MFer 0 Report post Posted July 28, 2007 The Cowboys O-line isn't great, but shouldn't they get a little more credit? Romo, Jones, Barber, T.O., Glenn, and Witten all had solid seasons, I would think, in part because of the O-line. They do give up too many sacks, but overall, I don't think they're as bad as they're made out to be.
BX 0 Report post Posted July 28, 2007 Eagles have a better offense, Dallas' offensive line is a sieve, Leonard Davis was mediocre in Arizona, he won't do any better in Dallas. Dallas' defense is better, Eagles front seven has some question marks (DEs staying healthy, Gocong, Trotter on his last legs) Eagles have a huge advantage in coaching. I don't like the fact that Jones put together the staff before hiring Phillips, and Garrett is very inexperienced. What's going to happen when Owens has his usual tantrum about passes going to him? First off, Leonard Davis won't be playing tackle like he did in Phoenix, he'll be at right guard, which is his more natural position. He'll be more effective in Dallas. And Jones didn't "put together the staff" before Phillips was hired. He hired Jason Garrett, but that's it. The rest of the staff was hired by Phillips, with input by Jones, obviously. Mecca 0 Report post Posted July 28, 2007 Are the Packers still offering that 1st round pick....if so they can have Larry Johnson. The Chiefs signed Will Poole today I'm sure that's a huge step in the run, note my sarcasm.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted July 29, 2007 I would love Larry Johnson! Even if he does have some miles on him. I think a first rounder next year would actually be worth it- the team as it stands right now (considering the schedule and the roster) will probably finish at least around .500 or so, and the last thing it needs is to get any younger. The Chiefs are in rebuilding mode, and Green Bay has enough salary cap room to offer LJ better money, in a multi-year deal- plus, he'd be great to have around when Favre retires and gives Rodgers some pieces to work with on offense. Anyways, the Jaguars have found their savior- THE RESURRECTION OF TIM COUCH! Sources: Jags agree to terms with Couch By Josh Peter, Yahoo! Sports July 29, 2007 Quarterback Tim Couch, the former No. 1 draft pick who has been out of the NFL for three years, on Sunday agreed to a two-year contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to his wife and other sources. Couch worked out for the Jaguars on Sunday, and after the session the team immediately offered him a two-year deal, said Couch's wife, Heather. She said he called her with the good news Sunday afternoon. "He said, 'Are you ready to move to Jacksonville?' So, yeah, he's definitely taking the deal," Heather Couch said. Couch, who turns 30 next week, did not immediately return a voice message left on his cell phone and his wife said he didn't know the terms of the contract. He will begin practicing with the team tonight, another source said. The Cleveland Browns drafted Couch with the No. 1 pick in 1999 and Couch spent five years with the team before he was released and picked up by the Green Bay Packers. He developed shoulder problems before the Packers cut him before the 2004 season and since then has undergone two shoulder surgeries, the last in July 2006. For the past year, Couch has been rehabilitating near his house in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and for the past few months he has been training with a quarterbacks coach, Darin Slack, near Orlando and overhauling his throwing mechanics. Next up: Akili Smith signs with Vikings?

MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted July 30, 2007 Im thinking about going up to Westminster to see the Ravens practice next week. Im gonna find a Mark Clayton Jersey and yell BOOMER SOONER to get attention/autograph lol..and remind him he's a 3rd year receiver so hes supposed to break out this year. He'll be the #1 reciever by the end of the year after Mason keeps falling. Im supposed to believe Rick Neuhiesel is going to improve the offense, and he probably will but it wont be anything more than the fact that McGahee being in the backfield will open things up a lot more than when they had Jamal back there. The Sun had an article today and it was saying that McGahee has brought the same type of swagger that the defense has had for several years to the offense. I have good hopes that he'll be a vast improvement over Jamal but I dont see him doing better than say, 1300 yards and 12 TD. The key though is that his presence will open up the rest of the offense.. The key to this year is whether or not they really envision Troy Smith as the future QB of the Ravens in say..2 years. Boller is history after this year and I certainly dont think Drew Olson is the future. Im really hoping that 1+ seasons working under McNair will help Smith blossom into an NFL QB and not end up a bust like everyone says he will. The telling tale of the season will be the 3 game stretch starting at the end of the November when they play at San Diego and then New England on MNF and turn around and have Indy the next Sunday Night, a freaking tough ass 3 game stretch. Up to that point I think they can go 8-2 (Bengals and Browns twice, Cardinals, Jets, 49ers, Rams, Bills and Steelers) , and after those 3 games they should be able to go 2-1 (Dolphins, Seahawks, Steelers), so how well they do in those 3 games should decide if they can win more than 10 games. If anything being at home for the MNF/SNF games give them an advantage but probably not that much. Oh, and they need to lock up Terrell Suggs to a long term deal. Worried about the Dwight Freeney deal money, but I think they'll end up giving him a better deal than what Adalius Thomas got from NE (just think about that for a second..hmm) but not as good as Freeney got. But I think they need to do whatever they have to do to keep Suggs..
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted July 30, 2007 Why don't you think Drew Olson is the future? Given the pieces that may be surrounding him at the end of this year, it's not entirely out of the question. I forgot that McGahee went to the Ravens for some reason. With him, Todd Heap, Mason, and an emerging Clayton, that Ravens offense might finally catch up to the defense for once. I say this mainly because I'm not so sure about Troy Smith. The Ravens have to watch their backs this season with the Bengals, provided they don't get into any more legal trouble.
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted July 30, 2007 Drew Olson automatically fell to #4 on the depth chart when they signed Troy Smith. I think Olson was an undrafted FA in 2006 and Troy Smith was drafted in the 5th round this year and won a Heisman.. Its funny cause Olson has #10 and Smith had to take #11. I think Troy Smith fits in better in a transition from McNair and that will probably be happening in 2009 I imagine, and he'll be the backup next year after Boller is gone. I also forgot, theres a ton of buzz on Yamon Figurs and he has blazing speed and has an easy chance to outseat BJ Sams at the return guy and possibly even pick up a WR spot. The WR spot is tough because they have a lot of talent (Mason,Clayton, Demetrius Williams plus underperforming guys like Devard Darling and Clarence Moore who could show an improvement in the opened up offense..) but with Sams coming off the injury last year, even as much as I like him, the buzz on Figurs is big and I think he'll at least take Sams job at some point in the season, if not at the very beginning. USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted July 30, 2007 Troy Smith would be a bust. I think Drew Olsen would make a safer bet to replace McNair, especially if Billick wants to finally install that Vikings-like offense he's been rumored to forever.

Calgary or Bust Bitches February 25, 2007 Posted by Jai Eugene in Urban Meyer, SEC Traditions, shart, florida gators, Quarterbacks, Gators, dumb-ass, chris leak, SEC Football. trackback (Thanks for the Email on this Steve) Toby Korrodi says thanks to Chris “Hookslide” Leak. Korrodi would have scored this year’s lowest Wonderlic Score of 12 if Leak had not Eagled the test with an 8. Somebody forgot to tell Leak that scoring lower than your jersey number doesn’t really impress NFL Scouts. Can anyone say this 3 times fast? Chris Leak Carries a Clipboard in Calgary Canada Constantly Later reports have Leak running a 4.7 40, not a 4.5 as he had bragged on the Dan Patrick Show (link here), and a 32 inch gravity based vertical leap. Reading the Football Message Boards makes me chuckle. The Gators are spinning Leak’s interview as a “joke” now. Anyone else remember when Florida lost to Auburn? The Gators were burning Leak in effigy. Calgary is looking better each day. Keep in mind that these scores are still rumors, but this is the first inkling that something is rotten in Denmark Somewhere Thomas Hollywood Henderson is smiling, Leak is rumored to have misspelled Cat even after being spotted the C and the T (thanks Kyle, that is going to leave a mark). Granted Leak’s really low score was not as low as Vince Young’s , but Chris Leak is not Vince Young either. Vince Young doesn’t have to wear lifts to almost reach 6′0. Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted August 2, 2007 I agree with King. The top 5 are perfectly fine. It starts tailing off from there, with 5-10 being rated a bit too high, and the guys in 11-20 rated a bit too low. Overall though, it's a fine list. The guys in 11-20 I'm thinking of here, by the way, are Warren Sapp, Derrick Brooks, Michael Strahan, Junior Seau, and Tony Gonzalez. The problem with them, I think, is that they're suffering from "what have you done for me lately?" syndrome, since their positions naturally decline after a certain age. Torry Holt, Dwight Freeney, Champ Bailey, and I'd even say Brian Urlacher are definitely there if they keep up their level of play, but they need some time. And I can't help but really not think of a couple guys every year who I just look at and think... Who is this guy, and if I have to ask that, why are they in the Hall of Fame? Roger Wehrli is that guy this year.
HarleyQuinn 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2007 Thoughts anyone? http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story...loffame/nfl1-10 Lost any credibility by listing WR Calvin Johnson at #40 and RB Adrian Peterson at #50. Also including guys like Reggie Bush (#34) and Vince Young (#39) is unbelievably laughable. Not shocked to see Randy Moss (#32) and TO (#36) low despite deserving to be placed much higher. As for Wehrli, he had 40 INT for St. Louis from 1969-1982 along with 2 TD. http://www.jt-sw.com/football/pro/stats.nsf = a fabulous site to look up stats on older players. I'm still disheartened that the war took Cecil Isbell He was just entering a prime in which he'd have been the one of the great QBs alongside Sammy Baugh and Sid Luckman IMO. He topped 2,000 yards in 1942 and had 24 TD. Baugh didn't top 2,000 yards until 1947 and Luckman the year after Isbell.
