ChrisMWaters Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 I remember NEARLY throwing controllers on the following: CastleVania III (when it first came out, I was young at the time) Super Mario Sunshine (the Pachinko machine) ...that's all I can remember off the top of my head.
NoCalMike Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 Quite a few times via M. Bison. Marble Madness, because you would see the time running down and try to get stupid and take shortcuts and the ball would fall over the edge....
Guest Princess Leena Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 Super Swing Golf has made me fling the Wiimote a few times already. Damn Tecmo and their sadistic ways.
migoli Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 I remember my mom taking Mega Man 2 ,i think it was, because i couldnt beat some stuff because i was crying...... And i remember trying to bend a 64 controller because i couldnt win a cage match a SummerSlam in Wrestlemania 2000 And here is a question for people, have you ever hurt yourself playing game? I got a mean cut on my thumb from just rubbing my thumb on the SNES controller playing QB Club in some contest where you had to press A and B real fast
Youth N Asia Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 Super Punch Out is a game I can beat to shit without any trouble. I hadn't played it in 3 or 4 years and I was able to sweep the game easy. I nearly tossed a controller over Street Fighter again. Fucking...T-Hawk?
The Niggardly King Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 On one of the old Tecmo Football games for the Super Nintendo... I always coached the Eagles, and we would always end up getting our ass handed to us by Steve Fucking Young and the 49ers in the playoffs.
ChrisMWaters Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 On one of the old Tecmo Football games for the Super Nintendo... I always coached the Eagles, and we would always end up getting our ass handed to us by Steve Fucking Young and the 49ers in the playoffs. So the game was set for realism then. And yes, I live near Philly, so I can get away with saying that.
Black Lushus Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 how can you be frustrated with Contra? 30 Lives Code man!
DrVenkman PhD Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 This guy here... I did not like this guy.
AndrewTS Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 This guy here... I did not like this guy. Countering the Magic Punch is the key. Tap down to block about every half-second. As long as you can at least successfully block the last few punches, he gets dizzy and has to take a breather--score a direct punch to the face immediately when he's stopped spinning to score an instant knockdown. Also, when he's about to punch you in the face and the jewel flashes, hit him in the face to earn a super punch.
DrVenkman PhD Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 That information would have been handy in 1989, though I suppose I'll play that game in the future on the Wii.
AndrewTS Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 I assumed so, and it was mentioned in the original topic that people could drop hints and stuff.
Conspiracy_Victim Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 The US missions on Call of Duty 2 on Veteran status. the German's turned into sharpshooters and headshot me constantly.
DrVenkman PhD Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 For the record, the last thing I said was not meant to be read in a sarcastic tone, but a statement of fact (that information really would have been helpful in 1989!). I always find it odd to see someone totally destroy a game in a speed-run that I sucked at when I was a kid (ex. Castlevania 2).
Prime Time Andrew Doyle Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 Madden sometimes draws me into a rage. I broke 04 after playing it once when I grabbed it hard out of the PS2 and it got a crack in it. I have also broken 1 controller by sort of crushing it by grabbing it real hard and pushing inwards and then spiking it into the floor.
Black Lushus Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 Double Dragon 2 on the NES, two sections: -The part where you have to climb to the top of a giant tractor. You have to jump around several moving conveyors/tracks while dodging exhaust blowing out of different spots until you got to the top of the tractor, drawing out the level boss. -in the last level, there is a room with 5 or 6 different moving conveyors over a bed of spikes that you had to jump through to reach the top of the room...hitting the spikes meant instant death.
Special K Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 For some reason I was really good at Double Dragon II. I could beat it every time. DOuble Dragon I had nasty-ass last level, tho. Really, more games should have had passwords back then.
Conspiracy_Victim Posted January 27, 2007 Report Posted January 27, 2007 Double Dragon 2 was fairly easy for me once I learned how to do the jumping knee (or elbow, never really did figure it out). That move would send most opponents flying across the screen and would work on multiple enemies. A judicious use of that move got me through that game.
Black Lushus Posted January 27, 2007 Report Posted January 27, 2007 oh the game wasn't hard, jumping could just be a bitch.
luke-o Posted January 27, 2007 Report Posted January 27, 2007 King of Fighters 2001 had me kicking and screaming at work today. Fuckin Zero, or whatever his name is. With his gay cloak swinging move.
DrVenkman PhD Posted January 28, 2007 Report Posted January 28, 2007 This shouldn't really count, but when I was 5 or so I had to take video game timeouts for becoming too angry at Frogger on the Intellivision.
Lightning Flik Posted January 28, 2007 Report Posted January 28, 2007 I so can not be the only person to think Hoshigami is the God of frustrating games. There hasta be others who've played it.
Special K Posted January 28, 2007 Report Posted January 28, 2007 Is that the one designed by yoshitaka Amano?
Black Lushus Posted January 28, 2007 Report Posted January 28, 2007 I remember NEARLY throwing controllers on the following: CastleVania III (when it first came out, I was young at the time) the level I really REALLY hated was the one where you have to climb up the castle on the falling blocks...had to follow that certain pattern and use them like stairs, then the next part is travelling up sets of stairs (and of course you can't jump while you're on stairs) battling those fucking Medusa heads and birds, with the final section being THREE bosses in a row...not one boss, THREE bosses....and of course, there are no health powerups at all to be had.
Angelus Posted January 28, 2007 Report Posted January 28, 2007 I still have nightmare about this guy, i have NEVER beat him. It's impossible, I have tried everything. Even Last year I've downloaded the game on my PC, still impossible 15 years after. And I had thrown out by the window a copy of Pro Evolution Soccer 5 after Chelsea beat me at the latest minute of a game.
Lightning Flik Posted January 28, 2007 Report Posted January 28, 2007 Is that the one designed by yoshitaka Amano? Hoshigami in a nut shell and I think taht's a yes to your question. All I remember is asking myself why the fuck I bothered wasting my time on this game.
Jericholic82 Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 san andreas, agreed on the flight school stuff. plus the final mission since its so long, I took forever to beat it, cuz I kept messing up at the part where sweet tries to jump into your car. the zero missions with the mini plane. Vice City, the mission for the porn studio, where you have to fly the plane and drop the flyers , I almost broke my ps2 controller (infact I think thats why the d pad on it is so messed up) The sopranos road to respect, the controls are so flawd its ridicoulous. and if two enemies gang up on you, youre toast, you can never get up alot of missions in the simpsons hit and run, especially the races. trying to win tag matches in the current sd series on ps2 especially the last 3 years or so old school Level 8-4 of SMB almost Always get killed by the hammer thrower before King Koopa Adams Family for NES the original ninja Turtles game for the nes. rocky and bullwinkle for the genesis, I never got past the 3rd (I think) level trying to beat the undertaker at wrestlemania in wm 2000 for n64, 15 finishers and hes still going
foleyfanforever88 Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 Trying to beat Benoit, I believe, in a cage match in Day of Reckoning drove me crazy..I've tried it probably 25 times and have never been able to get the win.
Guest Princess Leena Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 DOR2 is giving me some fits... My Khali character has no chance of winning cage matches to move on in story mode because his stamina runs out before he can climb out.
The Man in Blak Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 I beat Super Punch-Out!! when I was 14 and I'm not sure how since I wasn't that good at it. Assuming Hoy is the man with the cane, he was always one of my most hated opponents, although for the longest time the kickboxer in the 2nd circuit was my downfall. I can't remember the details (but maybe someone will), but there was some insane handicap match in the first Def Jam game that I always lost and got really, really angry at. I think I came here and started a thread about how much I hated the game. Someone else said "stop sucking at it", and with that advice I beat the stage. Yup. It's cane dude. Odd that you "weren't that good at it." I've managed to make nearly everyone else my bitch, especially with time attack practice. I can even counter the Bull Charge on both MTPO and SPO (left body punch right on the 3rd hop for the instant knockdown). Hoy Quarlow was a nightmare in Super Punch-Out because he really didn't offer much in the way of discernable attack patterns - he'd just sidestep or parry seemingly any attack that you made and then knock your head off with that cane. That fight is more about pure reaction than pattern recognition, which is essentially the opposite of every other fight in the game. Hate fighting that guy. I've never thrown a controller, but I've definitely caught myself, in the past, launching expletives and other assorted sentence enhancers at the TV whenever I: 1. Fight the Grim Reaper in the original Castlevania. 2. Play Ninja Gaiden II. Any stage past the first one, it really doesn't matter.
