Ripper 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2007 I always thought Howard was a power forward? He doesn't play one for the magic so he is a center.
Fökai 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2007 Man, I hope the media doesn't give McGrady any shit for being concerned about playing in New Orleans next year at the All-Star Game. Jason Whitlock did a really great article on the anarchy in Vegas last month for ASG Weekend, and I don't see much of a solution that the NBA can provide to next year's potential meltdown. Guest Report post Posted March 1, 2007 There was anarchy in Vegas because it was IN VEGAS. That place is crazy all the time, and an all-star game probably didn't even make a dent in the way the city works.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2007 New Orleans is worse than Vegas. Especially with the police force not being up to snuff right now. I don't blame Tracey in the slightest.
MFer 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2007 BTW, the Rockets come into N.O. on the 25th on ABC. I'm not an expert on the city, but don't they host Mardi Gras, Sugar Bowls, and Super Bowls, things much bigger than the NBA All-Star game? As far as I know, not too many (if any) people have gotten killed during those events. I don't see what T-Mac's bitching about.
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2007 I remember hearing of a stabbing death and some shootings at the most recent Mardi Gras, actually. The issue is, the city is still recovering from the hurricanes and, as Ripper said, the police force is depleted. I don't think it would be a concern if this was prior to the hurricanes. Open the Muggy Gate 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2007 shit, the whole south is getting hit with a wave of storms. It's been pretty bad up and down.
Guest Report post Posted March 2, 2007 New Orleans is worse than Vegas. Especially with the police force not being up to snuff right now. I don't blame Tracey in the slightest. No way. You can't walk down the strip in Vegas before a whore propositions you, and no less to double team her with your own father. I find it hard to believe that anywhere in this country is crazier than that place. I still understand what T-Mac is saying, but to have not said it before going to Vegas is hypocritical. Ripper 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2007 At one point the murder rate in New Orleans was like 30 times the national average. So whores won't proposition you, crackheads will beat you to death. Don't let Mardi Gras fool you. That city was horrible. I personally can't speak for it since the Hurricanes, but I refuse to believe that more desperation and less cops have made it better. Guest Report post Posted March 2, 2007 I know, but I'm saying that they are both unsafe places. If he doesn't want to go to New Orleans, he shouldn't have gone to Vegas.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2007 But like it or not, stats say that Vegas is WAY safer than New Orleans. Plus, once again, Las Vegas hasn't had its police force torn apart recently. They were all inside during allstar weekend so the streets were a free for all, but they were there. And I guarentee you that most of the NBA stars stayed the hell inside too. Just John 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2007 Good win by the Rockets tonight in Denver to bounce back from those tough home losses. T-Mac was on fire in the second quarter, and 3-pt shooting was killer, somewhere around 50%. Dikembe becomes the first player over 40 to have a 20-rebound game. The bench was solid as well. Tough back-to-back against the Spurs, but they had to play tonight too, so it's not that much of a mismatch. And Yao is coming back in a week or so. Best news I heard today. Broward83 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2007 Tracy's already been ripped by some ESPN guys. On ATH the other day, pretty much everyone ripped into him for not wanting to go Naw'lins, saying he was being selfish and that if he's so worried about everything he should just hire personal security / bodyguards to protect him. Also saying that the NBA does so much for him that when the NBA asks for just one thing to help out with the league, he shouldn't be a selfish, snobby prick and just go to Naw'lins. Granted, 30mins prior on JRiB, the panel backed McGrady.. so yeah.
Failed Bridge 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2007 just when you think the Celts couldn't further piss off their fans... We accept they're not competitive this season and start to salivate over getting one of the top 2 picks, and then what do they do? String together 3 wins in a row. Seriously, give Pierce the rest of the season off.
naiwf 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2007 Even if the Celtics tank they'd likely end up getting the # 3 (ping pong balls be damned again) and miss both Durant and Oden.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted March 4, 2007 At halftime here, they showed this paid program Fucking Hilarious. James Jones sounding like a 70s pimp made it. After a tough loss to the Wizards last night, in which Mike Woodson showed how incredibly fucking worthless as a coach he is and wasting Josh Smiths 24-13-7block performance, I can't see the Hawks/Knicks game making this the first Hawks game I haven't seen this year.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted March 4, 2007 Well I found somewhere to watch the game and I have to say this again. Sports writers always say that the Hawks are losing because they are young or because Billy Knight should have taken chris paul or some other crap and say that Mike Woodson might have a bad record but its understandable. No. It isn't. Mikw Woodson is the worst fucking coach I have seen in my life. Yeah. I am saying I have never seen a NBA coach more inept than Mike woodson. The same guy that once admitted to forgetting to put Josh Smith back in the game in the second half, the same guy that when asked why does he seem to pull players when they have it going (last night, Josh smith scored 8 straight points, had 4 rebounds and 2 blocks in a row, then Washington called a timeout to slow him down and Woodson took him out during the timeout) said that he pulls players at certain minutes in the game if they have it going or not. He has cost them at least 10 games this year. Yes, I said 10. His bench rotations make no sense, his bench players are clearly outplaying some vet starters(namely lowrenzen Wright, Speedy Claxton and Tyronne Lue), but get constant DNP's, He found a line up that won the team 5 out of 8 games and gave them a winning record in Jan. That was playing Josh Childress at the point in the 4th quarter. You know what happend to that lineup after the 5th win? Never used it again. Said he likes to have a legit point guard on the floor. Yet they lose when they do it. I know noone here actually cares this much about the Hawks, but its like watching Larry Brown coach the Knicks last year, only Mike has no ulterior motive. He just fucking sucks.
Fuzzy Dunlop 0 Report post Posted March 4, 2007 Didn't I hear somehwere that even David Stern was having second thoughts about an All-Star game in New Orleans?

Kurt Angle Mark 0 Report post Posted March 4, 2007 Clippers hold the Pacers to 64 points, a new Clipper record Clippers go up to number 7 and trail the Lakers(that might lose Odom for the season) by 4, so who knows. Too bad the Spurs will probably spank us on Monday especially if Cassell is still out
Just John 0 Report post Posted March 4, 2007 Well, the Rockets didn't even put up a fight against the Spurs, but it helps keep the seeding the way I want it for the playoffs with the 3-4-5 spots going Spurs-Jazz-Rockets.
Guest Report post Posted March 4, 2007 trail the Lakers(that might lose Odom for the season) He said he will "gut it out". I actually prefer it this way, a pissed off Odom is better than the Odom that doesn't play with too much passion. Besides, I think he will use his distributing abilities a lot better.
