WWE General Discussion - January 2008

Recommended Posts

As usual, Nash is a complete fucking liar. He'd started booking in November iirc, and Starrcade was in December. And "Goldberg sucks!"?! Bullshit.

Suprisingly I agree with you. Goldberg was still over at that point, and if it was Booker T, Benoit, Jericho, Guerrero, or even Scott Steiner who would've ended the streak, it would've been a much bigger rub.

They chanted it pretty loud in Toronto... 4 months later, but still, it did happen!

Thats because he was feuding with Bret...

Actually, Goldberg was never really over in Canada. I'm almost positive that there was a "Goldberg sucks" chant during his I Quit match with Sid at Mayhem in Toronto.

I was reading the Orton/HHH stuff from the observer, to this boards credit it hasn't happened here. But as a general question what is with people refusing to believe any news these days? I've seen tons of people blatantly say Meltzer and Alvarez just make shit up, it's "smark bait" and none of it is true. Especially if involves Triple H..

Like here was a comment I came across..."What a bunch of bullcrap. I swear the observer and all the spoiler sites will say anything to make us hate Triple H. I expect a story about how HHH chopped CM Punk to bits and peices put him in a bag and through him off a cliff for having the same pair of pants as him only to turn it around when Punk shows up on ECW and say that he killed a CM Punk lookalike instead."

Is there some reason why people think that everyone is lying and that it's all some smear campaign against the H's?

I can kinda believe it. I think the main problem is that to many people put to much faith in a internet wrestling reporter. Yes some times they are right but majority of the time, a internet wrestling reporter is wrong. Just a lot of people refuse to believe it that way and want to think that a internet wrestling reporter is mainly right.

Maybe from the older crowd, but children loved Goldberg, atleast here in Calgary.

Goldberg was always huge among the younger crowd, I remember his popularity being dead even with Austin when I was a kid.

That's the last time I make a borderline sarcastic reply about something (well, not really). I wasn't putting the Goldberg thing up for debate, EHME.

If you missed it tonight on RAW, there were some technical difficulties during a backstage segment with Vince McMahon and Hornswoggle in front of the RAW Roulette wheel. The segment aired without sound for several minutes before the truck cut out to promote other matches on tonight’s show. McMahon had them replay the segment once RAW returned from commercial which caused the divas entrances for their lingerie pillow fight to be rushed. Lilian was still announcing the stipulations to the match when Melina’s music hit. Melina was not able to complete her trademark entrance to the ring before Jillian Hall’s music began playing. They rushed the divas out to make up for the time they lost in replaying the McMahon/Hornswoggle segment.

WWE RAW will debut in High Definition in two weeks on the USA Network. The company ran a promo during one of the commercial breaks of RAW. As we have been reporting, Royal Rumble will be the company’s first pay-per-view to be broadcast in High Definition. The HD version of Royal Rumble will be $10 more expensive.

Expect to see more segments teasing Maria’s assets over the next couple of months as the company will play up her body as they prepare for the release of her edition of Playboy. Tonight on RAW there was a segment between Vince McMahon and Maria where Maria revealed that her pillows were “completely natural” as the camera zoomed in on Maria to tease the size of her breasts.

The ECW main event this week will be C.M. Punk vs. Chavo Guerrero. If Guerrero wins, he gets a title shot more than likely at the Royal Rumble.

-- Former TNA wrestler Ron "The Truth" Killings is in talks with WWE officials about possibly joining the company. A deal has yet to be reached, but Killings has indeed been offered a contract. More than likely, he's going to end up back in WWE in the near future.

-- Thanks to Fullback for the following... Last night at the Chargers playoff game Rey was waiting out in the rain for autographs, when Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman came out to his car Rey had a Chargers helmet he was trying to get signed but Shawn totally ignored him and went into his car. And Rey just stood there with the helmet hoping Shawne would roll down his window and sign but he just drove off. It was definitely a markout moment for me to see a huge superstar markout like any other person, he was running after cars and players when they would come out in the RAIN. No one noticed him so i didn't know if i should ask him for a picture or not but i finally did and he couldn't have been any nicer, and then when some Charger fans finally noticed him(only about 4) Rey started showing off his tattoos in the rain it was very cool.

Nobody wants to believe something that might end up not being true and then feeling like a fool. Much better for the ego to dismiss everything as a lie out of hand. Plus, you get to feel superior for not believing in a dirty 'internet reporter' while a lot of other people do.

Nash got the book right before WW3.

You'd think their love for the "juice" would bound these two athletes.

I just realzied the other day, WWE didnt do a "New Years Revolution" PPV this year. Maybe cuz it used to be a raw only show. Or maybe they finally realized there is no need for a ppv 2/3 weeks before the Rumble (although it could have been used to take care of the Jericho-JBL feud)

I was at Starcade and the crowd was maybe 1/3 anti goldberg and cheered when Nash won..

If they can't understand Wargames I'd love for them to sit down and analyze a King of the Mountain match. Now that one is baffling if you aren't familiar with it.

Wargames is no harder to understand than a Rumble match really.

It's no harder to undestand than the Elimination chamber.

Well, I just watched the end of Nash vs. Goldberg from Starrcade '98 on YouTube and it does seem that the crowd is popping like bonkers mad when Nash beats Goldberg.

Problay because it was a shock to see Goldberg lose...

Kurt Angle got a huge pop after he beat The Rock for the title at No Mercy 2000. Doesn't nessecary mean that the majority of fans hated The Rock, and loved Kurt Angle. He got a pop because of the shock of him winning.

Random question, how did HHH and Chyna hook up? Did he get her the job or did they hook up after they were put together? She was one manly chick. HHH must be a little bi.

didn't she train through Kowalski as well? Probably met at a gym or something. I know they met prior to her WWF arrival, he and Shawn Michaels brought her in.

So, I see another promo that ECW will be in HD in 2 weeks. Any chance WWE HD will be on the Universal HD channel instead of USA HD or SciFi HD?

I hope so, cause I don't get USA or SciFi HD.

Yeah me either. To be honest, I didn't even know there was a Sci-Fi HD channel 'til just now. We have Charter cable, and they're really slow to add new HD channels. Usually when they do add something, it's pretty niche, like the new Golf/Vs HD channel.

This might just be me, but if I saw the guy loose who I wanted to win, I wouldn't cheer. Isn't that the point of being a mark?

Those people were not just in shock of Nash winning. Unless the definition of "shock" is jumping up and down with your arms in the air.

I think I've outgrown my Chyna mark phase, but I can answer this.

Basically, they met while she was trying to break into the WWF, and he and Shawn did help her get the job ("If you want me to drop the belt, she's with us"). According to her, they didn't get together until sometime after she got hired.

She was one manly chick. HHH must be a little bi.

YOUR MOTHER!!

...

...I almost outgrew it.
