Dandy Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 Charleston, WV and the surrounding areas are covered by a strange "blue haze" that has a foul odor reminscent of chlroine. The Kanawha Valley houses a multitude of chemical plants around there, and officials have no idea what the chemical is or where it came from. At first, the news reported that none of the chemical companies reported a leak and they had no knowledge of what the gas could be. Minutes ago, they said that Dow Chemical is now stating they had a tanker leak earlier this morning. They still have no idea if it is related or not, and as of now, people are being told to stay indoors, close all doors and windows, and turn off ventilation systems. I had to call and tell my girlfriend to stop driving to that area to meet her mother. This is about 35-45 minutes from my house, and about 15-20 from my office.
NoCalMike Posted January 26, 2008 Report Posted January 26, 2008 Try and direct some towards a cemetary and see if it re-animates the dead.
Twisted Intestine Posted January 26, 2008 Report Posted January 26, 2008 This is really exciting for me. I'm calling terrorist attack! Watch for the gas to begin to appear throughout the U.S. Edit: I guess it's been some time since he posted. Any updates?
Slayer Posted January 26, 2008 Report Posted January 26, 2008 Charleston always has a dank air around it
Bruiser_Brody_ Posted January 26, 2008 Report Posted January 26, 2008 Green Bay has a similar problem, we call it Kaukauna
Guest Tzar Lysergic Posted January 26, 2008 Report Posted January 26, 2008 Post a link to some information when they figure it out. Industrial accidents are a hobby of mine.
Dandy Posted January 26, 2008 Author Report Posted January 26, 2008 I'll post a few links here soon. I just woke up and haven't checked the local news sites yet. Slayer, I was talking about WV, were you talking about SC? WSAZ information, including video Herald Dispatch article Noth of these are Huntington news sources, as I don't go to Charleston news sites. I will look some of them up to see if there is better info. It seems there has been no update since last night. Yesterday, they were alternating between "stay in your house!" and "stay in your house...if the haze/smell is giving you any problems. As a side note, after 9/11 our government made some upgrades around here because of it being a "chemical valley." With all of the plants throughout that area, there was some worry it would be a possible target. I would say it is relatively close to DC when you are considering major chemical leaks and wind blowing to the east. I don't think this has anything to do with terrorism, but you can imagine more than a few locals in the area are wondering if that is so.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted January 26, 2008 Report Posted January 26, 2008 I thought you lived in California. EDIT: Nevermind.
Dandy Posted January 26, 2008 Author Report Posted January 26, 2008 They just gave an update: They ran test all evening and night, were unable to find out what the "blue haze" was, where it came from, and tests showed that nothign in the air was dangerous. That sure is peculiar. Everyone could clearly see and smell it, but nothing showed up on tests and it apparently came from nowhere.
DrVenkman PhD Posted January 27, 2008 Report Posted January 27, 2008 Sounds like the work of the Tagruato Corporation. Look out for monsters.
Jingus Posted January 27, 2008 Report Posted January 27, 2008 Well obviously, it's The Mist. or, Sounds like the work of the Umbrella Corporation. Look out for monsters.
Dandy Posted January 27, 2008 Author Report Posted January 27, 2008 The haze is gone, and supposedly accounted for. This link shows satellite photos of it, and explains what it was and what caused it. Apparently, it was normal polutants that were held much lower to the ground due to the weather. I expect a giant mutated dog to wreck the neighboring towns any day now. http://www.wsaz.com/news/headlines/14367822.html
Ravenbomb Posted January 29, 2008 Report Posted January 29, 2008 Well obviously it was Kryptonite distance fog. Have you noticed any rings floating in the air around town?
