What an awful throw from Lugo. That was embarrassing.

Twenty runs scored and it hasn't even been five innings yet. This game isn't ending before midnight.

So, like, do Yankees and Red Sox fans feel under siege now that people are pointing out that their games are really fucking long? I think I'm the only person who has made any sort of normative statement regarding the ideal length of a baseball game. Everyone else has just mused about this. There are some strange backed-into-a-corner tendencies coming from both sides here. Have your long-ass games, then. With the price of Yankee Stadium and Fenway Park admission, maybe it's for the best.

So my latest worry is that the White Sox are for real. I will not be able to bear this if it's true. I cannot, should not, and will not sit through five and a half more months of Nick Swisher yelling PUMP IT UP YEEEEEAAAAAH DUUUUUUDDEEE to anyone who will listen. The synergism of Swisher's own Rowandian obnoxiousness coupled with the White Sox' marketing blitz that they are a blue-collar team for blue-collar people is one that rivals Xanax and booze in its newfound strength.

Miguel Tejada admitted that he's 33 years old. Jose Contreras, time for you to come clean now.

Hey Czech, just shut up. The White Sox are not for real but just let them enjoy themselves, alright? Even though they have a high payroll, they are definitely much more blue collar than your fuckin' Cubs.

I've certainly made a few points about this. It's one thing for Yankees/Red Sox games, but playoff games involving those teams are way too long as well. If a nine inning game lasts longer than 3 1/2 hours, someone on the field spent time jerking off somewhere.

Good to see Griffey is not pulling the ball every time. When he starts hitting to dead centerfield or going opposite field, he really gets better. He gets much better extension on the ball and they have to rethink the shift.

Gavin Floyd's gonna have a Perfect Game tonight vs the Os (so far through 4, and the Os hitters look like little leaguers so far)

you heard it here first

edit: hometown scoring gives Millar a basehit on what should have been an error on Crede.

Figureoa turns in an even better start tonight (7 IP, 3 H, 2 BB, 2 ER, 7K), so I guess all that's left is to see is if he can pitch away from Shea Stadium. My money's on no, but hey, we'll see.

Unfortunately, he can only get a loss for his efforts, since the Mets made John Lannan look like Cy Young tonight.

The Mets should have won this game about 3 or 4 times by now. That blown call at 3rd will piss me off if they manage to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Single, advance on a wild pitch, advance on a botched pickoff. Damion Easley is trying to win this game by himself.

Ahahaha, scores on a wild pitch. Fuckin' Iceman does it again.

Colorado has to fly to Houston for tomorrow's game. You can probably chalk up Friday and Saturday's games as wins for Houston.

Poor Tony Clark. 0 for 7.

I'll probably be in bed before this one's over. And that's saying something.
