DangerousDamon 0 Report post Posted October 3, 2007 I work at Hollywood Video, so the adjacent Game Crazy just gave me a demo. The controls are really hard to get used to because they changed EVERYTHING. You have to use the right analog stick to grapple and I don't know if you can change the grapple button to the B Button. I played a hardcore match with Orton and his Super RKO is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. EDIT: The submission system is also very weird because I have no clue how my opponent breaks the hold. I guess it didn't matter though since i made Taker tap out in about 5 minutes with a double chickenwing.

I guess it didn't matter though since i made Taker tap out in about 5 minutes with a double chickenwing. The new submission system is supposed to be keyed to one of the analog sticks (they call it Struggle Submission or something like that), where your opponent and you seem to engage is some sort of contest with the analog movements to see if you can put pressure on the hold or if they can escape it. Also, has anyone seen the latest countdown on IGN featuring Cor Von/Brown? That armbar thing isn't even a submission according to their finisher list. How can you even include that move (which I kind of liked) and not have it be a submission? I know they've been doing that with the Iron Claw for years, but still... I played it a couple of times, but I changed the controller scheme to be like the older games. When I went through the control set up in the 08 demo, you only had two choices. The second one required the dpad for movement which through me off a litlte bit.

It's also just the demo, so there's still a chance you will be able to have more options to change the control sceme in the actual game. Please don't tell me Corvon's finisher is the armbar. His finishers are the standing SSP and the backdrop facebuster. Finlay has the Celtic Cross and Air Raid Siren as Finishers. Tommy Dreamer has a reanimated DDT and the dreamer Driver. Also the chair move Sabu does where he sets up the chair, runs, jumps onto the ropes then moonsaults, is in. Also under the game modes, there is 'superstar mode', 'created superstar mode' and 'gm mode' I Take NO Credit For These Pics or Overalls as I Got it off IEddict off IGN Boards.. Scroby 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2007 I pray this is only a rough draft and Yukes is still figuring out the kinks of the game. It needs work, it isn't bad, but it needs work. For those who don't know, Yukes did fuck with the control sceme yet again, here's what I noticed they did and also some other tidbits. -B Button is now used to irish whip someone, in or out of a grapple. -The LB Button is now used to Run -The Y Button is now the finisher button. -Tazz and Joey styles on commentry didn't annoy me. -The game felt really sluggish and slow. -There seems to be a lot of stuff to do in the ring, but since it's a demo, I have no clue what else I can really do other than the stuff I know about from last year. -It seems you can now reverse out of the Right stick click move. I put Randy Orton up in that move and he squirmed out of it. -Rey Mysterio wears a fetish mask (think Mad Max Thunderdome mask, I can't remember the big guys name. Sid Vicious once used it as a gimmick.) in his enterance but wears the Spiderman 3 mask in the match. -It's really to easy to take a weapon from someone, you can either hit the wrestler and they'll drop it or take it using the Right stick, block, or the irish whip button. -I had no idea if I can use a grapple weapon attack. In last year's game, if I had a weapon and tapped the right stick, my wrestler would pull a grapple move off with that weapon.....that didn't work in this game. I could just beat the crap out of him with it. I'll play more later see if i can figure things out. One question I do have is if I can climb the scaffle and jump off onto someone whose on the table in the corner of the arena like last years game. I couldn't climb the scaffle at all when I was playing the demo.

I couldn't climb the scaffle at all when I was playing the demo. Climb the scaffold with A. And evidently the weapon grapples are only for the Hardcore style, which no one in the demo has, so you can't do them. As someone who hated the demo with a passion earlier...I've grown to like, or rather, accept >_> it after having played for a while. And I think after a short while of playing, especially having the likes of Punk, Burke, Dreamer, and the other updated, and outdated wrestlers, I'll be able to have fun with this for a few months. Scroby 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2007 The game will grow on me as well, I'm just being really nit-picky with the demo because that's just how I am with wrestling games. El Psycho Diablo 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2007 You can switch control styles in the demo, just like in the last game. The old scheme is still an option. That said, the demo lacks some of the annoyances the previous games had. Since it has custom music for the 360, I'll be picking this up.
