randomguy Posted January 27, 2007 Report Posted January 27, 2007 So apparently KMFDM is releasing a bunch of older albums remastered. I believe there are a couple out already and Angst is up next. (Or maybe was just released) This would be a good time to try some KMFDM if you haven't. (I would probably start with Nihil) Or if you are familiar with KMFDM, you can help spread the love. I'm more of a metal guy than industrial/electronica/dance (whatever the fuck KMFDM is, I see them referred to as dance but IMO that is not really accurate at all) but I love me some KMFDM. For one thing I find it impossible not to smile at some of their lyrics.
Gary Floyd Posted January 27, 2007 Report Posted January 27, 2007 Always dug KMFDM. Xtort is my favorite album of theirs. I'll definately be getting the remastered versions of Money, Nihl, and Symbols when those come out.
Henry Spencer Posted January 28, 2007 Report Posted January 28, 2007 My only exposure to KMFDM came in the form of Beavis & Butthead, and that one song they did with Gibby Haynes.
randomguy Posted January 28, 2007 Author Report Posted January 28, 2007 You should really look into them then. KMFDM forward is the ultimate sound. (And a message from Satan if you turn it around)
Black Lushus Posted January 28, 2007 Report Posted January 28, 2007 they're pretty good, the little i've heard, Nihil and Symbols.
Henry Spencer Posted January 28, 2007 Report Posted January 28, 2007 I've been meaning to seek them out. gary floyd, you say Xtort is their best album, but is it a good place to start? I think the above mentioned Gibby Haynes collaboration is actually Ministry, not KMFDM, now that I think about it. My bad.
randomguy Posted January 28, 2007 Author Report Posted January 28, 2007 I would probably start with Nihil. Nihil, Angst and Xtort are pretty similar in sound but I think Nihil has the widest range of music on it. Some crazy kind of funny songs, some horns, some more industrial Ministry-style tracks, etc. It covers the gamut of the Angst Nihil Xtort er pretty well. I'm looking forward to a remaster of Xtort. Nihil is mixed well but the volume levels on Xtort are low and the mix is very thin in general. I always have to turn my iPod up when it comes on.
Special K Posted January 28, 2007 Report Posted January 28, 2007 KMFDM is fun if you're in the mood. Just that. However, they do some KILLER remixes.

Guest "Go, Mordecai!" Posted January 28, 2007 Report Posted January 28, 2007 Lovey, would this band be my kind of stuff?
Red Baron Posted January 28, 2007 Report Posted January 28, 2007 Definitly check them out. I'd say they are one of, if not the best industrial groups out there. I also love their remix of Holy Wars from Megadeth.
Guest Legalise Drugs and Murder Posted January 28, 2007 Report Posted January 28, 2007 Lovey, would this band be my kind of stuff? Probably not. Fast dance beats, mixing, sampling, and catchy metal riffs.
RHR Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 Good band. They hang out at the bar I hang out at when they are back off tour. Jules is funny as shit, cause you can barely understand him.
Man Who Sold The World Posted January 30, 2007 Report Posted January 30, 2007 I've only heard a few songs, but they seem enjoyable. They have a song I believe I heard at a friends house, "Power" I think, and it was pretty good IIRC.
EricMM Posted January 30, 2007 Report Posted January 30, 2007 KMFDM is a drug against war. Juke Joint Jezebel is my jam!!!
Special K Posted January 31, 2007 Report Posted January 31, 2007 Juke Joint Jezebel is pretty keen. Shoulda been a wrestler's entrance theme.
razazteca Posted January 31, 2007 Report Posted January 31, 2007 Me likey the female vocals in the MDFMK songs.
Man Who Sold The World Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 KMFDM is a drug against war. Juke Joint Jezebel is my jam!!! I haven't seen the movie in awhile, but didn't they play that song in Bad Boys? I remember Martin Lawrence getting tossed around a bathroom while they played this, but I could be wrong.
dubq Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 Me likey the female vocals in the MDFMK songs. I think the saying was "KMFDM, doin' it again. MDFMK? Please, just go away."
swan Posted February 2, 2007 Report Posted February 2, 2007 Funny, I just picked up the latest EP "Ruck Zuck" this past weekend. I must have 30 various albums, extended singles, and EP's. I still have the Sucks T-shirt in a box somewhere. I saw them live several times at the Metro back when they were based in Chicago back in the Wax Trax/TVT days.

I think your thinking of "Jesus Built My Hotrod" by Ministry w/ Gibby Haynes on lead vocals. Now thats another great album, "Psalm 69". You had "Hotrod", "Just One Fix", "NWO", etc, etc....
