No Way Out

No no. This is not a "HHH must hog all the spotlight!" joke. I really believe the EC goes on last because it finalizes the Mania main event, and well... they can't just have two Chambers be in the undercard. One will main event the show, I'd bet on it.

Ah, I see. Even with that in mind, I believe that if Cena is winning the belt, it will go on last anyways, as that would be finalizing the 'Mania main event as well, wouldn't it?

I wouldn't be shocked or opposed to the Raw EC main eventing though, I could go either way, I just think the planned results for the WWE title match should be a consideration to how WWE lays out the card.

Well I think Cena's involvement in the Mania main event is almost a foregone conclusion. Whereas with the Chamber, you have some possibilities as to who wins (HHH or Hardy being the strongest two). And yes I'm also banking on an unclean finish in the WWE title match as well.

Yeah, that's true. I was 100% sold on Triple H winning the EC until he missed the last two Raw's (due to family issues, I know) and then Hardy went over HBK cleanly and all. I must say, that's some solid booking on WWE's part (it feels good to be able to say that for once).

Hardy has 0% chance to win. I read Triple H has a DVD coming out right after WM so business wise he's being set up. Plus, he's giving Vince another grandchild.

You know what else I give 0% chance to? Me ordering this PPV. It's too predictable. All because they shocked us for the first time in years at the Rumble with Cena doesn't mean it's going to be the norm now.

WM is looking predictable as well.

I heard they're going to release a Mr. Perfect DVD. Maybe he'll get a push...

I can see the two ECs bookending the PPV, with the rest of the card in the middle. Pacing wise, it gives the crowd a hot opener, and allows them to cool off for the second chamber match. With two back to back chambers, or having the WWE title match after the RAW EC, there's a risk of a totally burnt out crowd, which I'm sure Vince would like to avoid.

I'd agree with you, but I don't think an EC match would be first. Maybe the 2nd, and probably the 3rd. That's how I think they would do it, but personally, I'd like to see the show kicked off with the Smackdown EC. I'm assuming the WWE Title will main event WM, so it makes sense for that EC to go on last or second to last.

I hate this card, but then I've never liked the Elimination Chamber set-up. I also HATE the idea of the RR shot being burned now - If Cena wins the title and then loses it to HHH at WM, then Hardy should have won the title at RR, If Cena loses the match, then they sould have thought of a better angle to bring back Cena with that going for the shock value of the RR return, If Cena wins and then retains at WM, they should have skipped this match altogether.

The thing is that Cena could probably have a match on the Mania card without the title being involved, HHH too (Big Show being a decent candidate - even though it seems like the story of him being anywhere near back was a bit of a farce), but Orton would be totally shit out of luck outside of MITB. And Orton in that match almost doesn't seem ...right. It would be like putting Undertaker in it, or Edge (again).

Orton has Batista. Both will be left in the dark and It's a ready made match. They're big enough names to have a non-title match against each other at this big stage.

I'm finally in a position to watch wrestling again and this is going to be free in England! Looks like a great card, I'm excited about it.

Having said that: having two Elimination Chamber matches in one night is overkill. Nobody is going to value the concept at all if they use it this liberally.

As long as it doesn't get used like the ladder was for a period of time where it was used on nearly every PPV and free tv on a consistant basis. They'll probably put away the chamber until next NWO. Which is fine.

Yeah, isn't it just my luck?

This is the ONE Sunday in six that I have to work.

I thought they'd make it a NYR exclusive, wish they had.

Okay, but having two in one night? That's just excess.

Wrestling fans may want the most they can possibly get from any one show, but that doesn't mean the promoter should always give them it. I don't mean to sound condescending, but fans don't always know what is best for the product. WWE should want them to particularly want to see these matches, this just goes against that philosophy entirely.

I think an 8 man tourney should have happened on SD with maybe the Final 4 guys competing on this PPV. Something besides just throwing 6 more guys in the EC.

Anyway, tonight I am taking HHH to win the Raw one, UT to win the SD one, Flair over Kennedy, Chavo over Punk via some dubious method. As far as Cena/Orton goes, I am not 100% sure. The notion of Cena (or anyone for that matter) simply waltzing back and getting the belt again is sickening. I hate that type of booking, yet I also want the belt off Orton. I will go out on a limb and say Orton gets himself DQed, then they do a 3 way at WM.

Meltzer's preview:

Tonight's line-up:

*WWE title: Randy Orton vs. John Cena - The biggest question is what kind of a crowd is Las Vegas. Are they the big city hate John Cena crowd, or the kids and women love Cena crowd. As far as the match goes, most seem to expect Cena to win the title even with him starting movie production next week. On paper a good match, though, and could very well be great

*World title: Edge vs. Rey Mysterio - Have had several confirm that this match is on the schedule and will take place. As far whether they do an injury angle in the match, or he guts it out and doesn't have surgery, we haven't heard yet. The ending of the match will likely tell the story if they do a big injury angle or not. If not, Mysterio will likely get screwed, in a wrestling sense of course, by Vickie Guerrero

*Elimination Chamber for WWE title shot: JBL vs Y2J vs. HBK vs. HHH vs. SB (Samoan Bulldozer) vs. RHW (Rainbow Haired Warrior). HHH big favorite. RHW as the dark horse. I'd be surprised if anyone else wins, but nothing in WWE happens until it happens. Yogi Berra on WWE booking. Probably a hell of a match with all that talent.

*Elimination Chamber for World title shot: Undertaker vs. Big Daddy V vs. Great Khali vs. MVP vs. Batista vs. Finlay. And you wonder why an emergency rehearsal was called for last night? I'm virtually certain it was for this match, and largely because of Khali. Undertaker is favored. It is possible this could be a good match, but it's hardly a lock.

*Chavo Guerrero vs. C.M. Punk for the ECW title - Too early to switch it back, even though Chavo isn't my choice for a major champion. I suspect the match will be decent, that Punk will get a big pop coming out, and people, no matter how well or not well worked it is, will lose interest unless the match is short.

*Ric Flair vs. Mr. Kennedy - Flair has to win and Kennedy will probably slip on a banana peel.
