This week in the NBA

Recommended Posts

I was going to post "You have no idea whats about to happen, do you?" But I decided against it.

But Amare has this mean streak and if you do him like that he is coming for you. And well...he came right at Jermaine. He can play D when he wants to, and he just suddenly felt like it.

Well, despite us SHOCKINGLY snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, not a shabby performance tonight, especially considering Jamaal Tinsley didn't play. I don't know why the hell Ike Diogu didn't get in there more, he looked nice in his limited time.

JO's line: 28/13/7/6 blocks.

EDIT: I should also point out that when I made the above post, Amare had 8 points on 3-10 shooting. He finished 8-22, with one long jumper, and the rest put-backs and garbage buckets. If you just look at his line, then yeah, he was pretty good, but Jermaine really played him well tonight.

Ike Diagu owns the suns. Undersized monster. If he is on your team play him. That is carlise's mess up there.

But I will say this. That mean streak that Steve Nash and Amare have now is what is going to bring them a championship(hopefully). When ever a team goes up big or makes a run or the crowd gets in it, one of them does something that basically says "Shut up". Jordan was the greatest at that.

You never know with the Suns, but I have a really hard time seeing Dallas knocked off this year. I haven't seen a team roll like this since, dare I say, the '96 Bulls.

Utah/LA: It would be a really good series, but I'd most likely pick the Lakers. I just think the Jazz need some experience first. Of course, I (correctly) picked the Suns against Dallas under similar circumstances a couple years ago, so maybe I'm not the best person to consult on this one.

As for Livingston, I'd say it would be wise to sit out all of next season, as well, just because of what happened to Amare when he tried to come back last year. He was able to return to form, of course, but IIRC he ended up messing up his other good knee and needing surgery on it, as well.

Does anyone see San Antonio sneaking in there and fucking up everyone one's hope for a Dallas vs. Phoenix Western Conference final? They always seem to pull something together come playoff time, and I'm worried.

I wouldn't be surprised to see San Antonio fall off the face of the earth and get creamed in the 1st or 2nd round.

Oh come on. Any combination of those three is going to be a blast.

Eh, I got an irrational hate for the Spurs. I'll take any team in the land not named the Spurs, and I'll be happy as long as the games are awesome.

I agree with Mugsy. I can't stand the Spurs, although watching Phoenix play them would be a fresh matchup, which would be nice since we've seen San Antonio vs. just about everybody before in the playoffs. I can't stand the thought of Dallas-San Antonio rd. 298732131

Avery Johnson vs Pops = ratings people just think of all of the interviews that Avery can have on all of the ESPN talk shows the possiblities of Bill Walton or Charles Barkley interviewing Avery it would be the greatest conservation of jibberish in the history of sports television! The whole teacher vs student angle is what the playoffs needs and all of sports radio and tv will eat it up, again. The only thing the Spurs should fear is a long 7 game series in the first round of the playoffs outside of that they are a lock for the Western Conference Finals.

What? You must really hate the Spurs and the Mavs for their "rivalry" to seem that long. Dallas and San Antonio have only met in the playoffs twice this decade if I'm not mistaken. Last year obviously, and once in the Don Nelson era (the 03 WCF, I think). And San Antonio beat Phoenix in the 05 WCF.

I have heard numerous people say that the injury happened because he was so skinney. Yeah. He should have hit the weight room and bulked up his ligaments.

Honestly though this might not be THAT bad of injury depending on how bad the tears were. Like if he has a bunch of partials he might be okay. If those are complete tears on ALL his knee ligiments...ugh.

He tore everything. It might not be that bad, though... Carson Palmer basically had the same amount of destruction, and returned to play in 8 months. McGahee was cleared to play in 10 months, but the Bills didn't want to risk it. As long as Shaun didn't fuck up nerves or arteries or anything, he'll likely be physically able to play next year. Of course, it's different with basketball, and overcoming the physical and mental problems to be able to properly jump and constantly run again.

I agree that having underdeveloped legs could have contributed to this. Knee injuries like that happen more often with women's hoops. It looked like his knee buckled when he jumped.

The main difference between Carson, Willis and Livingston is neither Palmer or McGahee have to jump umpteen times per game to make a living. Livingston is more likely to reinjure himself simply because he'll be repeating that motion while both football guys were hit directly on the knee by someone trying to take them down. With as skinny as he is, I don't think he can develop his upper body to the point where he can take some more hits to counter the fact that his vertical leap and lateral quickness will both likely suffer. The guy hasn't finished a full season yet and has had some pretty bad injuries, I just wouldn't trust him not to be the next Grant Hill in that regard.

No, he dislocated his knee cap before, which, while it isn't a little injury, isn't the same as tearing 3 tendons in your knee and dislocating it.

The Celtics beat the wildly inconsistent Knicks and the McGrady-less Rockets. If you catch the Knicks on a bad day, you're hard-pressed to not win both of those games. I don't think it's a sign their season is turning around.

And man, the Rockets got hammered by the Raptors last night. Not that I'm too worried, since Houston's so much farther ahead of where I thought they'd be at this point without Yao. And he's due back in 3 weeks or so. Plus the Raptors are pretty good right now.

I hope so, though as it stands it would be a semi-final matchup. Of course, that opens the door for some really weird ECF like Raptors/Wizards or something.

I'd rather not see Pistons/Heat as the top match for the third year in a row. Please opt for the surgery, Dwyane. Any team shaking up the boring east is fine by me.

the hawks and hornets played a great game last night.

Josh smith has become the top player that I would watch on any night in the NBA. THere is just a certain awe to his game that is amazing. Last night he had 14 points, 9 rebounds 9 assist and 5 blocks officially(he had at least 2 more unless they were just really really really bad shots). He is one of the guys that He could go the entire game without scoring a point and he would still be a joy to watch for me. And honestly, he would get my vote for defensive player of the year.

My all just watch them team-

PG- Steve Nash

SG- Kobe Bryant

SF- Josh Smith

PF - David Lee

C - Dwight Howard

With Amare Stoudimire, CHris Paul and a motivated Ak-47 coming off the bench.
