Mik Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 Did you see how ugly she looked in the clip? My god - she's beautiful.
Hawk 34 Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 Another minor surprise. I haven't seen that movie, though.
Black Lushus Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 I'm not doubting this woman's performance (I haven't even seen it), but the Academy just loves to be odd like this, don't they?
The Niggardly King Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 Who's this hot chick that won?
Mik Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 Oh my god, I just now realized that Amy Ryan is Beadie Russell. I was like why the fuck is Beadie Russell in the audience?
Twisted Intestine Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 I know! That's why I posted it a second time. Nobody was expecting it twice!
King Kamala Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 Has anybody actually seen La Vie En Rose? I try to see as many acclaimed movies as I can and even I didn't see it. Though I think it only played in Portland for one week way back in July or August.
Twisted Intestine Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 Oh well, not like we needed it.
Hawk 34 Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 I'm not doubting this woman's performance (I haven't even seen it), but the Academy just loves to be odd like this, don't they? I think people were stunned to find out she wasn't really ugly. Besides, Christie and Blanchett are former winners. Page wasn't that great and Linney will probably get nominated a few more times in her career. They like making new "stars" when they can.
The Amazing Rando Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 Tilda Swinston kinda looked like an anorexic Bill Burr.
King Kamala Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 Hey they skipped 1943? I assume the Oscars were cancelled that year (Because of the War?)
BlackFlagg Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 Hey they skipped 1943? I assume the Oscars were cancelled that year (Because of the War?) '43 was Casablanca
MarvinisaLunatic Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 Bourne Ultimatum with 3 now..wow
Twisted Intestine Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 Bourne Ultimatum > No country for old men Marvin!
King Kamala Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 Hey they skipped 1943? I assume the Oscars were cancelled that year (Because of the War?) '43 was Casablanca I guess I'm getting old...at 19 cause I coulda swore they skipped 1943 *shrugs*
The Niggardly King Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 I'm not doubting this woman's performance (I haven't even seen it), but the Academy just loves to be odd like this, don't they? Well, they do love it when beautiful women make themselves "ugly" to play a role.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 Bourne Ultimatum > No country for old men Marvin! I thought BU was crappy compared to the first two in the series...big letdown. Of course its winning for editing and sound but I didnt think it was anything special in either of those..so..
Bruiser Chong Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 I wonder if ANYONE will remember Cotillard a decade from now.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 are they trying to say something by showing Harrison Ford repeatedly during the old guy's speech?
4hartthreat Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 I saw La Vie En Rose in the theater. I guess now everyone sees why it took home the best make-up oscar. And I thouht the final Bourne was the best of the bunch. In fact, I didn't even like Identity.
Hawk 34 Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 Big shocker. The movie with three nominations doesn't win.
devo Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 I can't help but laugh at the songwriters for Enchanted. They had a 60% chance!
King Kamala Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 I had a feeling that the song from Once would win. I'm not really knowledgable about who was the favorite in that category, I just thought it was the best song out of the ones performed tonight. That reminds me, I've been meaning to rent that one.
Twisted Intestine Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 How can you say such a thing!? How does she know that you love her? (How does she know that you love her?)
DMann2003 Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 I'm sorry... Where the "F" was Roy Schieder?!?
Hawk 34 Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 He died after January 31st. He'll be in next year's montage.
Smartly Pretty Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 I'm really glad the song from "Once" won. I liked that movie a bunch. I thought it came out in 06 though.
King Kamala Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 Nah, I think it came out late Spring/early Summer of this year.
