OAO Raw Thread - July 2, 2007

So, is Lashley heel now, or is just trying to get the jump on Cena for their WWE title match? I didn't see the end of RAW, but I assumed that he DIDN'T turn heel. Might need to see the video though to make sure

Maybe I shouldn't have said "heel turn", but it was definitely a heelish move. He just speared Cena out of nowhere, then left the ring. His usual demeanor was gone and he looked a lot more...not angry, but more like a bad ass type look.

I hope they don't just play it off as Lashley playing mind games or something, and actually finish the turn with him.

Ok, cause I really don't buy Lashley being a heel. I can see him doing some vicious things (roid range anyway...) but nothing that would make him a legit heel.

Lashley worked okay as heel in OVW, though thanks to Heyman's booking he got over in a poor man's Batista role with Doane playing the HHH.

Ok, I should say I can't see Lashley playing a heel as long as he is talking. If he plays a guy like Brock Lesner was when he first came in (Come in, dominate a baby face, and leave) then I can see him being a heel. The second he opens his mouth thats when it all falls apart.

Ah, Randy can finish his moniker anymore,

How good is Cody Rhodes, anyone know?

Great promo (no surprise) and average worker. Basically, he has the promo skills as his father and slightly less skilled then his brother at his age.

Quite over in OVW though. At least amongst the teenage girls.

End the Marella experiment now. Send him back to OVW.

Like he can be used some day later with that easy to remember tatoos.

I think it's apparent Kennedy isn't ready to wrestle quite yet.

But IS ready to come, get buried in a promo by Cena and job to a fucking jobber.

you call that Cena promo a KENNEDY burial? That one ranks right up there with the time he stood under the Titantron while HBK, Angle and whoever else it was were all in the ring and he managed to fire off individual lame gay jokes for each of them. That promo was about 100 steps back after he had done so well the last year and a half taking 5 steps forward.

Lashley spearing Cena is the move a face to most people over 13 years old and without a vagina.

Um......what?

left out "of" but in other words Lashley spearing cena was a good thing, unless of course you are a girl or under 13.

I think the only reason you might be able to call it one is Kennedy just stood there and took it. He allowed the lame jokes, his comebacks didn't happen over the mic and he just got made like a complete idiot the whole show. If the guy isn't ready to go, then don't send him out there in matches and let him get a few lines in.

I WAS eagerly anticipating a Kennedy/Cena feud but not after THAT exchange. I was excited to see them in the ring and I thought they would finally lay the ground work. Instead it was the Cena bad joke hour with Kennedy as the punchline. That promo exchange did nothing but hurt both of them. Cena was unfunny (not one of his jokes was chuckle and whoever wrote them needs to be fired) and Kennedy didn't say a god damn thing about it. It was stupid on all levels. That whole segment was about 1000 steps back for Kennedy and the 100 back for Cena.

The word "buried" is thrown around way too much. It was the same kind of promo that the Rock used to cut on people like Kane and Big Show, and they still stayed pretty over. Kennedy will still have plenty of heat after this.

please...you could literally hear the groans as Cena fired off lame joke after lame joke. Kennedy's truee burial wasn't until his beat the clock match. That Cena promo was shit.

I actually laughed when he imitated Kennedy's own ring intro. I thought it was amusing.

I'm not sure where they're going with Kennedy right now. I assume he's going to squash Super Crazy in a rematch next week, and then be built up as an opponent for Cena.

when he fired off MR. CAMEL TOE first, I instictively began searching for eggs, tomatoes and lettuce to toss at the TV.

I'm not calling it a burial, not that part. I'm saying he was made to look like an idiot. The match later just made it even worse cause it made him look like a moron on the mic AND in the ring. If he had accomplished something, anything last night then maybe you can walk away saying he had something going for him.

Instead Kennedy's night was

stand there and be made look like a twit to the lamest jokes in a long time

lose a match to Super frickin Crazy, who a lot of a people probably didn't even know was still on RAW

then to cap the night, sells Cena's punches like bullets to the head before rolling out of the ring.

That is a bad night. A really bad night. A burial? Not really. If they do it again next week? Oh boy.

Except when Rock done it, it was either a- funny in some way or b- not an impression of The Rock which he was unable to pull off, so at least original.

Turning Lashley is the natural next step. I've been pushing it for forever. Remember how everybody wanted Lesnar canned because he had 'no charisma' and was generic, until his heel turn. Remember the same thing with Cena? Remember the same thing with Orton? Remember the same thing with Rocky Maivia? See a pattern?

I'm not saying Lashley's going to become a star all of a sudden. But if he does have any superstar quality, turning heel is the only way it's going to come out.

I'm sick of Cena, but not as much as I am of Lashley. I really can't stand him. I hate when he shows up on the TV screen.

Cena may be over exposed and over protected, but he still pulls me into his matches. Lashley does nothing for me.

So Kennedy jobbed to Super Crazy who got the fluke win...

Does that mean Kennedy is the new Chris Masters?

Shouldn't Super Crazy get the title shot? He won his match in the shortest time.

YES HE SHOULD :P

No because he wasn't one of the eligible candidates. It was just Randy Orton, Ken Kennedy, King Booker and Bobby Lashley. Whoever won in the shortest time of the four got the title shot. It was never stated that if the opponent defeated one of the four, they'd replace that person in consideration, like the last time they did Beat the Clock.

Actually, last time I think everyone entered had a shot. That was the one with London vs. Kendrick... actually, that was in January, right? The one Kennedy won.

The only other one was the one I assume you're referring to, back in the Evolution days. Yeah, they made it pretty clear all night that it was between Kennedy, Orton, Lashley and (King) Booker. They didn't actually state it outright that I can remember, but it was clear enough to me.

Yes my apologies. I was referring to the Beat the Clock Raw that led to the NYR Elimination Chamber where Triple H regained his belt, or retained, or something, over a group that included a red-hot Batista.
