Attorneys for Couture and Zuffa have been in talks trying to settle the case, with Couture talking about the possibility now of facing Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira on UFC turf. -- Dana White had some very controversial comments yesterday as he suggested that Holli Griggs' miscarriage had nothing to do with Quinton Jackson. He said Jackson merely broke the mirror off the side of her Lexus and her airbags didn't even deploy, and that she didn't even come forward with the claim until a week later. All I am going to say here is that I think it would be in everyone's best interests to not talk about the situation at all right now. ~ F4O

In honor of the biggest fight in the UFC since Randy/Chuck 1 or maybe even ever... I have an idea for GSP/Penn 2 that will be forum wide and will hopefully be fun for everyone. I'll announce it when the match is official.

 

Oh, and I don't know if this has ever been said in this folder but "the beautiful Edith" is anything but. Easily the ugliest ring girl in UFC history and it's sad seeing her sit next to a goddess like Ariany Celeste. All she has is her giant fake breasts.

I must be one of the few folks not completely excited about GSP/Penn II. GSP beat him by split decision 2 yrs ago and he's an exponentially better fighter now. An in his prime GSP fighting a bloated BJ spells trouble for Penn in rounds 4 and 5.

 

Anyways, Penn still needs to clear out his weight class. I don't know why they haven't gone in the direction of having GSP go up to 185 and fight Anderson Silva. Both men have dominated their weight class and are looking for a challenge. That's the big money fight.

Bloated BJ? Incase you just started watching BJ now, BJ is very comfortable at 170, hell he can go up to 185 and become a contender in that division... This is the same BJ Penn who fought Light Heavyweight contender Lyoto Machida in an open weight contest, and fought him to a close and controversial desicion. And it's clear that BJ Penn isn't the same fighter he was 2 years as well, his stand up has looked a lot better. He went from a brawler with knock out power to looking like a professional boxer. After the 3rd round in the Sherk fight BJ didn't look tired at all and looked ready to go 2 more rounds, but that wasn't the case...

 

Why should BJ Penn stay at Lightweight? It's clear that he is head and shoulders above the division right now... He dominated and completely outclassed Joe Stevenson who is Top 5 in the Lightweight division in the UFC, he dominated Sean Sherk who was considered the #2 behind Penn in the division... Most of the fighters in the Lightweight division are all young up and comers and are not ready to face a monster like BJ Penn. Do you really want to see another Joe Stevenson beat down?

I'm just saying that he is at his best at 155. The way the sport has evolved, the more he strays from that weight at this point in his career the more problems he will have. The last fight he won out of the 155 weight division was against Renzo in 2005. The Machida fight took place 2 years into Lyoto's MMA career and he beat BJ in a unanimous decision (this was an open weight match and I don't remember what Penn weighed for this fight).

 

I just don't think Penn moving up to 170 is going to give this present day GSP much of a fight.

Kazuo Misaki's first bout on US soil will occur at the next "Strikeforce at the Playboy Mansion" card and be against none other then Joe Riggs.

 

Misaki/Akiyama is probably still on my top 5 favorite fights of the past year. Hopefully he can do well in the US.

BJ Penn made $250k his last fight against Sherk, he has no legit reason to leave... Plus the UFC has done a great job marketing BJ, and has built a really great fanbase around him here in America.

 

Randy left, but how is that working for him now? He hasn't fought over over a year, courts ruled in favor for Zuffa, and now Randy is now even considering fighting Nogueria and has stated if he wishes he can fight Fedor in the UFC.

I saw that today. I guess they are assuming that Rampage's legal trouples won't interfere with his fighting career and that Shogun will be injury free (no small task for him as of late). Interesting to see if Quinton has improved his clinch game, but seeing as how he is 1-3 against Chute Boxe/former Chute Boxe fighters (with the one victory being a disputed decision) tells me that he is about as good as he will get against them.

 

Lost a lot of respect for Quinton since the Forrest fight, so it wouldn't bother me too terribly much to see Shogun beat him, then march his way back to the top for a rematch with Griffin (hopefully with a match against Chuck along the way).
