I don't see the need for the name change. It was much easier to just refer to them as the Majors, especially since they do look so much alike, is changing the names really gonna make a difference? Unless they start wearing them on their tights or something.

At least Zach Bryant's a decent name though. Feel sorry for 'Kurt'...

HahahaWHAT?

Funny thing is, once again that's nowhere near close to their real names: Matt Cardona and Brian Myers

Just wondering but are they ever going to stop with the Batista title shots? I mean ever? Why not just have Vicki ban him from any further shots? It's ironic that people talk about SD being this land of opportunity when they've had the stalest main event scene known to man.

Funny, I didn't think those were their real names when it was revealed- my buddy there with me goes to school with someone who grew up with one of the majors- and we didn't hear his real name. I think it was the Myers one; based on the phone call my buddy made.

Oh yea, Dusty finish in the main- Batista pins a major to "win" the belt before its reversed and match restarted by Vikki who says the title can only change hands if Edge is pinned (it's 3 on 1 handicap).

Crowd popped huge for Batista's "title win".

After the match was restarted, Batista got a hold of Edge and brought him in the ring. He got him up for the Batista Bomb but he was chair-chop blocked (sounds better than it was executed) by a Major.

Edge then con-chair-to'd Batista and Dave busted out a D-Von sell.

Crowd was mildly pissed about lack of Jericho, but heading out I heard a lot more complaints about no Taker than no Jericho.

'Twas a good sell.

After the event, my girlfriend and I were outside the arena and the paramedic with the stretcher came rolling past. My girlfriend, who knew nothing of wrestling before tonight, posed to me this quandary: "If there were paramedics on hand, why did they make that big guy who got his head smacked with the chairs and the little guy who got jumped by that other guy at the end walk out? Why didn't they like, put them on a stretcher or something?"

Punk sold Chavo's attack really well, he was down for what felt like a solid five minutes before getting up, and even then he went right back down and was semi-helped to the back. I then got to shake hands with Joey Styles as he went by...missed Tazz, but one out of two is a good night in my book.

EDIT: Rather than going step by step, here's my review/spoilers for the show.

Kingston v. Taylor was above average. Taylor overused an armbar with chinlock spot, and Kingston overused the low bridge spot, but it was designed to warm up the crowd for Smackdown and it did a great job, so I'll let that slide as it was what they were supposed to be doing. Crowd was ALL OVER Taylor throughout the bout.

Khali was dominating Finlay when Singh gave him a fist-bump. The ref ordered him in and Khali got pissed while Singh nearly crapped himself. Khali stood at ringside (near the announce table) while Singh got clobbered by Finlay and then Hornswoggle got him with the Tadpole Splash. Hats were thrown into the crowd and Finlay did a jig with Hornswoggle. Very entertaining, should it make air. That's about all there was to this match, it seemed very short.

Flair promo was excellent. Less so than last night's but still a good promo. Put over HHH heavy.

Punk/Kane/Rey v Henry/BDV/MVP was easily the match of the night. Spectacular work throughout, 619 was teased at least twice on MVP with Mark Henry interfering to break it up, only to see Henry get 619ed and then chokeslammed and then Rey did a springboard frog splash for the win.

Festus v. Deuce wasn't really funny. It wasn't a bad match, but there really wasn't anything you'll regret missing as far as wrestling goes. The costumes, though...Deuce came down in his santa outfit, but still had the leather jacket on. He kept his belt on throughout the entire match. Deuce's costume was really good, I thought.

Could NOT get a Y2J chant going during JBL's promo, try though we did. The promo was met with good heat but for whatever reason the crowd cared more when the "JBL's Farewell Address" graphic was shown at the start of the show than they did the actual event.

Whether this is new or not, I'm not sure, but Teddy Long is now Vickie's wheelchair operator. He pushes her around and the facial expressions he delivers in the process are top-notch. You can really feel the "I was about to get married, I was the general manager, what the fuck happened?" angst.

It was scheduled Batista v. Edge for the title; it was modified by Vickie to Batista v. Edge & "the Major Brothers" in a one-on-three tag handicap match just before the match began.

Batista pinned a Major after a spinebuster, but Vickie revoked the title, said he had to defeat Edge for it, and for some reason re-started the contest. Batista promptly went outside, got the real Edge in the ring and picked him up for a Batista Bomb when he was chair-chop blocked (sounds better than it was) by the non-spinebustered Major for the DQ.

After that, Edge conchairto'd Batista and he gave the D-Von sell.

Also, watch for a ten-punch spot by Batista early in the bout against a Major brother. Edge ran over and tried to guillotine Batista on the top rope, but completely missed Dave and Batista ended up just falling of his own accord. I'd imagine you're going to get the regular straight-on camera angle for that one instead of the running-around-the-ring camera angle, because the botch was incredibly blatant to anyone on that side of the ring.

I thought it was decreed during Edge's previous title run, that as long as he was champion, Batista got no more title shots? Poor Big Dave is like the Lex Luger of the 21st century.

I hope Tazz doing both is a temporary solution while they search to find the full time replacement. Tazz has lost his edge in the booth and is pretty bland and forgettable these days.

The Majors name change is pretty silly. There was no need for it unless it played into Edge's reasoning for recruiting them as Edge and Christian were "brothers" back in the day as well. Their names are so fake and random. Kurt Bryant and Zach Hopkins? With Lenny Dykstra being the basis for Kennys last name, I wonder if Kobe Bryant is somebodies favorite basketball player and Bernard Hopkins is their favorite boxer.

I find it funny how Tazz is so forgive and forget with Michael Cole. When ECW restarted in 2006, Tazz looked at him with this "to hell with you" expression and jumped ship. WWE continuity at it's finest!

The Miz and Layla suddenly having no problems with each other unlike last year when both were on Smackdown is weird too.

So, a continuity question I expect will be ignored... the Majors were pretending to be brothers all this time? And, if so, why? Strange.

Edge Heads is a pretty weak team name too.

Totally. I'm fond of Rated "R"my which was used in the audio clip posted in the RAW thread.

I don't mind Edge-Heads because that's what Edge has called his "fanbase" as a heel, I assume it's a play on egg heads. I hope Edge and Co make fun of them playing brothers - remember Edge and Christian were "brothers" as well right, so there could be some mention of Edge understanding their fake relationship. Hell they could just say that it was easier to try and get hired as a brother team with surfer/Spiccoli gimmick...

I would hope Edge's faction gets a fourth member - He's the HW contender, former Majors are tag-team contenders of the faction, they need a midcard contender-type. Of course with MVP holding the title now they can't have a heel go after him for it. Maybe wait until MVP drops it to a face before bringing in a fourth member.

Shit, I spaced on this.

Edge noted that the "Major brothers" did what they did to get noticed and get in the company, and at the first chance they went for the brass ring, so to speak, and aligned themselves with Edge.

Speaking of which, what the fuck is Ric Flair doing back on Smackdown?
