's a [expletive]head, he should [expletive] my [expletive for man parts], go on ... write that, man ... all three of them, the first one and the second one and the third one ... I don't give a [expletive] about this, that's what I want to say.

Reporter: [inaudible]

Darko: [Expletive for lady parts] ... they don't call anything...he [expletive] in his pants ... I will [expletive] his mother in the mouth, man ... if he has a daughter, I will also [expletive] his daughter.

Reporter: [inaudible]

Darko: [inaudible] ... we are fighting here, I died ... I need an infusion, do you understand...and they cheat us like [expletive for waste]...

I will go and fuck their mothers pussies...all three of them.

That is the most awsome threat I have heard in a long time.

I'm gonna fuck his Italian mother in her pussy, man, that's what I want to say...

I would pay money to have that tape.

The Sixers and Nuggets getting their trade on again.

Reggie Evans and Ricky Sanchez for Steven Hunter and Bobby Jones.

This is a few weeks after Samuael Dalenbert injures his foot, the Sixers decide to trade their backup center for two players that can't play the center position.

Denver on the other hand gives up two guys that weren't going to play that much anyway (assuming that Kenyon Martins knees don't explode again) for a solid player in Jones and a decent shotblocker to backup Camby.

I liked this trade for Denver too, but according to Denver papers they are apparently waiving Bobby Jones today.

Sixers replaced their center by signing Calvin Booth. I think Booth is solid as a backup still, but if Dalembert is out, I don't know how he is going to do as a starter.

Well, i guess that the trade isn't that horrible now, although I don't know why the Nuggets are waving Jones. I like him. The Sixers actually had an idea of what they wanted to do when they made the trade. Imagine that.

It amuses me to no end to know that Calvin Booth is still in the NBA. I used to always see that dude walking around Penn State when he was a gangly-ass freshman & sophomore, never once thinking he'd make it to the NBA. If he sticks around another couple years, he'll have been in the league for a decade. Craaaaazy.

And the only reason he is still in the league is because of ONE layup against the Utah Jazz when he was in Dallas. He got that huge contract for two points.

The thing that I always am amused with is Booth is from a personal experience too. For the past few years, I've been hitting up the Summer League in Vegas to watch all the young guys. The first couple years, no one was there, but as it has gotten more and more publicity, it has gotten bigger every year. The first year you could just walk up to Dwight Howard like he was in a high school gym, this year it is a little harder to even see anybody, but people are still wandering around. I mean, I'll be sitting watching a game and have a coach, or someone I used to watch play come sit near me. Like, two years ago Mario Elie just came next to me, and Avery Johnson sat a few seats over once. Well, sometimes current players come to check things out. I've seen Calvin Booth there watching the Wizards the past two years. This year, he came in and sat in the same area I usually saw him sit in. But this year there was a huge like YMCA kids group. None of them knew who he was, but due to his size, they knew he was players. Flocks of children came and wouldn't leave him alone, getting him to autograph whatever he could. Now, I am a huge basketball fan, and admittedly, I have some bizarre autographs, including Booth, but just all these children were treating him like Michael Jordan and they didn't even know what team he was on or who he was!

The Arizona Republic is reporting that the Suns and Jazz discussed trading Marion and AK-47 but the talks have been shelved for now and never got past the initial talks.

If you are indeed reading my suggestions on this site Steve Kerr, I would ask you to fine Mike D'Antoni everytime he doesn't use that deep ass bench and please stop giving Portland stuff for free.

So I was thinking about BAD CONTRACTS in the NBA. After much thought, would the correct answer be for fewest bang for the most buck be......

For the year? I had a feeling this guy was going to be an injury concern. Here's a full article:

Portland Trail Blazers center Greg Oden, the No. 1 pick in the 2007 NBA draft, will miss the 2007-08 season after undergoing microfracture surgery Thursday, two league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

Oden, a 7-footer from Ohio State, was found to have torn cartilage during exploratory surgery on his right knee and was operated on by team doctor Don Roberts in Vancouver, Wash. Most microfracture surgeries require eight months to a year for recovery.

"Greg had an arthroscopy and a microfracture surgery today," Roberts said in a Blazers statement. "He was found to have articular cartilage damage in his right knee. The area of injury was not large and we were able to treat it with microfracture, which stimulates the growth of cartilage.

"There are things about this that are positive for Greg. First of all, he is young. The area where the damage was is small and the rest of his knee looked normal. All those are good signs for a complete recovery."

Oden had complained of soreness in his right knee, and an MRI that showed possible cartilage damage prompted the Blazers to schedule the exploratory surgery.

The season-ending injury is the latest in a string of health issues for Oden. His summer league debut was cut short after his tonsils were removed, and he missed several games of his freshman season at Ohio State while recovering from surgery to repair torn ligaments in his right wrist

In pre-draft physicals, there were several parts of his body, including his knees, that drew red-flag warnings and caused many NBA teams to wonder about his long-term durability.

"Certainly this is a setback, but our future is still incredibly bright," Portland general manager Kevin Pritchard said in a statement. "Is it disappointing? Yes. However, this is a great core of talent and players of strong character and will continue to be."

Well, I know I will probably be talking to myself about this, but this has been one hell of a WNBA championship series. Damn good finish tonight, Cheryl Ford looks like she got hurt pretty badly so she might not play, Caddie Pondexter was great as was Deanna Nolan.

I am expecting one hell of a final game.

...

Yep....talking to myself.

I saw the last 2 quarters. I'm rooting for Phoenix because I like Taurasi. With Ford out, Phoenix might become the first team to win the title on the road.
