Your Paragon of Virtue 0 Report post Posted December 30, 2008 Sherdog's rankings are up. I have no idea how beating Ben Rothwell and Roy Nelson makes someone more qualified than Mir, who beat Lesnar and NOguiera. In their own fucking list, the two guys Mir beat both outrank Rothwell and Nelson. I like Arlovski, but there's no way he deserves to be the second best heavyweight in the world. Their Anti-UFC Bias is really coming out with this one.
Your Paragon of Virtue 0 Report post Posted December 30, 2008 I'm not gonna even get into the fact that Barnett is ranked above him. Apparently beating Monson, Rizzo, and Nastula over the past two years is more impressive than Lesnar and destroying the second best heavyweight of all time in less than one. Lei Tong 0 Report post Posted December 30, 2008 Barnett gets extra credit for winning despite having to balance training with a full-time puroresu habit.

Lei Tong 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2009 Dude missed a few, and some of the ones he picked had better examples: Air Raid Crash: Melendez v. Uematsu Reverse Cradle Tombstone Piledriver: Minowa v. Filho Belly-to-belly Suplex/Lateral Drop: Erikson v. Goodridge Clothesline: Blackburn v. Heleno Ground Cobra Twist/Banana Split/Twister: Strebendt v. Elliot Back Drop Driver: Menjivar v.Palmer Running Powerslam: Stevenson v. Davis (Not sure about this one) That's all off the top of my head, as I won't bother getting into submissions in pro-wrestling that are obviously MMA moves as well. Lei Tong 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2009 Just rewatched Henderson v. Kondo again, and I forgot just how bad that decision was, IMO. When does a fighter earn a JD when he's mounted for extended stretches of 2 out of 3 rounds, is thoroughly outstruck, and whose offensive output tops out with some takedowns and one right hand? When that fighter is Dan Henderson. Granted, Kondo didn't blow him out, but to hear Bas cheerlead as Mauro made preemptive excuses for Dan just made the JD that much harder to take. Perhaps it should've been expected: Henderson has had unparalleled luck with judges throughout his career, while Kondo had the exact opposite luck in PRIDE (v. Henderson, Nakamura, & Gono). RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2009 "The Yuki Konspiracy" A tale of one cholos (drunken) journey to bring to light the injustices of the past... for the sake of the future. "But inspector, he was mounted the whole fight!" "I'm sure he was, Mr. Tong, but in Japan, you have to do things by the book, it's not like how it is in California.." "We'll see about that" *swigs* *explosions*
Lei Tong 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2009 I LOL'ed. I'm envisioning "Black Rain"-style culture clashes, and a "Get Carter"-esque finale, with me catching one in the back of the head. Suggestions for the triggerman? I'm thinking Quadros.

RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2009 And, of course, there would have to be the pivotal scene were you confront the PRIDE apologist... "Well, you see Lei, in PRIDE, the judges value effort to finish the fight above all else..." "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGHHHHH!!" *Throws bottle against wall* *Grabs fanboy by collar* "HE WAS MOUNTED THE ENTIRE FUCKING FIGHT!!" .. ... .... "But was he trying to finish the fight?" "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2009 I demand a scene where Tong realizes that in order to truly seek justice for Kondo he must meet the man who knocked him out. Enter the Phil Baroni scene, possibly a rip-off of the end of There Will Be Blood, maybe Baroni visits Tong to try and get his career back on track and Tong bludgeons him to death with a Grapplers Quest DVD. Lei Tong 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2009 That, or Mauro & Bas, a la "Casino:" Narrator: "Tong thought he got away clean, settling away somewhere nice and deep in some Mexican hell-hole where he thought no one would look for him..." *Bas & Mauro, toting guns, chase Tong through a Mexican backstreet, off screen* Narrator: "But then, Kazushi Sakuraba was recognized as "Greatest Japanese Fighter of All Time" by ESPN. Naturally, higher-ups in FEG were worried he'd come out of hiding just to speak out about it, and so..." *Tong tumbles on-screen, wounded, as Rutten approaches* Bas:" I'm sorry, frie...no I'm not! BAM!* *Rutten coup de grâces Tong*

RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2009 "Looks like you're down 12 to 2 on points with 10 seconds left and I've got you omaplatta'd, Phil. What do you do?" "I don't know!" "Yeah, and that's why you'll never be in the top 15" *Jabs Phil in throat with DVD* It would be ideal if it turned out that the master reasoning behind the whole konspiracy was to ultimately discredit Frank Shamrock, given Kondos win over him. "Frank Shamrock, GOAT? Chya, riight, dude lost to Yuki Kondo."
Broward83 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2009 Hadn't seen it posted..figured it could be thrown in here. (From LordsofPain.net via ESPN.com) ============================ UFC Could Get Sanctioned In New York - MSG Show In 2009? By Michael Bluth Jan 7, 2009 - 10:19:44 AM Source: ESPN.com -- The UFC is one step closer to getting mixed martial arts sanctioned in New York. This afternoon, New York Governor David Patterson will be in Albany to begin formal hearings on Bill No.S02858, which would allow the New York State Athletic Commission to regulate the sport. UFC President Dana White is already sketching plans for a show in Madison Square Garden in the fall. "I'm very confident we're going to be in New York in 2009," White said. "It's going to be fun when we roll into New York." In November, the UFC held a round-table discussion in Manhattan. In attendance were members of the Tourism, Arts and Development committee, as well as representatives from the New York State Athletic Commission and Madison Square Garden. The UFC also commissioned an independent economic impact study that showed a UFC event would generate $11.5 million for the city. "Our events have brought millions of dollars in tax and tourist revenue to nearly every city we have held an event," White said. "We are constantly breaking arena records for concession sales, merchandise and ticket sales. We're thrilled about the prospect of bringing our sport to New York and hope that legislators will recognize the tremendous economic opportunity it represents."
