KingPK 0 Report post Posted July 7, 2007 Tuesday would also be the scheduled day for Beckett. Just sayin'. They released the rotation for the series after the ASG and Wakefield's pitching Tuesday, followed by Dice-K and Gabbard (I think). I'd like Ortiz to skip the game as well. I definitely don't need to see him wear himself out in the Derby again.

They released the rotation on the assumption that Beckett will pitch Tuesday in the ASG - I'm sure he will whether he starts or not - he would then pitch for Boston Sunday on regular rest. TheSSNintendo 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2007 Good game by Bedard. Him and Guthrie are the only two good starting pitchers right now for the O's, other than Brian Burress.
vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2007 I wish this fuckin' Mets/Astros game would hurry up and end. It's going into the 16th. Carlos Beltran made THE GREATEST CATCH IN THE HISTORY OF BASEBALL~!! with runners on first and third, 2 outs, off of a deep drive to the hill in CF by Luke Scott to prolong the madness. devo 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2007 Really cool win for the Mets tonight, particularly since both Atlanta and Philadelphia lost. Normally I'd worry about the lingering affects of a seventeen inning ballgame on a team, but since it's the second-to-last game before the All Star Break, I don't think it'll be a problem. vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2007 I dunno...Aaron Sele might not be available tomorrow. That would be a blow that would devestate the New York Metropolitans.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2007 History is in the making! With their latest loss, the Phillies now have 9,999 career losses. One more will make them the first team in professional sports to lose 10,000 games.
Longdogger_Pete 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2007 Much like Bobby Cox and his ejections, I'm not sure that's a record I'd want to be proud of. Of course, it's really inevitable for any team if it sticks around long enough.

One more will make them the first team in professional sports to lose 10,000 games. Uh...congratulations. Think they'll have some sort of ceremony with The Philly Phanatic and maybe other famous losers (Barry Horowitz, the surviving members of the '62 Mets, etc) in sports history on the field? Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2007 Looks like the Brewers are going to drop another to the Nats, but the Cubs aren't going to capitalize. Zambrano made one big mistake (a two-run shot from Bay), but was solid otherwise. Unfortunately, the Cubs apparently haven't found that lefty BP coach, cuz they're still awful against left-handed pitching. And Derrek Lee's warning track power saddens me. Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2007 Yankees win 12-0 over the Angels, going 5-2 the last 7 games after going 1-2 against Oakland to start the homestand. A-Rod finishes the half with 30 HRs, and 86 RBIs, the 2nd largest RBI total by the half in Yankee history behind Gehrig (90).
Mik 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2007 So, the blog U.S.S. Mariner wrote an open letter to the Mariners pitching coach telling them how King Felix throws way too many fastballs. He actually showed it to Felix. Who then proceeded to work in his breaking ball alot more and throw 8 innings of shutout ball. The power of the internets, ladies and gentlemen. Dandy 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2007 Not only did the Reds bullpen blow another lead, but so far there have been two separate tries to lay down a sac bunt, and both were failures to execute. It's hard being a Reds fan. Pray for pitching for me.

It's hard being a Reds fan. Pray for pitching for me. What's strange is that Weathers is pretty much the lone guy in that 'pen you could trust with a two run lead in the 9th with two outs. Edit: I'll miss Hatteberg.
