WWE General Discussion - October 2007

Recommended Posts

PWI is reporting that Robert Gibson has been fired from his job as a trainer in OVW. No details were available.

I guess the Major Brothers have more pull than we thought.

Gibson letting the Punk/Atlas thing happen probably had more to do with it.

I could Jamie Noble pulling off a younger version of Buddy "Jack" Roberts.

Noble would be a good choice.

Just throwing a name out there, but Stevie Richards could play the Michael Hayes role as the mouth piece/talker.

On the subject of Noble, I'm really enjoying his work over the last month in Smackdown, his matches with Yang have been pretty cool. And despite it being a somewhat 'goofy' Angle based around Hornswoggle, I'm enjoying that as well.

Cologne, Germany - Kölnarena

William Regal opened the show. He announced Triple H vs. Umaga in a Street Fight and a WWE Championship Match: Randy Orton vs. Jeff Hardy.

Hardcore Holly defeated Carlito with a roll up. Match wasn't good. "Y2J" chants during the bout. After the match, Carlito insults the fans.

WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch © defeated Paul London & Brian Kendrick via Sitdown Powerbomb. Good house show match and the fans were into it.

"Hacksaw" Jim Duggan defeated Val Venis via Three Point Stance Clothesline. Boring match.

Snitsky defeated Super Crazy with the Pumphandle Slam. Crowd was dead for this one.

Mr. Kennedy defeated Cody Rhodes. Kennedy was over big time. Another "Y2J" Chant.

Balls Mahoney & Tommy Dreamer defeated The Miz & Elijah Burke via Small Package. Miz attacks Mahoney afterwards.

WOMENS CHAMPIONSHIP

Beth Phoenix © defeated Candice Michelle with the Fisherman/Cradle Suplex

STREET FIGHT

Triple H defeated Umaga via Pedigree. Best match so far. They used the ring steps, a chair, a microphone and a trash can. Huge pops for The Game.

WWE CHAMPIONSHIP

Randy Orton © defeated Jeff Hardy with a second RKO. The first one was an botched. "Let's go Hardy vs. Let's go Orton" Chants.

Overall a bad show.

Krissy Vaine and Ryan O'Reilly discuss their decision to leave WWE in an interview with Slam Wrestling.

Difficult choices come everyday, but none was more difficult for Krissy Vaine and Ryan O'Reilly then when they asked for their release from their WWE contract earlier this week.

The choice automatically brought up questions. Bloggers and posters on message boards called the two "morons" and their decision "stupid." Others began to speculate the reason behind them quitting what most in the industry would consider a dream job.

"There was a lot leading up to our decision," Vaine told SLAM! Wrestling in an exclusive interview. "I'm just a small-town girl with small-town values. I had my priorities messed up in the past. Being away from home (in Greensboro, N.C.) so long and meeting Ryan (O'Reilly) really helped me realize what was important to me."

Vaine and O'Reilly began dating in 2006.

Vaine noted some family health problems as being an awakening for her. "I could hear my mother's heart breaking every time we spoke on the phone. I couldn't bear the thought that something may happen to someone while I was away and couldn't get home."

The decision to ask for her release may have come before a two-week tour of Europe, which she was supposed to attend.

Sadly, Vaine and O'Reilly have a bond brought forth by tragedy. O'Reilly told SLAM! Wrestling about his niece and cousin recently dying. He began to evaluate his life. "Just recently my father had a stroke," O'Reilly said, "and I began to really think about my family.

"A few men in my life told me that they are a strong believer that family comes first and that family values are very important."

O'Reilly recalled a story about a good friend, whom he considers like family, who recently went through a tragedy. "I had a friend whose girlfriend was in a really bad accident, and as I sat in the hospital trying to cheer him up, I began to think to myself what things could happen you are away from home. I thought what would happen if something happened to Kristin (Krissy Vaine) or someone in my family."

Although the decision came together, they each had to ultimately make the choice on their own. "It was a big decision," O'Reilly said. "I want to give people reading this an insight on such a big decision in my and our lives."

Vaine knew she wanted to be a wrestler while in high school. She followed her dream a few years after graduating when she started attending a wrestling school near Greensboro, N.C. She made her debut in 2003, and less than three years later, she was signed by the WWE to a developmental deal. She started in Deep South Wrestling out of Atlanta, and recently had relocated to Florida Championship Wrestling in Tampa, Fla. Just two weeks ago, she made her debut on the Smackdown show, as an unnamed person who had an issue with Torrie Wilson.

O'Reilly had been under a developmental contract for almost two and a half years, making his home in Deep South and later Florida Championship Wrestling.

Nicknamed "Roughhouse," O'Reilly would capture the Deep South Heavyweight title in June 2006 and again in March 2007. O'Reilly often worked house shows and dark matches for the WWE around the country. He and partner Derrick Neikirk wrestled the FBI team of Little Guido and Tony Mamaluke throughout 2006. Recently, O'Reilly had worked numerous dark matches before RAW and Smackdown tapings. Some of his matches appeared online on WWE.com's Heat internet show.

Before his release, he was expected to join the ECW brand.

The two were chastised on message boards for their decision. Vaine was showed a comment calling their departure "very stupid."

"They don't know what has happened in our lives that lead to us make this decision," Vaine replied. "If we are happy then that's all that matters."

O'Reilly agreed. "It sucks to hear people think badly of you for something you truly believe in. I left on good terms with my boss and all that ever mattered to me is what my boss or agent thought. Everyone has an opinion, and they are entitled to say what they want."

What is next in their plans? "I believe we can do anything we set our mind to. I think we can conquer the world," Vaine said.

O'Reilly worked for TNA in its earlier days, and Vaine likes the possibility of working there in the future.

"I hope there would be some interest," Vaine said. "A lot of my friends work there.'

"Wrestling needs diversity, things that are different." O'Reilly said about TNA. "I enjoyed the work I did with them."

When asked if they had any regrets, Vaine said, "No, I don't think there will be any."

I don't see how getting your ass handed to you by Orton for over a month can do your career any good, but whatever guys!

Because it's pro wrestling and normal fans will forget it within 3 months time. Now I say normal fans because "smarky" fans will remind everyone about how Orton beat the hell out of him and one person will actually log all of losses in a thread that's no longer pinned.

Trust me, you don't have to explain the mark to smark ratio to me, I've been preaching it for years. HOWEVER, I don't think even the marks would buy Cody suddenly being a threat to anyone. They'd have to go the total underdog route with him.

Well, I just remembered someone making a comment accusing them of low intelligence, then couldn't find anything but they "morons" comment. I also don't really think it was this forum, fwiw.

Oh no, not at all. With someone like Cody Rhodes, he's gonna have to be really built up. Cody should be around for quite awhile, hopefully, so I don't see why taking a long time to build him up and making it look like he's a threat to any title would be a problem after a months of building him up as a better in-ring wrestler....but then again certain fans would just remind us later down the road that he was Randy Orton fodder at one point.

As far as Teddy Hart goes, Bryan Alvarez on WOL said that he'd been told that Hart had problems with having his matches laid out and not wanting to have anyone tell him what to do. Hart would be told not to do certain things in his match and then he'd go out and do them anyway.

So, he got fired for being Teddy Hart.

Vaine and O'Reilly acn say what they want, it is their call. Bottom line though is a lot of people, including others in the industry will think they are dumb and look down on them for throwing away chances most wish they could get...

You understand when you get in the business, especially if you want to make it on a WWE level there will be sacrifices to be made, it's not like they magically discovered what the schedule is.

They made it clear they understand the backlash that was going to occur and are willing to take it. They made some valid points and I can't blame them for changing their minds about slaving to a 300 day a year schedule, if they can make a living somewhere else and still be happy. I know it's hard to believe but some people can say no to WWE.

I don't have a problem with Vaine and O'Reilly leaving WWE, I say more power to em. Where I do have a problem with them is that they waited to do it until they had already debuted on TV. She is the one that attacked Torrie, right? Why go through with that one week, then the next week decide to leave? I know it's not a big deal, but that still puts WWE in a bad position, even if most wont remember it. It comes across as highly unprofessional and immature if you ask me.

Sadly, WWE and those within will take it as that while there are far greater acts of immaturity and lack of professionalism running rampant.

That's a good point as well. No matter what you think, it was still a pretty rotten thing for them to do. I can't stand when people get in the business, waste so much money and time in getting them to a certain point, then bail after they have made a commitment once they finally decide they don't want to go on the road for such a long time. And yes, Brock, I'm looking right at you.

Yea, he should keep doing something that makes him unhappy.
