Makin' Playlists

Recommended Posts

Pretty self-explanatory. A person suggests a theme for a playlist, and you recommend songs for that playlist.

Try to give as much information about the eventual playlist/compilation as possible to get the best results.

I'll get this party started.

I want to make sort of an indie rock dance mix. Something upbeat and something you can dance too. Doesn't necessarily have to be indie rock, but let's try to keep it as close to that as possible.

I have the first three songs:

"When Did Your Heart Go Missing" - Rooney

"I'm A Realist" - The Cribs

"Morden" - Good Shoes

I think that presents a pretty good vein to follow. Thanks in advance.

Trying to keep as close to the brief as possible:

The Rakes - 'All Too Human'

Be Your Own Pet - 'Adventure'

The Gossip - 'Standing In The Way Of Control'

Also, Art Brut - Direct Hit is brilliant.

my girlfriend has a strong bias against bob dylan, despite the fact that she has never listened to one of his albums and loves some of his songs. so i took it upon myself to make her a dylan sampler:

1. don't think twice, it's all right

2. like a rolling stone

3. one of us must know (sooner or later)

4. went to see the gypsy

5. i want you

6. absolutely sweet marie

7. one too many mornings

8. subterranean homesick blues

9. to ramona

10. father of night

11. you're gonna make me lonesome when you go

12. tangled up in blue

13. motorpsycho nitemare

14. idiot wind

15. it's all over now, baby blue (from 'live 1966')

obviously not all his best stuff, but my main goal was songs that could stand well on their own, & that were easy to listen to. i think i succeeded for the most part, but in hindsight i would've taken off "it's all over now, baby blue" and "to ramona." maybe put in "i don't believe you" instead.

This is a pretty good mix if you feel like using recreational goods whilst listening to music.

1. Slint - Breadcrumb Trail

2. Pearl Jam - Spin the Black Circle

3. Liars - Be Quiet Mt. Heart Attack!

4. The Mars Volta - Drunkship of Lanterns

5. The Beatles - Because

6. Pink Floyd - One of These Days

7. Aphex Twin - avril 14th

8. Pink Floyd - The Great Gig in the Sky

9. Princess Al's Nuclear Jamboree - Buffoon Fields

10. Queens of the Stone Age - Song for the Dead

11. Probot - Red War

12. Radiohead - There There

13. TV on the Radio - Staring at the Sun

14. Grizzly Bear - On a Neck, On a Spit

15. Sigur Ros - Takk

16. Sigur Ros - Glosoili

17. Slint - Good Morning Captain

That's a good Dylan mix up there, though I'd add A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall or It Ain't Me Babe :)
