Damaramu 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2008 I think the real question is who takes the first "purely making a play on the ball" swipe at Kobe's bad finger? Robert Horry or Bruce Bowen? I joked with a friend that Horry was going to piledrive Kobe at midcourt then act shocked and argue with the ref when they throw him out of the game. Maybe Bowen or Horry will deliver a dive for the ball elbow to Kobe's bad back when they're going for a loose ball. Then they'll make the case they were just going for the ball......with their elbow........at Kobe's lower back.......

Then the Spurs fans will erupt and chant 'Horry' while the trainers help Kobe limp off in pain. Then we get the standard interviews after the game talking about "experience, defense and clutch play" that Horry provides.
Mr. S£im Citrus 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2008 Pistons/Spurs FTW! do you mean "fuck. the worst"? Why no... I actually meant something relatively close to the exact opposite of that.
Boon 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2008 I'm a little stunned there was no conversation in this thread at all tonight. Are people that disinterested in Celtics/Pistons?
MFer 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2008 So much for that Detroit Game 1 victory that everyone was anticipating... Typical Pistons failing to show up again (complete with 'Sheed pulling a 'Sheed). Flip Saunders is now 0-10 in Conference Finals' road games (0-3 with Minnesota, 0-7 with Detroit).

PUT THAT DICK IN MY MOUTH! 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2008 I'm a life-long Pistons fan and I don't even know if I can stomach watching another game of such shitty, uninspiring basketball. This series is an aesthetic nightmare.
bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted May 22, 2008 Yeah that was an ugly game, fouls every time down the court, ugh. but the fact i'm a pistons fan probably has something to do with it.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted May 22, 2008 Well, I hope the Spurs stick with their pattern of laying an egg in the third quarter of road games. Parker has just been abusing the Lakers to this point.
PUT THAT DICK IN MY MOUTH! 0 Report post Posted May 22, 2008 I like to see Kobe try to get other guys involved but 3 shots in a half is just way too few.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted May 22, 2008 What Tim Duccan is about to do to Pau in this seires and what Parker is about to do to Derek Fisher is not going to be pretty. all the teams left int he playoffs are the worse matchups for the Lakers.
Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted May 22, 2008 The stream on tnt.com is pretty cool. They have a 4 camera angle mosaic, two player focus cams that just follow close up one player from each team (Kobe and Manu), and a cam from one of the baselines that zooms up and down the court. No commentary either, so can really hear the players, refs and crowd.

Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted May 22, 2008 Yeah, the Spurs are blowing this Haha, also, the other great thing about this TNT feed is they don't cut to commercials, they just keep the camera on the court/bench/crowd during timeouts. They showed an entire Laker Girls routine, and the camera man was focusing on the MASSIVE rack of this one blonde chick the entire time!

alfdogg 0 Report post Posted May 22, 2008 I was playing CoD4 during the third quarter and most of the fourth... wow. The Lakers came back big, how was the officiating? It's been pretty bad, but there's plenty of blame to go around. I'm not sure why Popovich stayed with Udoka for so long, he was pretty bad in the fourth quarter. And Kobe pretty much showed why he was the MVP.
Exslade ZX 0 Report post Posted May 22, 2008 Great win/comeback by the Lakers. That's all I have to say. And for a Kobe Bryant that *only scored 2 in the first half, 27 points? Nice.

Guest Report post Posted May 22, 2008 Man, I coulda told you guys that shit was gonna happen. Key is the bench. Our bench is just better than the Spurs, and when we get those guys in, shit happens. When you play tough, hard nosed D, you can find your way back into any game. When doubling Duncan, the Lakers need to make sure that Vujacic and Farmar are on the court, so they can rotate quickly onto the open man. Leaving Radmanovic or Luke out there and trying that would just be asking for trouble. As for the officiating, we only took one more free throw than the Spurs. That's all that really needs to be said. About the rest of the series, Phil Jackson coached teams are 40-0 when winning the first game. I know, there's a first time for everything, blah blah blah. I'll trust that giant number, though.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted May 22, 2008 The problem with this Lakers win is that it hinged on Manu having a horrible game and Toni Parker not hitting his midrange shot. I don't think you can count on both. Duncan how they will have to double him because he will murderlate Gasol(even though Pau is allowed to leap on his back for rebounds). That no call when Duncan got hacked and they knocked the ball out of bounds and gave the Lakers another possession was HUGE. That was one of the single worse calls possible there. Either it had to be out on the lakers for slapping the ball (which they didn't) or a foul for slapping Duncans arm(which they did). No way it couldn't be either. But anyway, Parker hasn't been consistantly missing that shot for a while now, and manu will play better. I personally think all the games will be close, no matter how big teams go up. Last night the Lakers just doubled Duncan and everyone else just missed shots. I don't think that is something you can count on for the series. I do think the Lakers did a wonderful job cloging the lane to keep Parker out though. That was impressive.
Kinetic 0 Report post Posted May 22, 2008 Not to make excuses (although that's exactly what I'm going to do), but you could tell that the Spurs were worn out by the 4th quarter. Bear in mind that this team had to win a game 7 in New Orleans, then got stuck on the runway for 11 hours prior to flying to L.A. No less an authority than Skip Bayless just said that his sources in San Antonio admitted that the Spurs were more or less willing to concede game 1 in this series, and were actually surprised to be up by so much in the 3rd. I don't know. There's a lot from the first game that bodes well for each team, so it seems like this is going to be a really tight series all the way through. I'm sticking with my prediction of San Antonio in seven.
