Guest George's Box Posted May 14, 2007 Report Posted May 14, 2007 I've really come to appreciate the Mats' Let It Be recently.
Sideburnious Posted May 14, 2007 Report Posted May 14, 2007 The beatles. I'm being biased due to Billy Preston helping on the album.
Henry Spencer Posted May 14, 2007 Report Posted May 14, 2007 I swear to god this exact thread has been made before. Am I going crazy? I voted The Replacements.
Guest George's Box Posted May 14, 2007 Report Posted May 14, 2007 You know, Coat, I thought the same thing too.
Gary Floyd Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 You know, Coat, I thought the same thing too. Let it Be vs. Let it Bleed. Not the same exact thread, but still...
Your Paragon of Virtue Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 Surprised at the results, I voted for the Replacements also.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted May 15, 2007 Author Report Posted May 15, 2007 Are the Beatles winning because more people here are familiar with them, or that they think that pile of shit album is actually good?
The Man in Blak Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 I'm probably as big a Beatles fan as you'll find on this board and I voted for the Replacements here.
Murmuring Beast Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 Are the Beatles winning because more people here are familiar with them, or that they think that pile of shit album is actually good? They're doing it to spite you.
Guest George's Box Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 Are the Beatles winning because more people here are familiar with them, or that they think that pile of shit album is actually good? I like how "Across The Universe" sounds (shame about the Sanskrit crap for lyrics), but that's my least favorite of the late-period Beatles albums.

They're doing it to spite you. Perhaps they resented that I told them the correct answer in the first post. As for the Beatles album, "Two of Us" is good, but the rest is passably slight to overproduced dreck. The worst thing I can say about the Replacements album is "Tommy Gets His Tonsils Out" and "Gary's Got a Boner" are two sides of the same juvenile, if fun, coin.
Dobbs 3K Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 The Beatles' Let It Be is overrated. Just because they're the Beatles, doesn't mean everything they did was god-like. It pisses me off every time I see a picture of John Lennon, with some article written in hushed tones about what a great song writer he was. Enough already.

This is true, and even those songs are great little punk numbers.

Richard Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 You know, Coat, I thought the same thing too. Let it Be vs. Let it Bleed. Not the same exact thread, but still... There was also a Let it Be vs. Tim thread.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted May 15, 2007 Author Report Posted May 15, 2007 I don't remember that. I do remember people here debating the merits of Tim vs. Pleased to Meet Me re: best Replacements album, while no one was mentioning Let It Be.
Gary Floyd Posted May 16, 2007 Report Posted May 16, 2007 I'm starting to think that something bad happened to Inc when he listened to that Beatles album.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted May 16, 2007 Author Report Posted May 16, 2007 Guys, had the Replacements named the album Revolver and I started a poll asking which was better, Revolver by the Beatles or Revolver by the Replacements, I wouldn't fault anyone for voting Beatles, though I myself would still vote for the Replacements. But they didn't name the album that and I did not start a poll about it. They named it Let It Be and it's widely considered a classic by anyone who's well-versed in rock music. The Beatles' Let It Be is generally dismissed as the worst non-Magical Mystery Tour Beatles album. And no, the Beatles at their worst is not better than other bands at their best, so don't trot out that cliched argument.
Henry Spencer Posted May 16, 2007 Report Posted May 16, 2007 I'm starting to think that something bad happened to Inc when he listened to that Beatles album. There is nothing in this thread to indicate this. You're a moron.

Angle-plex Posted May 16, 2007 Report Posted May 16, 2007 I like both. I voted for the Replacements, because the album is obviously the better of the two. I don't think it matters though because this thread wasn't made to discuss this.
AboveAverage484 Posted May 16, 2007 Report Posted May 16, 2007 Damn, I accidentally clicked the Beatles! They have a subconscious grip on my brain...
Cheech Tremendous Posted May 16, 2007 Report Posted May 16, 2007 I think the Beatles' Let It Be is okay. I've never heard anything by the Replacements. I decided not to vote.
Richard Posted May 16, 2007 Report Posted May 16, 2007 I don't remember that. I do remember people here debating the merits of Tim vs. Pleased to Meet Me re: best Replacements album, while no one was mentioning Let It Be. here you go For Cheech13: Replacements - Let It Be
PLAGIARISM! Posted May 17, 2007 Report Posted May 17, 2007 Tis the best Mats album, fo shiz, but whilst we're on the subject, I don't think Sorry Mom, Forgot to Take out the Trash gets its due generally. It's better than just garage punk.
