Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2008 No shit, Karo. You'd look like even more of a pussy if you ducked it now then before. And I think he's going to be in for a shock against Alves. It's not like that's going to be a cakewalk for him either.
Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2008 He never ducked the fight, it wasn't offered to him. Fitch said the fight with Karo wasn't offered to him neither even though he wanted it.
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2008 Regardless of how choosy he was with his words Karo's message was easy to translate: "I'm not confident fighting the best in the division because I don't want to lose out on the title shot I think is coming to me." Maybe so, but it also doesn't mean he wont accept the fight if it was offered to him. Calling someone a pussy because he doesn't want to derail his title shot is pretty stupid. Karo is far from a pussy.
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2008 The key part of my translation is the "title shot I think is coming to me" part, which it isn't and shouldn't be. Karo had his chance to put himself up there against Diego and he lost it and since then decisioning Fickett, Burkman and Chonan doesn't get you back in the mix. He said if the fight was offered he would take, it wasn't offered and Alves was, so he took it. It's not like he's fighting a tomato can, he's fighting another contender aswell. And although Fitch beat Alves, I believe Alves is a bigger fighter now. Fitch is the fighter getting an easier opponet, especially now that Gono pulled out. I believe Karo in him saying that he fight wasn't offered. He has no reason to lie. Although I question his confidence about fighting and beating Fitch, I doubt he would turn down a fight with him. Since his return from the suspension Alves has been on the prelims of a UFN and the undercard of a PPV whereas Fitch has taken co-main spot on a UFN and was given a high-profile fight against Diego. You're deluding yourself if you think Alves is the biggest fighter right now. Want proof? Look at Fitch and Alves. At the end of the year one of them will have challenged for the UFC welterweight title and one will not. You know which is which.
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted January 24, 2008 So it seems that (according to The Fight Network) Cote won't be on the Montreal card but will be there as a French commentator for the UFC.
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted January 24, 2008 I like Cote. He's like Guida and Eastman, even when they lose they go all out. I'm glad the UFC gave him more chances after a lackluster start

I made a typo, I meant to say Alves is a better fighter now then when he was when he fought Fitch. I think Fitch would still be able to beat Alves, but Alves would make it a tougher fight. RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted January 24, 2008 To be fair, Alves got gangbanged by Fitch, so any improvement would be remarkable improvement.

Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2008 So I tune into Celeb Rehab because this is the night that Ricco comes on...and uh, he comes off like a major scumbag
starvenger 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2008 I like Cote. He's like Guida and Eastman, even when they lose they go all out. ...have you seen many Eastman or Cote fights? Not that this has anything to do with the topic at hand, but Eastman has got to have the biggest pecs since Bolo. And yes, that would include HHH.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted January 26, 2008 http://shoxc-01-25-08.proelite.com/90228 Tonya Evinger totally makes up for beating Julie Kedzie (Kedzie being adorable... in that crazy cat lady adorable sorta way. But for real, brunette? The fudge?)
Mik 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2008 Even though everyone has known it for awhile, Okami vs. Tanner is official for 82. Due to all the stars on the show, Koscheck/Hazelett is going to be an undercard bout.
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2008 Smart decision. Koscheck shouldn't be worried about Dustin shooting on him like GSP did but Hazelett has a great guard so Josh might.....ya know....be Josh. If he looks good I'm sure it'll be their first choice for prelims to air on the live card.
Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2008 I heard Diego's fight is going to be on the prelim as well.
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2008 Silva/Hendo Kongo/Herring Arlovski/O'Brien Okami/Tanner Fitch/Wilson There's yer main.
Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2008 I would have rather moved Fitch/Wilson to the prelim instead of Diegos and Koschecks fights.
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2008 Why? Just because he's not fighting Gono anymore? Diego and Koscheck are coming off losses. Fitch is the hottest thing in the WW division currently. Figure it out.

Fitch is the hottest thing in the WW division currently. Figure it out. Pretty much... I understand they are building up Fitch as next in line for a title shot, but I haven't even heard of the fighter. Koscheck is coming off a desicion loss against GSP where he held his own, there is no shame in that.
Mik 0 Report post Posted January 28, 2008 The fight science show on National Geographic was a great way to spend an hour. I highly recommend it if you can track it down.

Mik 0 Report post Posted January 30, 2008 UFC 83 has been canceled altogether and the fights that were schedule have been scattered to other cards. The show in Montreal will now be UFC 83 instead of 84. Sidebar: do you think they should stop with the numbers at some point? Perhaps after 100?
