Not necessarily the technically quality stuff, either. We're talking about one-hit wonders and stuff that'll make you go, "Oh yeah, I remember that" in a tone that denotes a mix of nostalgia and repulsion. I can't be alone in this respect. I'm pretty "meh" about it these days, but back then, I'd find myself unconsciously saying, "Can I get a..." before realizing it went against my stance on rap. And then I'd go make up for my slip by listening to Jimmie's Chicken Shack. I sucked.

He would have been a perfect fit in the late 80s/early 90s goofy pop rap scene with Tone Loc, Young MC, Fresh Prince and DJ Jazzy Jeff, Kid 'N' Play, etc.
