starvenger Posted March 13, 2007 Report Posted March 13, 2007 Here's a posting of the press release on IP And here's a column featuring LT's favourite blogging punching bag, Reverend Sick There's good/bad news though - it's on tape delay, since a 9/10 pm GMT start would translate to 4/5pm ET. Not exactly prime time.
Lord of The Curry Posted March 13, 2007 Report Posted March 13, 2007 Mirko Cro-Cop vs Gabriel Gonzaga Andrei Arlovski vs Fabricio Werdum Michael Bisping vs Elvis Sinosic Forrest Griffin vs Lyoto Machida These are the four main fights that are going to air on the tape delay. If time allows it they will show Assuerio Silva vs Cheick Kongo. Undercard is as follows....... Allesio Sakara vs Victor Valimiki Dennis Silver vs Jess Liaudin Terry Etim vs Matt Grice David Lee vs TBA It really, really sucks that UFC couldn't get Paul Daley to fight on this show.
Youth N Asia Posted March 13, 2007 Report Posted March 13, 2007 It's like Ultimate Fight Night, but with some of their top guys. I'll definatly be watching this one
Lei Tong Posted March 13, 2007 Report Posted March 13, 2007 It really, really sucks that UFC couldn't get Paul Daley to fight on this show. "And the winner, via tapout... (insert name of any UFC ground specialist here)!"
Lord of The Curry Posted March 13, 2007 Report Posted March 13, 2007 So put him up against a banger and you've got yourself a kick-ass fight. But that would involve countering Tongs wit so yeah.....can't have that.
Lei Tong Posted March 14, 2007 Report Posted March 14, 2007 Very rarely can you put two "bangers" (MMA code for "stand-up fighter with shitty ground game") against each others and garauntee a war. The upcoming Marcus Davis vs. Pete Spratt match-up is a perfect example, as Joe Silva fully expects a boxer vs. kickboxer slugfest, forgetting that Davis trains with Miletich, recently tapped out Forrest Petz and dominated Shonie Carter on the mat.
RavishingRickRudo Posted March 14, 2007 Report Posted March 14, 2007 Scott Smith vs. Patrick Cote would say otherwise. Oh wait. It wouldn't. Huggy.
Lt. Al Giardello Posted March 14, 2007 Report Posted March 14, 2007 Machida is going to beat the shit out of Griffin.
starvenger Posted March 14, 2007 Author Report Posted March 14, 2007 Hey did you hear about Matt Hamill calling out Bisping?
Youth N Asia Posted March 14, 2007 Report Posted March 14, 2007 Hey did you hear about Matt Hamill calling out Bisping? I doubt anyone heard that
cameron chaos Posted March 14, 2007 Report Posted March 14, 2007 I may be going to this event. The card could be better but not bad for the first show since Brawl at the Hall. Paul Daley did himself no favours last weekend getting drunk and lashing out at his girlfriend, her friends (one of whom is still pretty messed up according to all accounts) and fellow fighter Ian Butlin. After the dispute he caused last year between Cage Rage and Cage Warriors, coupled with this incident and his contract with EXC, I don't think he'll be on a big 3 show (UFC, K-1, Pride) any time soon.
Lord of The Curry Posted March 15, 2007 Report Posted March 15, 2007 The Gods of MMA have granted Forrest Griffin a lifeline and infected him with staph in his knee, saving him an ass-beating at the hands of Lyoto. This probably means that Kongo/Silva will make air, unless they get a suitable name to replace Forrest.
starvenger Posted March 15, 2007 Author Report Posted March 15, 2007 Blessed with staph. That has to be a first.
Youth N Asia Posted March 15, 2007 Report Posted March 15, 2007 http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=news.detail&gid=4848 David Heath is fighting in Forrest's place
starvenger Posted March 16, 2007 Author Report Posted March 16, 2007 And obviously, it's not the married to Luna Vachon David Heath. And hopefully not the British MP, either.
AmericanDragon Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 Gabriel Gonzaga (243) vs Mirko Cro Cop (225) Lyoto Machida (199) vs David Heath (205) Elvis Sinosic (205) v Michael Bisping (204) Fabricio Werdum (233) vs Andrei Arlovski (238) Assuerio Silva (241) vs Cheick Kongo (229) Matt Grice (155) vs Terry Etim (154) Junior Assuncao (155) vs David Lee (155) Victor Valimaki (203) vs Alessio Sakara (204) Dennis Siver (167) v Jess Liaudin (168) Edilberto Crocota (169) vs Paul Taylor (169) I still laugh at those Franklin fans who grossly exaggerate Lyoto's size. "Franklin was fighting a heavyweight." They were the same weight and even though Lyoto was flabby, he still looked smaller than Franklin.
HollywoodSpikeJenkins Posted April 21, 2007 Report Posted April 21, 2007 When did I miss Franklin/Lyoto?
Lord of The Curry Posted April 21, 2007 Report Posted April 21, 2007 In 2003, if you were watching the Inoki Bom-Be-Ye show.
AmericanDragon Posted April 21, 2007 Report Posted April 21, 2007 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VclVdbpHiBg
KingPK Posted April 21, 2007 Report Posted April 21, 2007 This is scheduled for three hours tonight, so should we expect 5 minutes of commercials between rounds? Hopefully they just show as many fights as they can squeeze in instead of sticking with the 5 featured bouts and staggering them to fit the time.
The Niggardly King Posted April 21, 2007 Report Posted April 21, 2007 FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AmericanDragon Posted April 21, 2007 Report Posted April 21, 2007 Fuck you if you complain about spoilers.
The Niggardly King Posted April 22, 2007 Report Posted April 22, 2007 The MMADNESS will not end. And here I thought there would be no worries of Randy getting his head kicked off if Gonzaga won.
jwpeer Posted April 22, 2007 Report Posted April 22, 2007 Can't wait to see it on the show...to see how long Cro Cop is out...my lord he looks -dead- there. Nasty.
AmericanDragon Posted April 22, 2007 Report Posted April 22, 2007 Also notice his fucked up ankle in the fifth pic down on the right.
benn Posted April 22, 2007 Report Posted April 22, 2007 The angle that his knee/ankle twisted at when he just crumpled to the mat...sweet lord.
