mfn 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2007 Good God, people are stupid. They're not going to debut him on free television. Not to mention Cyber Sunday has reportedly been the plan all along. Stupid? Considering that both Gerwitz and Meltzer said that it's a very strong possibility to debut him on RAW to get more buys for the PPV. Excuse me for asking an honest question. I didn't know that it was frowned upon around these parts.
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2007 If I'm not mistaken, did Jericho not debut in 1999 the Raw before Summerslam that year...? EDIT: No, it was about two weeks before Summerslam

EDIT: No, it was about two weeks before Summerslam That's what I'm saying. I think it would be more logical for him to re-debut at RAW and then have him some how be involved in the PPV so people will buy. Apparently, that makes me an idiot though. Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2007 You're not going to make money if they don't directly promote Jericho for CS. A reveal at CS does no good except give those 170,000 people who ordered it a bone but nothing else. What is the point of doing it on PPV when less people will see it and no difference is made in the process?

What is the point of doing it on PPV when less people will see it and no difference is made in the process? Well, I guess this means that I can't wait for Monday then. My friends are going to be watching Heroes, so I won't be able to watch it on the big screen. Shucks. Monday might be the first time I've marked out in wrestling since RVD won the title. cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2007 I'd rather they just put Jericho on Raw rather than at the PPV. I have little interest in this PPV, never being a fan of the voting stuff on Taboo Tuesday and Cyber Sunday.
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted October 19, 2007 Where and why is a Raw writer giving away in advance that Jericho might debut on Raw? Isn't that sort of thing frowned upon in WWE? Piper got booted from Cyber Sunday for telling people at a convention he was on the ballot to be a ref!
ANKLELOCK 0 Report post Posted October 19, 2007 They'll find some way to make it obvious its Jericho, but they had Trips, Rey, and Taker Return at PPVs and Edge looks to be the same way. Jericho's return is more anticipated than those combined, so I doubt they'd have him return on free TV.

AntiLeaf33 0 Report post Posted October 19, 2007 If Jericho returns as a heel, then it makes sense to have it on RAW. How many casual fans are going to buy a PPV for the purpose of seeing a heel return? A face returning sells PPV's, not a heel.
SamoaRowe 0 Report post Posted October 19, 2007 Why would it be such a terrible thing to bring Jericho back on pay-per-view and give everyone a big surprise? One of the biggest problems they have with pay-per-views is that nothing surprising ever happens. So what if it doesn't help this particular buyrate, don't you think the buyrates would start going up if people though "Aw shit, I skipped this show and something awesome happened, I'll be sure to order next time so I don't miss anything!" I'd buy more PPVs if there was more than 1 or 2 good matches per show...NOT because "something unexpected" occurred. No, the best you'll get out of something like that is a little help feeling better knowing you just blew 40 bucks on a PPV that could potentially suck otherwise. Either way, I'm excited that he is coming back... whether it be on RAW or at the PPV.

PPVs should be held to finally see the face get ahold of the chicken shit heel or the big epic blow-off to a feud, etc. You could have a limited number of surprises, the occassional run-in to set up a new feud, debuting wrestlers and the like but I think a majority of surprises should be for the TV shows. Look at people already saying "Shit, I have to watch RAW now...". If the show had more of an element of surprise, more of a "I can't miss this" factor, maybe the ratings wouldn't suck. LivingLegendGaryColeman 0 Report post Posted October 23, 2007 I figured this was the area to put the Cyber Sunday news. WWE added a Divas Halloween Costume Contest to Cyber Sunday: The following Divas from Raw, SmackDown and ECW are expected to participate in this year's Halloween Contest: Candice, Maria, Mickie James, Melina, Jillian, Lilian Garcia, Victoria, Torrie Wilson, Michelle McCool, Kelly Kelly and Layla The contest is a time filler, but still, Kelly Kelly and Layla, but no Brooke?! That makes me angry. Brooke has a magnificent heiny and I want to make friends with it.

RedJed 0 Report post Posted October 23, 2007 I would really think that if they are going for Jericho to show up on the ppv, they would outright say it (meaning at least whoever is behind "save_us" will show up there, given the oversaturation of ppvs these days and how they are faring with the buyrates. All indications really point to next Monday by the vignettes, I think. Although I guess there is a chance to have him show up at the ppv given the similar nature in style to the vignettes and the Cyber Sunday themed look or whatever you would call it.
