With Hughes, our rotation looks a lot better (with Mussina coming back). If they send him down now, it would be idiotic on twenty levels. One being that he has nothing to gain off dominating AAA batters.

Not even for a certain first ballot Hall of Famer pitcher that will be making a decision about where he'll pitch by the end of this month? Do the Yankees even have a rotation spot available should Clemens, for whatever reason, decide to go back to the Bronx? Pettitte, Mussina, Wang, Hughes, Igawa...who would get Das Boot?

Im going on a self imposed no Orioles protest for a week. The team is just god awful in every respect right now and its not even funny. Im not even gonna look at the scores online or the paper, no Orioles Hangout..Id dump Tejada/Bedard from my fantasy roster if I could. I gotta find a new hat to wear for a week and a new keychain. Im gonna delete MASN from my directv guide and the recordings upcoming on my Tivo.

 

We'll see how this works. They're 11-14 now, with 6 games to play I say they're 12-19 by the time I come back..

I tried that a few seasons ago with the Lakers. You're going to have problems with finding other places to vent your anger for that week. It just made me pissed off at everyone else.

Brewers beat the Cards 12-2 and are now 17 and 9.

 

I wish I could feel better about these massacres of the Cardinals. Brewers are really looking good, though.

Clemens will not be a Yankee. He's pulling his usual play the media routine and will be in Houston by June. This bad start by the Yanks on top of the pitching problems will only help him get more coin out of Drayton McClain.

The 'Stros are only doing marginally better than the Yankees. If I were Clemens, I'd be heading up to Milwaukee in June.

according to rotoworld the A's are seeing how interested the Red Sox would be in Rich Harden. If Oakland would be content taking Wily Mo and a David Pauley type pitcher then go for it. A 2008 possible rotation of Beckett, Matsuzaka, Harden, Lester, Bucholz would be nifty.

Funny, I feel fine about it. Might as well pile up on the World Champions while they can. Hopefully they sweep this afternoon. Sheets looked great after the first couple shaky innings, so that's a great sign.

 

On Clemens...I don't get how baseball can allow a player like that to sit out 'til May or June or whatever and sign with any team he wants. It just seems so unfair, and not really in the spirit of the game. He holds up the same three teams all the time, as well.

I heard that one too. If Beane is looking to trade Harden, he's going to want Ellsbury+Bucholz at the minimum, and probable one other serviceable player. I'd stay away on that one because you know he has to be screwed up if Beane is willing to trade a cost-controlled Cy Young type pitcher.

 

It's also been suggested that he might be trying to use the Sox to get a good bid from the Yankees. I know they wouldn't give up Hughes or Tabata, so pitching problems or not, it's probably a non-story.

A little off topic, but the SNY broadcasters noticed that CitiField is being worked on today during the Mets/Marlins afternoon game. It got me to thinking that if any of next year's spate of baseball video games show CitiField being constructed in the background of Mets home day games, I'd probably buy it merely out of principle.

I know on MVP 2005, if you unlocked Riverfront Stadium, they were building the Great American Ball Park beyond the wall.

 

I do have to smile at the thought of Mets broadcasters "noticing" a ballpark being erected. "Well, I'll be darned! Our team is building a big fuckin' stadium in the parking lot! Lookit that!"

Chris Capuano pitched three scoreless innings but had to leave with a bruised calf. Carlos Villanueva will now end up with his second game so far pitching more in relief than the starter.

Apparently the team is taking it tough because they're losing-thus-grieving (but if they won they'd have done it in his honor; retroactively assigning emotions to games is fun) but I wonder how the white-bread mid-American dullards that form that creepy subsection of Cardinal Nation are handling this. I bet there are flowers, teddy bears, and popsicle-stick crosses at the site where he rear-ended a truck because he was drunk, high, and texting a stripper.

I think the fact that the Cards have really fallen off had more to do with the sweep than the death of Hancock. They really aren't good this year no matter how much the simpleminded Espn-types want to believe they are simply because of their recent successes.

I'm not a Booyah simpleton, but you can't blame people for not counting them out when they have Pujols, Edmonds, Rolen, and the La Russa-Duncan duo.
