Ravenbomb Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 So for the first half of 2007, what would you say the best movie to come out is? Personally, I'd say it's The Lookout. I came in expecting a good movie, but this thing blew me away. It didn't get the recognition it deserved.
Insanity Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 Hot Fuzz. It's been a disappointing year so far.
AntiLeaf33 Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 There has been a lot of "That didn't really suck, but wasn't a MOTY candidate" movies so far. As for the best one, I have to say that TMNT is probably my personal favorite of the year so far.
luke-o Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 Christ, I actually can't think of any. There were 3 films i was looking forward to this year, being Spider-Man 3, Fantastic Four 2 and the simpsons movie. Spider-man 3 wasn't very good. Fantastic Four was good, but not MOTY candadate. And I haven't seen Simpsons yet. Apart from those, I can't think of any films.
Jonathon Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 Hot Fuzz and Knocked up are the most memorable ones for me.
Yuna_Firerose Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 Damn, my mind totally blanks on this one. Hard to remember what movies I viewed from this year. Hm. I'd have to go with Hannibal Rising.
Youth N Asia Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 My favorites so far have been 1. 300 2. Knocked Up 3. Smokin' Aces
Jonathon Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 Ahh, how could I forget 300? That one trumps all so far.
bob_barron Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 Grindhouse or Knocked Up. I'll post my full list later.
Edwin MacPhisto Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 Grindhouse, then Hot Fuzz, then Knocked Up, I think.
bob_barron Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 1) Knocked Up 2) Grindhouse 3) Blades of Glory 4) Zodiac 5) Breach 6) Once 7) Alpha Dog 8) Vacancy 9) Spider-Man 3 10) 300 11) Stephanie Daley 12) Fracture 13) The Lookout 14) Surf’s Up 15) Music and Lyrics 16) Black Snake Moan 17) Number 23 18 Premonition 19) TMNT 20) Catch and Release 21) Bug 22) Because I Said So 23) The Ex
King Kamala Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 Hot Fuzz and Knocked Up are my top two so far.
treble Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 Grindhouse, Knocked Up, 300, Zodiac, Hot Fuzz
AntiLeaf33 Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 The more I think of it, 300 and Knocked Up (finally sawa it last night) were another 2 awesome films so far this year
Ravenbomb Posted June 16, 2007 Author Report Posted June 16, 2007 Since I've only seen seven movies this year (shame on me), I'll just rank what I've seen 1: The Lookout 2: Grindhouse 3: Black Snake Moan 4: Hot Fuzz 5: 28 Weeks Later 6: Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters 7: Shrek the Third I haven't seen Knocked up (seeing it around mid-July), Zodiac, or 300, yet.
Brett Favre Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 I've only seen 5 movies so: 1. Grindhouse 2. Pirates 3 3. Spiderman 3 4. Fantastic Four 2 5. 300 I really didn't like 300 that much.
Lord of The Curry Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 Knocked Up, Hot Fuzz and 300 are pretty much at the top of the heap right now.
bobobrazil1984 Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 I'll go with Pirates 3. most movies I saw were "good but not great".
Yuna_Firerose Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 If I had to put a top three list, it'd be 1. Hannibal Rising 2. Blades of Glory 3. Number 23 I haven't seen Hot Fuzz all the way through yet; rather surprised that it's mentioned just about every post. It's really that great? How does it stack up against Shaun of the Dead?
Ravenbomb Posted June 16, 2007 Author Report Posted June 16, 2007 It's not as good as Shaun of the Dead, but there aren't a lot of comedies that stack up against Shaun of the Dead.
Jingus Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 And aside from bob's exhaustive list of movies, I'd be surprised if ANY of the movies mentioned here got nominated for a Best Picture oscer. Yep, that Academy sure has its finger on the pulse of the people.
