WWE General Discussion - January 2008

Maybe it's because I have less than perfect eyesight, but to me HD is the best thing ever invented by mankind (that and air conditioning, heh). If the HD you guys have seen didn't impress then all I can say is you didn't look at the right TV. There are some less than spectacular HD sets at stores, but if you check out something like a Sony 1080p set it will make your jaw drop.

The only hassle that an HD set brings is the constant flipping to different channels to watch stuff. Cable is Video 6, DVD/VCR is Video 4, and there are about 5 other channels you can use to plug in various stuff.

Maybe it will make my jaw drop. Lots of things do. I'm not paying for it though.

What do you spend your money on Al? Besides stat books.

porn?

car payment, student loan payment, essentials. What's there for recreation I use mainly to buy books and dvds. I usually don't make big ticket purchases unless I have to replace something.

Start buying your books used. How much do you make? You're the same age as me so curiosity abounds.

Generally I pull in around $550 or so every two weeks. That's after taxes and health premiums, which are deducted automatically.

What do you do again? School and work?

Just work at the moment, I'm in between college and grad school. I still live at home so it's not like I have a shitload of life expenses, just my personal effects.

Question:

My stepfather cleans floors as a side job and this weekend he will be cleaning at the Marriott in Mystic, CT. He told me tonight that that's where the RAW superstars will be staying this weekend before the show at Mohegan Sun. My friend and I are going to go with him and try to meet whoever we can. Does anybody have any experience with meeting wrestlers at hotels? Do they stay around and chat after checking in or are they hard to have any contact with?

I would expect them to be friendly before the show but not after. I remember when WWE came here in 2003 after the show a father was at the side of the arena with his son trying to get a picture with Booker T. Booker T doesn't even look at them and just storms past. Seconds later RVD comes out, father asks again and RVD takes the picture with the kid. Rene Duprees was the only one to sign autography for a few minutes. Everyone else just stormed off.

You can usually tell by their body language, how fast they're walking, if they're in the mood or not. I'd start with some small talk like "you had a great match on Raw last week" or whatever, and see how well they respond.

I would say don't approach the wrestlers while their checking in. They're tired from their fight and most likely just wanna get to their room and rest. Maybe go to the hotel before or after a show, that would be the best time in my view.

-- As we previously reported WWE diva Maria did a photo shoot with Playboy. Thus, she will be this year's WWE Playboy cover girl and the issue will be coming out as part of the WrestleMania XXIV promotion.

PWI confirms too.

I'm going to avoid the pictures online, much like I did with Sable, Chyna, Torrie, and Torrie/Sable and get my first view in the magazine itself.

People sure do get excited about the smallest things. Personally, I'm more interested in seeing Santino's on-screen reaction.

Playboy is a waste of time. I mean does that porno anime get you all worked up? That's probably more realistic than what PB is going to offer up.

Without getting crude, there is only two questions I'd want answered with the pics, one major one and one minor one and the major one will not be answered. Everything else we've seen before sans air brushing on wwe programing.

If that was directed at me, then no.

I like to see it happen cause she's been my favorite diva since she was in the diva search.

With you on the less-than-perfect eyesight (shortsighted AND colour deficient vision, heh), and I've seen HD and... it's alright. I mean, if someone came to my house and said "you can have a free HD TV" I'd say "yes, thank you". I'm not going to go out and buy one though. If I'm watching a film with lots of stunning scenery, or wild-and-crazy special effects or something, I can see why it might improve the viewing experience. But wrestling? I'm usually busier complaining about how booking doesn't make sense or laughing at what innovative heelish-yet-popworthy double-team the Motor City Machine Guns have come up with this week than concentrating on the minutae of the picture quality.
